Disappointment
Just bought this 2010 Equinox. 2010 no longer comes with a fold flat front passenger seat, not even an option. This reduces the utility factor. I drive with a light foot in ECO mode yet I only have averaged 23.7 mpg. 80% of my driving is 4 lane with the cruise on 60 mph. The rear blind spots are terrible, the rearview camera is a necessity not just an option.
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!
I only bought my Equinox two days ago and couldn't wait to write a review. This SUV is amazing! I researched this auto for months. I also looked at the Kia Sorento, Hundai Santa Fe, and the Ford Escape. The look of the Nox is beautiful. The inside is amazing. Beautiful details, nice lighting and I have more than enough pep to get on the road at a reasonable speed. I will be driving about 700 miles during the Christmas holidays and can't wait to see what the mileage is like. The mileage is one of the main reasons for the purchase. I have 150 miles on the SUV and still have three quarters of a tank of fuel left! This is a dream auto and Chevy did an outstanding job! Easy on the eyes

So far so good
14k on it so far and runs great, Wife puts 130 miles a day on it going back and forth to work. Has not had a single issue. It handled very well through the Wisconsin winter. You had to work hard to make the tires slip, the traction and stability control really worked. Gas mileage average is about 27 so far. Very comfortable and roomy, I can take the wife and kids on a long trip in peace and quit. They all fall asleep!
Chevy beats Honda
Owning a CR-V for 2 years and finding it an excellent car, had some concerns about the Chevy but in terms of ride, a quiet cabin, fuel economy, and fit and finish it seems to be not only equal to, but better than. The Honda's 5 speed transmission seems to shift smarter, and steering is quicker. The 6 speed GM transmission, even on the 4 cylinder is however smooth, and quiet. All in all you get better MPG - quieter ride - greater leg room, Bluetooth, power rear hatch, better seat heating, in a car that anyone will like to drive. Chevy wins this one.
Suprise
After test driving Ford, Toyota and a few other models in the same catagory I was surprised how nice the Equinox was, I gave it a better rating than the above for the price, looks and all the features it has. I have 1000 on the vehicle and average 27mpg city and freeway. The interior is great, controls are all visable and easy to reach. I like all safety features, handling is nice and road noise is low.
Way Better than Expected
Wife and I were going to buy Ford Escape or Edge, but on a whim we stopped in at Chevy dealer to check out Equinox. What we saw blew us away. We went out to get lunch to talk about it. Both of us couldn't stop talking about how nice the Equinox was. Interior way more room than Edge with more features and style. Interior and exterior are nice. GM has XM radio, Ford does not. XM has baseball. After lunch, we returned to dealer, went for a test drive and negotiated a deal. Engine power was surprisingly peppy for a 4-cyl. We drove a 6-cyl also, but not a noticeable improvement in horsepower. Based on feature package, build quality, price, and dealer, we think Equinox is best vehicle available.
Lovin' The New SUV
We traded in a 07 Trailblazer on our new 10 Equinox and are loving it. My favorite feature is the MPG, double that of the Trailblazer. For a sub $25k vehicle the Equinox comes with a host of features and is easy on the eyes. Great value in today's over inflated car prices.
Chevy Equinox
When gasoline hit $4 a gallon, I knew it was time to get rid of the crew cab 4X4 and downsize to something else. I got an '09 Vibe GT, too small, for wife, kid and myself. Saw a new '10 Equinox, saw the gas mileage, could not believe it, test drove the new LTZ model, I am 6'6" and WOW, this thing feels like it is the next size bigger in the line of Crossovers. Great comfort, took it on our first trip, Ohio-Iowa, 750 miles one way, packed to the hilt, drove 75-80mph the whole way with the air on, and....... we got 28.5 mpg. I figure if I slowed down a little, it would probably get the 32 MPG, also, the motor is not yet broke in. Nice vehicle, sharp!! I got the Mocha steel, pretty!
Incredile Crossover, Incredible Value!
I got my Equinox last week and it's awesome! I got the LT2, Mocha Steel Metallic, Black/Brownstone Leather, Sunroof and Rear Entertainment. I am currently averaging about 24 MPG combined and hopefully it will go up. No problems so far and the 6 speed auto-transmission shifts very smooth. Fun to drive and very comfortable.
