Best Vehicle I ever bought
I am old enough to remember and appreciate the utility of station wagons. I can see why they don't make many of the any more. This CUV exceeds all my expectations Very easy to drive with pretty good visibility (except for right rear). Comfortable and quiet but still handles very well. Gas mileage is as advertised. The dash design is gorgeous and as good as or better than any of the competition in this price range.
Fabulous Car
Bought the first 2010 off the lot and I love it. The Equinox got a good write up in our local paper and I decided to check it out. Just what I wanted, and I've been looking for 2 years at edmunds. Love all the extras, and the price was great. Plenty of acceleration for a 4 cyl. Classy interior with plenty of room. With the Sirius radio, On Star and other features I felt like I had bought a Lexus.

2010 Equinox review
I have had the vehicle for over 2 months now. At first, I was a little disappointed with the gas mileage. I now have 4000 miles on it, drove it 400 miles on the interstate at between 65-75 mph and I actually got better than the 32 advertised mpg, I got 33.5. Granted, I did not have on the A/C and it was just my wife and daughter in it, not loaded down at all, but, for a vehicle this size, I LOVE it!!!
Followup of first review 9 28 09
Drove from Massachusetts to N California. First day drove to VA and got 26.5 mpg, with optional V-6 engine. Drove total of 4300 miles across I-40 then up into Co. on into AZ, across UT, NV, and then into CA. Trip average MPG was 22.5, with a fully loaded vehicle. I love this car, and had to pinch myself often. The V-6 engine performed well. In the higher elevations the trans had to work hard and shifted often to keep higher speed up but did well. Never felt beat up after driving 500 miles a day. Driving at night on SR 50 in Nevada was a kick, the interior lights were really cool set up dim. XM radio so nice, we never played anything else. America's Loneliest Highway, well, pretty fast.
No Complaints
Wife and I like it a lot. Nice styling, ride, handling, features, value. No beefs about the gas mileage.
Highlander vs NOX
I had 01 Highlander with 200k and needed to replace the engine! I ordered the Nox and compared to the HL the Nox wins in all catigories expect cargo volume. Very quite, smooth, solid vehicle. Seems to ride bigger than it is. Not sure about the mileage yet only have 336kls on it.
LOVE IT
We traded in our 2007 z71 tahoe for the equinox and we don't regret it. The gas mileage has been 22mph but this has been a great comfy vehicle.
Great car when it works
I love everything about this car when it works...the USB port has an error (always say AUX out with 2 different ipods and cords, it has been in the shop 4 times (I only have 7400 miles on it) because GM didn't get all of the metallic dust out of the engine from the casting. CAM Sensors cleaned, then replaced (x2), then CAM actuators replaced. As I said it looks darn good, gets great gas mileage and is decently peppy for a 4 cylinder. I still sort of recommend it, but I am embarrassed that this car stalled and bucked at red lights (almost pushed me through a few times) as much as it did. I mean embarrassed as in this is an American made car and we need to step our game up.
GM Believer
I had a 2001 Toyota RAV4 and was totally convinced that Japanese cars could not be beat. I decided I was going to replace the RAV4 and began research by attending an auto show and test driving and just looking at some vehicles. The in contention were the RAV4, the CR-V and the Subaru Forrester. Well the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox came out of no where. And was so impressed, I bought the LS on the spot. Rides like a cloud, has every amenity you realistically need and more than you can believe, for a base model. I believe you really get a lot for your money. With the 4 cylinder and a mix of city and hwy driving I got 26 miles to the gallon. I never achieved this rating with my RAV4. GM hit a HR
impressive electronics
My lighter HHR was sportier & handled better, but a lot noisier, so I appreciate the quiet luxury feel of this one. I would delete gaudy chrome, useless roof rack & lower the body to close the gap over the tires. Lower center of gravity always improves handling.
My New MPG SAVER
This is my first smaller SUV, and so far it has been great, MPG is awesome, ride is quiet, I don't see a need for the V6, unless you tow, if not, go for the standard 4, save money and Gas. The difference in Horsepower and Torque isn't noticeable, less then 1 second 0-60mph. Purchased a 1LT equipped the same as a 2LT, minus the power driver seat and radio upgrade. Wish I could have gotten the radio upgrade, I am used to upgrading my radios in my cars and that would have done the trick. Standard radio seems ok so far, with 2 young kids, I sure it will be fine.
