Used 2011 Chevrolet Equinox Consumer Reviews
A Very Questionable Investment
I was surprised seeing that this car rated 4 out of 5 stars. The gas mileage was supposed to be 32, but we never got better than 23 mpg. Even allowing for the AWD, we expected upper 20s. There was always a rattling coming from the engine that sounded like pins and needles shaking in a tin can. At 60K, I took it in for an oil change and the dealer could find no oil on the stick at all. No oil pressure guage. No warning light. At 80K, the oil use was only worsening. The dealer said it warranted a ring job. Since the warranty was expiring at 100K, we traded it in on a Prius V, taking a $6K hit. The GM people are some of the best. Too bad this is a crappy car.
LOVE IT!!
I got my Equinox in March. I rented a 4 cyl. and a V-6 before I purchased to see which one I would like better. The V-6 got better gas mileage and had a lot more pick up. The 4 cyl. struggled on the highway for me. I absolutely love my Equinox. I have 20 MPG highway and city. I traded up from a Nissan Sentra that got 25 MPG, but I feel so much more comfortable and secure in my Equinox. It was worth the difference to me. Smooth, Quiet ride with plenty of room. Best vehicle I have ever owned!

Do Not "Buy Into" the Ads on TV
This is the worst car that I've every owned! It was fine for the first four years and then, it started to fall apart. The catalytic converter went first and I had it repaired by an "unauthorized" dealer because I never got the letter from Chevy about the problems with it. I made copies of all the paperwork and the service rep at the Chevy Dealership told me that I probably wouldn't get a full reimbursement, but I might get half. That would have been great because I spent close to $1,300 out of my pocket for it. The rep for Chevy's customer service department couldn't have been ruder or uncaring. He obviously had no business being in charge of any customer service department! Since then, I've installed a fuel injection system. another catalytic converter, and recently, something else with the fuel injection. To date, in the past 2 years, I've spent $3,500 out-of-pocket. The car was bucking and stalling out, so I never would let my daughter or mother drive the car. It's a nightmare and I can't wait to dump it! Please do not believe the ads about this car because it really is terrible!

honest review
I bought my Equinox 4 weeks ago and I love it. I saw a lot of negative reviews out there so I was a little worried, but once you drive the thing you are sold! MPG was the biggest complaint I read, but people have to realize you have to drive like a granny and it will get the EPA MPG. If I pay attention to my gas pedal I average about 24 around town and I drove it on the interstate/backroads to the lake house and got 31mpg. It should get better once broke in about 5000 miles. Interior is amazing and I love the way it drives. Some complain about the controls on the radio being hard to reach, but why reach when its on your steering wheel? Great Chevy at a great price. LS w/ blue tooth 22000.
great car
Have driven the car for about 1300 miles, so far, it is a great move. Had a 06 caddy SRX, Moved to the nox to save on Gas, less $ on maintenance, goal was 28 MPG.