My 2010 Equinox
I traded in 05 Dodge Magnum. Needed something with room but that got better mileage. Equinox was my choice. I love my crossover. Fremont Chevrolet was the best experience I have had with a Dealership.
V-6 2010 Equinox LTZ, 4-wheel drive
This is the best GM car I have owned. Most of my driving is highway. In 2 1/2 months, according to the trip computer I am averaging overall 23.5 mpg. The car is a dream to drive, I love the XM radio, On Star navigation, information center and phone, the quality of the leather interior and overall fit & finish. If the cargo area were larger it would be perfect.
So far so good . . .
I set out to buy the best available AWD small SUV. I really didn't care where it was built or who made it. I compared Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4 and the new Chevy Equinox. I purchased the Equinox and have no regrets. The Equinox is larger, nicer looking and rated higher in the mileage department. So far I am averaging 25.4 mpg during a typical 40 mile (one way) daily commute on a mix of secondary roads and state highways. With only 1400 miles on the Equinox, I expect the mileage to improve a bit more.
Love The Equinox
Tried all SUVs on the market. The Equinox was the best fit based on comfort ( I'm very tall ), gas mileage, looks, and affordability. Give one a try. You will be greatly surprised at the room and gas mileage. In town 25-26 mpg is what I get. I purchased the 2.4 L four cylinder. Plenty of power as long as you don't drag race from light to light. I set out to purchase an import, but GM really made this vehicle appealing. Hope this helps.
So far so good
I just picked up my new 2010 Equinox from a local dealer who made this purchase a pleasant experience. I just traded in my YUKON XL so this is quite a change! So far I really enjoy it, it has great pick up, fun to drive and has plenty of interior room. Will have to write another review after I pass 3,000 miles.
Great small SUV
Mine has the V6 option. Rides great and more room than you would expect especially in rear seat area. Son in law says there is more room than in my Avalanche. The gas mileage on the V6 is not what they had claimed with best ever less than 20 combined and if mostly in town drops to 15 or so. Still improvement on the Avalanche I traded in, but could be better. Hopefully that improves once broken in and get past the first oil change too. Interior is very stylish with a friend comparing it to cars like the Lexus, now thats a step up for GM. Shows they are moving in the right direction.
Hits all the right marks
Traded in a 2005 Honda CRV and considered trading for a new one. However, the Equinox is much more vehicle for the money and doesn't have the anonymous styling of the Honda. Parked it in an airport garage and when I returned from my trip a Lexus RX was parked next to it. Without the name badging, you could not have told the difference. The 6 speed auto is smooth and responsive, and the 6 cylinder, while a little thirstier, has plenty of pep. Interior design is well thought out and much classier than the competition. Waited several months to get the right exterior/interior color combination but it was worth it. Don't expect much discount off MSRP.
Love the car BUT
I really love the design and the interior of my Equinox. Cargo space could be bigger. I get OK gas mileage but it's a 6 cyl so it's not as good as the 4 cyl mileage advertised. Problem with it is the computer system. At first the remote start wouldn't work. At the moment it's in the shop for "Air Bag Service" light on, been in shop for 3 days while they hook computer up with GM to find out what the problem is. Ordered a cargo cover which should have been with the car, took two months to get it. Other than minor but time consuming problems I like it. First car I've ever had though that has been in the shop so much
to somewhat stressed. ( HELP ) ME TOO
Back on 4/22/2010 another concerned Chevy owner mentioned engine noise and getting louder I am experiencing. I myself own the same model and I have brought this to my dealerships attention and also to Chevy customer relations. My engine is making a constant ticking noise I never owned a car so loud before the engine sounds like it's 10 yrs old? Chevy is like "oh well there is nothing we can do about it" it's just the way it is? What? This a brand new car. This car should not be making any engine noise it's especially loud when accelerating. The dealer said it's the fuel pressure regulator and there is nothing they can do? I am deeply disappointed in Chevy gm. Please help
So far so good
Just passed the 2000 mile mark, and all is well with the vehicle. I couldn't find one on the lot, so I ordered one. It was well worth the 8 week wait. Took an age to decide "Terrain or Equinox", but I know I've made the right choice. Blue interior lighting, and a power lift gate with the premium cloth finally swayed it the Chevy way. Gas mpg is 5+ miles off advertised, but it's already 90°+ here in Florida, and the air is cranking, so no real complaints. Still early days, but all in all an excellent vehicle.