Love our Nox
Watched this CUV from the Auto shows and editor reviews until I could finally order it on 4/10/09. Our white LTZ arrived on 7/3/09. Now nearly 8,000 miles later we couldn't be happier. I see yuppies in their much more expensive SUV's taking a second look, but little do they know that my Chevy is more feature rich then what they paid another $10,000 or more for. Have had no problems or service calls. Truly like the idea of having roadside assistance for 5 years, but figure I won't need it. The chrome appearance package is worth the extra $$$ for the look it provides. Getting 29mpg with 4cyl driving 77mph with the AC on. Test drive to see for yourself.
Nice ride
It took three months to arrive but when it finally did I was very impressed. The ride is super smooth and quiet. The handling is competent but not sporty (not expected in an SUV though) I'm still not getting more than 24 mpg (mix highway and city), but I'm getting slightly better mpg with every tank. The Nav and backup camera are awesome. It really makes backing in to those tight spots easy. Yes there are a bunch of buttons on the console. Is it a problem? No. At least not for your average person with reasonable intelligence. You have your Nav controls, your radio controls and your environmental controls. What is so hard about that?
Amazing SUV!
We were in the market for an SUV and after visiting several dealerships to look at the RAV4, CRV and Santa Fe among others we decided to stop in at the Chevy dealer to look at the Equinox. There was not a single one on the lot...all sold out. After calling about 10 dealerships we finally found one and took one for a test drive. We fell in love immediately. The quality of materials, performance and interior/exterior appearance was better than anything else we tested. It just feels like you're driving a car worth thousands more. Bought a silver one that same week and we're so happy we did. Highly Recommended!
First GM vehicle in the family
4cyl, 2LT, FWD, power liftgate. It feels like a European car - full of high-tech features, nice handling, smooth ride, quiet, well-built, economical. Everything is automatic, from lamps to climate - you just enter it, switch to "D", drive, get the key out, leave. Smooth, quiet ride. Looks and feels way more expensive than it is. For families with car seats - it is easy to remove rear headrests by unlocking them first. Just insert a thick needle (or straightened paper clip) into each small hole in the plastic ring around the metallic rod of the headrest, and use something firm to push the needle towards the lock. Once both locks are unlocked, the rear headrest slides up easily.
Exceeds Expectations
I have about 1500 miles on my Summit White LTZ AWD V6 and could not be happier. Fit and finish inside and out are first rate. Seats are very comfortable, ride is smooth and quiet. Transmission shifts smoothly, AWD works great and engine has plenty of power if you put your foot into it. My only performance complaint is I would prefer a faster throttle response. I am getting about 21 MPG in my part city part highway commute. Performance and mileage have both improved quite a bit since new. This is the first time since 1991 that I have bought an American car. I tested several other vehicles in this class and kept going back to the Equinox.
Check it out
If your looking at the CR V you should check into the 2010 Equinox. Would never consider a GM before but this car changes that. Brought a LT no Navi, 6 cylinder. Im really happy with my purchase it handles well the interior is excellent and looks great
GM Finally Has Beaten The Imports
I recently bought an 2010 Equinox LS. I drove every import SUV/Crossover you can think of. None had the room, the gas mileage, the quiet interior or the styling of the 2010 Equinox. The RAV4 was too cramped in the drives seat. The CR-V is slightly more roomy but not nearly as good as the 2010 'Nox. Neither was as quiet. The standard features and quality of materials are excellent on the 'Nox. Test drive one before you buy something else. The mileage is for real, 22.3MPG city and 31.8MPG highway.
AWD LTZ V6 Review
We sold our 2008 Saturn Vue Redline and purchased this Equinox. What an improvement. Amazing difference. Rides better, quieter, same power, and many more creature comforts. There are few options I probably wouldn't have opted for but with limited availability beggars can't be choosers.
So far so good
I love my equinox. I was looking at a 2009, but hated that they got the same gas mileage as the Traverse...so I started looking at a Traverse. It was too rich for my blood. Then the 2010 NOX ad looked nice with a much improved MPG...took my wife on a whim just to look at one...both loved the improvements and lower price and left with a new Chevy.
