Used 2011 Chevrolet Equinox Consumer Reviews
Beautiful Vehicle
After much research and test driving the Edge, Equinox & Santa Fe it was a no brainer. The Equinox was the only one that I fell in love with immediately after driving. This car looks like a million bucks. The seats are very comfortable and the entire inside has a very luxurious feel. The car handles well. It feels like a strong solid car if that makes sense. It shifts smoothly. It's an absolute pleasure to drive. There is almost no outside noise in the cabin. I agree that the gas mileage isn't great. The cargo space is adequate for grocery shopping and the like. If you are looking for affordable luxury check this car out. I fall in love every time I turn the key!
Love my Equinox
Can honestly say this is one of the best vehicles I have owned. Besides getting a great deal when I bought this in December 2010. The ride is very comfortable. Being 6'3", I have no problem with leg room when driving. And with gas prices now, I am glad I stuck with the 4 cylinder, even though it can be lethargic at times. I am getting about 22 mph around town. Not getting the 32 on the highway, though my highway speeds are usually about 70. On the highway I average about 27, still not too bad. Would buy another one, great value for what you get. Gold mist in color, sharp looking.

Digusted with the Equinox
My Equinox just rolled up 3000 miles, it has been in the shop more than it has been on the road. I bought this vehicle for the gas mileage, the window sticker said 32 mpg Hwy, the best I have gotten is 24mpg and I do not drive it hard. I keep getting the excuse from the dealer that there is a lot of ethanol in the gas, so I tried Shell Premium gas and it went to a whopping 26 mpg. The loud start up noise turned into the timing chain being changed, then the cam shaft automaters being changed........needless to say, I have contacted GM and am waiting to see what can be done. This vehicle stalled out on me in traffic and I do not feel safe in it.
7 years with 2011 Equinox
I own a 2011 Equinox that I purchased new. I have to admit to being partial to Chevrolet, but I have enjoyed owning this vehicle. Most people that write reviews are only going to tell you about their bad experienced. As with anything 7 years old it has had an issure or two, but nothing that I would consider out of the ordinary. I recently purchased a 2017 and gave the keys to my 2011 to my son. Recently, he said there was a noise being made by the engine.I cranked it and immediately recognized the noise as lifters rattling.I checked the oil and there was no oil showing, I put in a quart, and it still showed no oil on the stick, so it was really low. It had 5700 miles on the oil change, which is 700 miles more than I usually allow in a change. We took it to the dealership and had the oil changed and they informed us, this was a problem with this engine. They asked us to bring it in 3 separate times, at 1k intervals, and if it showed that it was using more than 1 quart per 2k miles, they would repair it. Fortunately for us, this past week, they replaced the pistons, rings and timing chain and all related gaskets. The Equinox had 118k miles on it, and we trust the problem is fixed. We have heard, that the company that supplied the pistons, had some sort of teflon coating on them, that flaked off after a while, which contributed to the ring wear. Everett Chevrolet in Hickory NC, and Chevrolet itself was gracious in helping us solve the problem. Yes I own a 2017 and will buy another

Cold blood car
In August 2011 I purchased my Equinox with only 145 miles. Fine until Jan 2012 (A nice Wisconsin morning at 15+ below zero). Driving on the interstate and the SUV started to chug and actually shut down while I was driving. My SUV would not go any faster than 5 mph. A few hrs later, I drove to the local gas station to do a test drive (Less than two miles). SUV seemed to be fine; however, on the way back.. it started to chug again. At 4pm, I tried driving the SUV home... made it 7 miles and it did it again. Called the dealership and they found nothing. However, it is cold again (Jan 2013) here in WI and my car is doing a repeat performance. My SUV has been in/out of the shop the four times.