Equinox fails to meet MPG expectations
We purchased our beautiful Equinox in March '10. The ride and handling are better than expected as is the overall look. BUT, when it come to the gas-millage; Very disappointing! I am 73 ys young and a careful driver. I do not race-off from a stop light/sign and do not drive over 75 on the highway. I do not know where Chevy gets it's right to estimate 32 MPG (highway), the best I can do is 22.5 MPG. Which overall is not bad, but no where is it what I expected. Traded a 05 Murano which got 20 MPG in the city and 24 on the road, so after all the hype about the MPG of the Equinox I feel that Chevy is misrepresenting the facts. Don't get me wrong, I do love it, will C say on my 2nd oil change.
Best decision I made
I had been looking for a new SUV but I wanted to downsize from my Explorer. I love this SUV because it is very roomy inside and I don't feel I had to give up a lot going to the Equinox. Even though it is a 4 speed it has a lot of pick-up and I am loving the fuel savings. I looked at both the 2009 and 2010 which are different. The cost and fuel economy is much better in the 2010 than the 2009 and I actually got a better deal on the 2010.
Great replacement choice
I purchased my 2010 LT2'nox in July to replace a fully loaded '05 Trailblazer. I find it a great value. It's nicely equipped, fun to drive and looks great. I recently took it on a 1,400 mile road trip that included 3 adults and 2 dogs and was pleasantly impressed. It handled beautifully, mileage was impressive with and without A/C, and we were comfortable. So far no problems and I'm loving it. I do agree with everyone about the chrome on the dash storage compartment; when the sun or even a street light hits it you are momentarily blinded!
Great vehicle, can't get past a few item
Overall I like the vehicle. Drives nice, great mileage, many features. Bluetooth, OnStar, backup camera, USB make traveling much more enjoyable. Only 600 miles but I average about 29 on the highway.
Good Experience so far
Took delivery early April and have 1800 miles as of end of May. No problems to date, rides well. Only fault would be inability to see clearly when backing out of a parking space into on coming traffic. Have yet to completely trust camera in this situation as it appears to only look back not to the sides.
Great Tall Person Car
As a tall (6'4") person I have trouble finding cars that fit. This is the most comfortable, height-accommodating vehicle I have owned or driven. The front seat slides way back and still leaves rear leg room. On my first big trip in lots of rain and mountain driving I was shocked to average 28 mpg, but I did use the econo feature quite a bit and monitored the instantaneous mileage readout. I am used to feeling stiff and cramped after a long drive, but this vehicle has allowed me to cut back on my yoga. I don't like the exterior styling, but if this is the design necessary to make the interior so satisfying, I can accept the boxy-bulgy look.
Never A Doubt About My Purchase!
I purchased my Cardinal Red 2LT 4cyl FWD NOX with sunroof, jet black leather & auto lift gate on October 2nd. The car is beautiful (LOVE the ambient lighting) and handles just as I had expected. The stack buttons were a little overwhelming initially, but now are very easy to use. I am glad I went with the 2LT instead of the 1LT as the fog lights, leather, premium stereo & auto climate control are worth the extra $ to me. The 4cyl has plenty of power on the interstate and I'm loving the 27 mpg while driving around town in Kansas City. Do not overlook the Equinox because it's a 'Chevy'. Even the most skeptical will be very surprised with what they find in the new 2010 NOX!
Great SUV
Compared Honda CR-V to Chevy Equinox. Went with the Equinox based on reviews & test drive. Needed a car for long weekend trips. This one so far exceeds our expectations. It's fun to drive, comfortable, and great on gas mileage.
Nice Ride for the Price
So far I have nothing negative to say about my new Equinox. The first tank of gas (mostly hwy) we were over 30 mpg! This is definitely another step in the right direction for GM.
Good vehicle, bad customer service
Mileage wise this vehicle gets about what it advertises. I'm getting around 22-23mpg in the city. Haven't had a chance to take it on a road trip yet, so I can't speak for the highway mileage. My major complaint is that I ordered a cargo shade upon my purchase and after nearly 2 month's its still on back order, and no one can tell me when I can expect it. I called GM and they contacted a dealership that had a cargo shade in KC, MO and the customer who ordered that cargo shade had to wait from July till Dec. If you want an accessory upon purchase then forget getting it in a reasonable amount of time. This bad experience has made me feel the car was not worth buying.