Has to be best in class
I bought a Equinox 1LT AWD with the available 3.0L DI V6 engine, it was hard to find for under 29K, but I found one. I have to say, right when I saw the 'Nox, I fell in love with the design. The interior impressed me even more, love the dual cockpit design. Ive had it a few weeks, and no problems to list. Very easy to drive. Also, if your going to be buying a Equinox with AWD, I do suggest getting the V6 as well. The 4-cylinder is ok, but I needed the extra power of the V6, that's subjective to how much power you want.
A Home Run for Chevy !!!
The new Equinox is a huge improvement over the former vehicle. Our last vehicle was a 2008 Equinox Sport. This version has been improved in every way. Smooth ride. Very quiet. Tasteful styling. Better fuel economy. My parents like ours so much that they bought an Equinox LTZ AWD w/ V6.
2010 Equinox
Overall great vehicle, excellent styling & interior appointments - at this price point. The LTZ 6 cylinder is very solid & a pleasure to drive. Very well equipped even at base model. GM has a hit a home run with this one. I would highly recommend this vehicle. The ride is quiet & firm; great visibility from elevated crossover seating
It's OK...But
I've been trying to figure out what kind of personality disorder designed the interior controls on this car. The bizarre configuration of the heating devices is just nothing short of irresponsible. You have to pull over and stop to adjust the settings. Go ahead and TRY to reset the trip odometer when you fill the gas tank. After sitting there for 5 minutes, you can eventually get to the item that you need to reset. The interior controls just make me mad every time I need to touch them. I've actually looked at other vehicles available because this issue is so irritating to me.
2010 Equinox LS 4 Cyl.
We have only had our Equinox for a week now but absolutely love it. We traded in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 and don't miss it at all. The price of the LS is very reasonable and the features you get are really impressive. The inside of this car looks like one of $30+K price-point. Power from the 4 Cyl. is fine, we are not speed demons and notice very little difference from our Jeep V-6 and this, except the Equinox is WAY more efficient. Eco mode and standard is hard to tell any difference, a little more shifting in ECO mode but that's it. Awesome car!
A Winner from Chevy
We wanted more room (baby) but didn't want poor gas mileage or sticker shock. Great value for the price. I don't believe the epa city mileage, but I drive mostly highway and am averaging 26+ overall. Finally a vehicle with enough leg and head room (I'm only 6'1"). The sliding rear seat is awesome. Love the look of this crossover and the mocha steel is a great color. Overall a pleasure to drive!
can't beat this suv
so far this suv has been bulletproof ,great gas mileage 28 mpg , plus this truck is very quiet and i suggest 4 cyl with front wheel drive 1 second quicker to 60 mph than awd
Problems with navigation and radio . . .
My 2010 Equinox included a navigation system which was perfect since I use a nav everyday in my business. The best feature for me was that it allowed me to punch in and save several addresses at the beginning of my trip then just hit the new destination when I was ready. Well so much for that. It now: 1. takes several miles before it even recognizes where I am 2. no longer saves a new destination 3. the compass style select button works intermittently 4. The radio volume and the station save work intermittently! The local dealer says it can't be fixed and it will cost thousands to replace. VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least!
Skip the Toyota
At 6'7" I need some leg room. I was looking at Toyota Highlanders because the Rav4 did not have enough leg room and I was sick of Chevy's (having had multiple problems with my Blazer) My father in-law bought one of these and raved about it so I stopped at a dealer and tried it out. Does not feel like a Chevy and for the price I got the all wheel drive which I could not afford on the Highlander. So far so good, no complaints.
Luv My 2010 Equinox
I purchased my 2010 Equinox 2 weeks ago and so far it has been a great experience. I love the comfort level inside, the exterior design (well the front end is kind of big), gas mileage, and creature comforts offered in the cabin.
Nice Highway Vehicle
The Nox is an excellent highway vehicle. Smooth yet taut ride, handles well for a crossover. I'm saving 30% on gas vs my old Mitsubishi Endeavor. However, big blind spots and tiny mirrors really limit side and rear vision. I've heard concerns about the power of the 4 cyl engine, but I've found it to be adequate. The 6 speed transmission works well to keep the engine in its power band, but it does take a while to get used to 6500 RPM shifts when you have your foot in it. For my shape, the drivers seat is just average for comfort (I prefer a flat seat over the heavily bolstered ones in the Nox). But I really like the rest of the interior (I'm a fan of the blue interior lighting)
Love My New Equinox
I stalked this car for months, and after a 10 week order wait time, received the car about a week ago. I could not be happier with the Equinox. It completely has lived up to the hype during this first week. I even look forward to my commute now!
Real Performer Plus
I purchased the 2-LT with the optional V-6 engine 264 HP. I'm glad I did. Planning on lots of X-country & long haul driving. Got 22.5 mpg on the first 300 mile trip. Expecting more as engine breaks in. Once I got used to how the trans shifted I was able to really make the car move out. Very smooth and powerful acceleration. Very fast and sure. The manual shift feature really adds a sportiness to the performance. Very sure footed and sporty ride. Feels great as speed. Corners real well steering is responsive and accurate. Interior design nice.Gauges easy to see and read. Night gauge and dash lights are cool. Remote start fog lights rear backup camara nice. Dual exhaust looks and sounds great
Awesome
I got my LT1 Equinox end of December.Could not be happier. I had a problem with slush (Buffalo NY weather) getting into the front door lower panels. I have since had the fitted mud guards installed and the problem is almost totally fixed. There is a cheap rubber guard on the door bottoms but they don't do enough and do seem shoddy. If that is the biggest problem I have I will be very happy. I love this SUV !!!!
Enjoying the ride!
I looked at the CRV, Forester, Venza, Rogue. I couldn't get excited about any of them. Waiting has its rewards though as the 2010 Equinox became available. I like the looks and comfort this car has to offer. The large leather seats fit me well, I guess I'm just GM-sized! I'm enjoying the OnStar, Bluetooth connection and XM radio communication features. The ride is very smooth and quiet. The 6 cylinder engine moves the car smartly down the road. The 6 speed tranny seems to work well. Letting off on the accelerator is like applying the brakes since it seems to adjust to the change instantly and starts slowing down. I appreciate the backup camera and backup sensors when I put the car in reverse
3 Months & Loving It
I researched the heck out of this before I bought it and haven't been disappointed, except maybe the sluggish acceleration (freeway ramps, etc.) Love the looks inside & out. Extremely comfortable seats, plenty of room inside. This is my first Chevy and first American car in maybe 10 years. I had to pay top dollar and fight off others trying to buy it out from under me, but no regrets. I have about 2,500 miles now and last week I got 35 mph on an all interstate trip...pretty impressive! If you're looking for a crossover, you should definitely give the Equinox a try!
I was wrong
This is a 2nd chance review. We took the car on it's first long trip (still less than 1000 miles), and it got almost 30mpg on the highway. It was a pleasure to drive for an extended period, unlike the Subaru we rented for a vacation. I should have waited before submitting that first review, but I was very disappointed at that time.
Enjoying my Equinox
We've had the Equinox for about a month now and really enjoy it. We love the new styling both inside and out. The ride is smooth and quiet. Acceleration Is typical for a four cylinder. The interior is roomy, comfortable and the sliding rear seat gives back seat passengers plenty of leg room. If you need more storage capacity it's nice to be able to slide the rear seat forward. The LTX package has plenty of extras including the power lift gate. We added the sunroof and 18 wheels and stayed under 30k.
Equa-Looser
Had the vehicle for 1,100 miles, discovered no oil in engine--Engine used excess oil, engine replaced by GM after some haggling, China must have forgotten to put in the piston rings Transmission Slips from time to time at low speeds Seat difficult to adjust to a comfortable position Left Arm Rest to low to properly rest elbow and hold steering wheel at cross member location of steering wheel Window seal too high and slants not allowing proper height adjustments and making elbow slip off easily Driver Seat difficult to adjust to a comfortable position Radio controls difficult to reach comfortably, purchase the steering wheel control option, it is worth it
Great Performance for Small SUV
Did a lot of research, loved the look of exterior on new Equinox. Drove it and loved it. Has power when you want it, enough to pass others on highway. Good mileage on highway- very mediocre in city driving. Love the look of the inside, very ergonomic. My wife (5'0") hates the front passenger seat, claims it's uncomfortable on her hips- not sure if that's a height thing. Overall a wonderful small suv.
meets my needs
I was looking for a car that would make my highway driving comfortable with good gas mileage, as well as make my short commute enjoyable. It has exceeded my expectations. Furthermore, everyone who has seen this car has had nothing but good things to say about its styling and comfort. Would I buy another one...in a heartbeat!