Nice, I guess
I actually have the V-6 Equinox. That is my biggest debate on this vehicle. I like the vehicle. It is nice and roomy. The adjustable backseat works for carrying the kids and then adjusting to carry my work stuff. So far, it seems to be working well. I heard about how well the I4 is performing, but went with the V6 because I like to move and may need to pull a motorcycle trailer. Yet, the engine has not been that impressive. It has an initial lag. The transmission can be a bit harsh. I was just not impressed with it. The only other complaint I have is the fog lights. This model has automatic lights. Yet, I have to reach past the regular light switches to reach the fog lights. annoying
Disappointed
I ordered a new 2010 AWD LTZ Equinox. It was beautiful when it arrived. About 2 weeks of driving the engine started reving up to scary RPM. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the TRANSMISSION. It has been 3 weeks now and no one seems to be able to get a transmission to replace mine. Contacted GM and they do not seem to be concerned either. So for now I am disappointed I bought an Equinox and a GM vehicle. So I wait for the dealership to try to replace my transmission and I am going to have to make a payment on something I have not been able to drive. DISAPPOINTED!
Best crossover you can buy at this price
Just go the SUV and drove for 500 miles and it's so quiet and smooth that it's hard to believe it only costs us less than $24K OTD in CA.
Great Vehicle
I find this vehicle is very fun to drive. My passengers have commented on a very nice ride. Feels bigger than it probably is, but things like parking and space in your garage it is really no more than a reasonable footprint. Head and leg room are excellent. My dealer was very good about finding and swapping a vehicle of my color choice since the one I ordered was taking much more time to get than we anticipated. I would buy it again based on the first 3,000 miles.
Very Impressed
I've had my LS AWD for a about a month now and I can honestly say I am very happy with this vehicle. The standard features are really impressive with this vehicle. XM Stereo, Onstar, push button automatic seat height and lumbar support all standard. The 2.4 L four cylinder with the 6 speed automatic is really a surprise to me. The transmission shifts smoothly and at the appropriate torque level. Acceleration is also quite good for the power train and of course, the fuel economy is atypical for a vehicle this size with AWD. Ride quality and seat comfort are what make this vehicle stand out to me though. The seats are so comfortable and ride so smooth, I find myself cruising; well done GM
I would suggest it over a Ford Escape
I was shopping around for a 4x4 or AWD. After coming back from vacation I decided to stop by a local dealership with little intention on buying, like I said just shopping. I looked at this vehicle and new I liked the looks inside and out. It is roomy, has plenty of features even if it is not the top of the line model, very little road noise, comfortable drive and we can't believe it is a 4 cyl. Oh yeah I got the moon roof... slides back or vents up - LOVE THIS!!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
After months of shopping, I was completely unhappy with the options of the smaller SUVs that were available. My salesman told me that they were coming out with a "transformed" 2010 Equinox soon and I thought I would wait and see. I went to Chevy's website and saw the info on them and loved it immediately. I anxiously awaited the arrival to the dealerships. I went out right away to take a look at one and searched for days to find it in blue at a nearby dealership. Drove both 4cyl and 6cyl. The 4 is nice, good pick up, but had to get the 6 after driving them both. I love this vehicle. It was well worth waiting for! Great vehicle for the price.
So far so good
This is a wonderful car since I had a few GM vehicles. But I had some experience about this brand new version; when I got this car first day back, I had a problem with the infotainment screen that was totally blank out, I have to take to the closer dealer for repair; second problem it was an engine stalling out on the road (within 400 miles in odometer), the dealer had to replace some engine part on it. After 2 times back to dealer, this car is running great till now.
I like it better than our CRV.
We love the new 2010 design. Great features for a smaller SUV. We love all the options you get for your money. We had a 2004 CRV and had NO problems with it in 100,000 miles, but this feels like a Caddy compared to the Honda.