2010 Chevy Equinox
This is a great vehicle and its about time more SUVs are passing the 30+ MPG mark. The 2010 Equinox drives very smooth and deftly handles Baltimore's toughest pot holes and curves, it also accelerates quickly and seamlessly through its 6-speed transmission regardless of having a 4 cylinder engine even with econo mode engaged, and the Equinox keeps road noise where it belongs...Outside Very easy, comfortable and fun to drive. My wife is already saving more than 2 1/2 times her weekly fuel costs from when she owned a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. This vehicle also comes standard 6 airbags, adjustable back seats, has outstanding crash and braking scores and Electronic Traction/stability controls
What an suv
Just the vehicle I dreamed of. It comes with all the amenities expected in a contemporary SUV.Just the feel and looks of it brings joy; with great MPG, you cannot ask for anything else.
road review
just took a trip from alamogordo nm to abq nm about 440miles round trip. road type included secondary, interstate, and city. Mileage overall was 33.8. the cabin was quite. handling was great and leg room galore. i don't know what more you could ask for the price. the 4 banger reacted strong, stronger than my old 3.4 six. i think gm has a winner here.
LTZ v6 3.0 lt equinox 2010
fun to drive, has lots of features. more than I expected.
Chevy has a Winner
We looked at a Ford Escape as well as a few Asian brands, but this small SUV really showed up well in quality, appearance, and fuel efficiency. I feel that the 2010 model is a vast improvement over the 2009 model. I especially liked the handling, or "fun- to-drive" feeling that this SUV provides. And we had 4 adults and 2 end tables in the vehicle after a little vacation shopping and everything fit comfortably - lots of interior space. The 4 cyl engine isn't super strong, but does fine under most uses, and we are getting over 30 mpg anytime we are going over 45 miles an hour. Don't write this off just because it is a Chevy!
A Car for the AGES
Had to order the car; finally arrived after 8 weeks. The wait was worth it. The 4 cyl. has more then enough pep; no problems with merging into hi-speed traffic. Comfortable front seats; all controls are easy enough to reach; great sound system. The LTZ model has all I wanted in the basic pkg except for the Navigation system which I got. Luv it! Great ride although I've only got 600 miles on it and have yet to take a "trip" in it.
Chevy Hits a Homerun
After a summer of searching, I'm glad I waited for the 2010 Nox. At 6'7" I couldn't squeeze into the Rav, CRV, Santa Fe..... It came down to VW Tigan vs. NEW Equinox. Chevy won hands down based on expanded cabin size vs. '09, MPG and overall value. It fits in my garage better than my old four door sedan too....an added bonus! Don't expect much off sticker or incents given on other Chevys. But grab one quick before they figure out they put too much into the 2010 for the money. This one competes with SUVs in a larger class.
Best Small SUV since Aztek
We started this journey of searching for a new car last year. Dealer after dealer car after car. I even considered buying foreign for the first time in my life. However my wife loved her Aztek and wanted something that would compare to size comfort and cargo space with all the bells and whistles. We drove Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Buick, and then one last chance for GM we went to John Miles Chevrolet. They were so laid back they let the car sell itself. We saw the Equinox 2010 sitting in front of the showroom. We drove it and the rest is history.
Love this car but wheres my fuel going?
Love this car, bought it in Henderson Nevada and promptly drove it to Salt Lake City 425 miles and averaged 18 mpg. I was told that we were going to get a hell of a lot better mileage than that. Anybody have any suggestions? If not I believe I am going to opt for the 60 day return policy. I bought this car looking for good fuel economy as far as that goes I am very disappointed!!!