Nice looking, but quality is not there
Owned since August of '09. In Jan '10, heat stopped working. Took two days with the dealer to fix. June '10, starter and air conditioner condenser broke. Dealer had car for three days, fixed the starter, but had to order condenser unit from GM. Still waiting for delivery. Very unhappy with the quality of the parts. What will break next? Also, gas mileage is not what was advertised. Was this vehicle built on a Monday?
finally got it
drives nice a little stiff on bumps, rear window is small with some corner blind spots, has power and streets nicely second day I had it,it snowed handled fine, the blue interior lighting is easy on the eyes, the battery is located in the rear on drivers side so I guess that is why the gas tank is on the passenger side. it rides very quiet and most outside noises are hushed,my experiences so far are all good just some getting use to after driving a full size truck
800 miles and tranny trouble
I was happy till after 800 miles win the transmission intermittently shifts unusually at low and high speeds. Its scheduled for the second appointment to get an extensive test drive. I feel the service dept is trying but they indicate there are no codes and the 6 speed transmission is unusual in nature in that it doesn't shift right/normally. It is also very intermittent but my confidence is pretty much gone in the drive train. In addition the ignition/ steering wheel locked and had a couple of other incidences with the ignition switch, again intermittent problem, service could not duplicate the issue.
Very impressed with the LS
I can honestly say, for a new vehicle this is the greatest value I have ever purchased; GM has really come a long way in a short time. The vehicle has a great ride, smooth over bumps, quiet interior, comfortable seats and all with good performance and fuel economy. The 2.5 L/4 Cyl coupled with the 6 speed transmission is a surprisingly effective combo; so far I haven't found the acceleration lacking and the fuel economy for a vehicle this since is a pleasant surprise. I never had OnStar or XM stereo in my vehicles but I do enjoy having both available to me and will renew. I am very happy with my LS AWD and would gladly purchase the same vehicle if given the choice again it's a great value.
Everything and More...
Had to wait awhile to receive, but well worth the wait. Overall a very good car with great gas mileage. The front cloth seat could be uncomfortable. Got the LT1- wish it would have fog lamps.
$34,000 car, where are amenities?
Love my car, but didn't realize until got it home, no passenger side power seat - what? and No programmable garage door opener--I consider these standard equipment on a mid-priced car. I got the LTZ and added granite paint, 18" wheels, audio/navigation system, I just assumed that it would have a power passenger seat and programmable door opener. I was driving a Buick Rendezvous that had all these amenities and seats that folded flat
2010 Chevy Equinox
First time that I ever purchased a car that had absolutely nothing wrong with it. It has not been back to the dealer since I picked it up. First scheduled trip to the dealer will be for an oil change and tire rotation in two weeks. Very satisfied with this vehicle and the quality of the product.
Continuous Message Popping Up
So I bought my 2010 Equinox LT1 on January 29th of this year. I love it and don't regret buying it. I do have a few problems with it though. About 3 months after I bought it, a message began to pop up whenever I would hook up my iPhone 3G. It would read, "No supported data found. You can safely disconnect the device." It started not even recognizing my iPhone anymore. Now the same message comes up about every 5 minutes or so when I'm driving, and nothing is even hooked up to the car! I have taken it into the dealer 3 times in the past 3 months to get it fixed, and they can't seem to fix the problem. I want to keep the car because I love it, but does this fall under the lemon law?
terrific vehicle so far
I've just had the car one week. With both city and highway driving I averaged over 28 MPG. The seats are very comfortable and all the features are easy to reach. The base model has a lot of fun features providing instant MPG and average MPG, the SERIUS radio, 2 dispays etc. The 4 cylinder with the 6 speed transmission runs like a 6 cylinder. Motor noise is negligible for a car this size with a 4 cylinder.
Gret Value
Just put in 600 miles on the 'Nox, no complaints so far. The ride is short of excellent. Everything positive I read about the reviews were true.
So happy!
We just bought the Equinox in June after 4 months of researching MANY crossovers! I love it!The styling is so nice,I've had 2 different people compare it to a Lexus and Mercedes. No complaints as of yet. It's my first 4 cylinder, so it is taking me a little getting used to that, but it isn't a huge difference from a 6. Roomy enough, love that you can adjust the backseat, remote start, rear view camera (is also taking some getting used to),and the price for this car is excellent! We paid 24,995.00. I also can't understand why editors rated it only 7.5. The new design on this Equinox is so sharp. Had a very hard time finding the LT1 in Black Granite, but it was worth the wait.
Equinox Review
Completely satisfied with vehicle's looks, performance and comfort. I have only 1 problem with my vehicle in that I have an exhaust noise at different speeds and this is very irritating for a new vehicle. A resonator noise.
