2017 Chevrolet Cruze Premier 4dr Hatchback (1.4L 4cyl Turbo 6A)

I bought a Cruze Premier hatchback new in 2017. It is totally loaded with all options. Even the back seats are heated. I can start it from my cell phone to cool it down /heat it up while I am in the mall. I have taken it to FL from ON, Canada twice. It cruises at any speed you want , legal or illegal. They could have called it the Cruze Century if you get my meaning. (WINK) In the city it has lots of pep, on the highway, you do need considerable room to pass at 50mph, on the expressways, well, be very careful. Entrance ramps are no problem. Other than lacking power I really like this vehicle. I have the Kalahari interior and always get compliments on it from new passengers. The seats could use more lower back support, but I have driven it for 9 hours straight without any real discomfort. Once you become accustomed to it, the start stop system is fine. The car engine stops unnoticeably, but does start with a wee shudder that was annoying, but if you go to YouTube you will find a way to shut it off. Strangely enough, when I edid that I missed the restarting shudder and turned it back on. It is kind of nice sitting in traffic burning no gas while the cars around you are idling their money away. It will restart itself after a set amount of time, such as at a long stoplight. FL has plenty of those! I have tried to trick the restarting system in lifting my foot off the brake and quickly pressing the gas pedal to see if I can beat the restarting system. Nope! In three years of ownership I have spent nothing in repairs and only have paid for regular maintenance. The heated steering wheel and seats are very welcome in our Canadian winters. I find the cars heats up quickly /cools down fast and the defrosting systems work well. The doors shut with a nice solid sound. No squeaks or rattles yet at all. ON STAR did work very well in the vehicle. I can recharge my computer while driving if I wish. The wireless cell phone charger works very well. Automatic high beam feature works perfectly. At a steady 77mph I get 34 mpg according to the computer. If something catastrophic happened to my Cruze, I would be out shopping for another the next day. I really enjoy the car.

I bought this 2017 Chevy Cruz diesel and June 2017. Right now I have approximately 45,000 miles on it and it is now been in the shop once for anything other than service. While driving the fuel mileage is 44 to 48 mpg and highway 62 to 65 mpg and I had a high of 71.2 mpg when I really drove easy. All hand figured not computer. The car is very quick for size and will squeal the tires from a dead stop. It is also so quiet that if I don’t tell anyone nobody knows it’s a diesel. I have never purchased a car or pick up from any company where the fuel mileage far exceeds what the window sticker says.

Cruzin in the manual hatch

Even with a bit of a heavy foot I still get an average of 29 MPG whil driving about 90% in town. Its a solid overall car that has some great lines and can be pretty much outfit just the way you want. It's worth a drive in either Automatic or Manual. The bluetooth / apple carplay / android auto are great and make it more affordable than having to add options or go up trim levels for something so easy to replicate.

Stuck With A Lemon

I bought a 2017 Chevy Cruze for my daughter who will be graduating from college soon. I took money out of my retirement fund because I wanted her to have a good, reliable car. The problems began almost immediately. There is a system that is supposed to save on gas use called auto-stop. It does one of 4 things when you apply the brake to stop the car. 1. The car stops and the engine idles like a normal car, when you put your foot on the gas pedal, the car starts moving forward. 2. The car stops and the engine turns off, when you put your foot on the gas pedal, the engine starts up and the car goes forward. 3. The car stops and the engine turns off, when you put your foot on the gas pedal, the car seems to pause for a moment, then the engine rattles a little and the engine comes back on and the car goes forward. 4. The car stops and the engine turns off, when you put your foot on the gas pedal, nothing happens and you have to shift the car in to park and manually restart the engine because it has completely turned off. I took the car in to the service manager and he test drove it and saw what it is doing. However, he told me that there is nothing that can be done to fix the problem because it is controlled by a computer component that can not be fixed or even accessed by any Chevy service department. The following day I called a different Chevy dealer service department and I was told the same thing. The problem can not be fixed. I can not afford to buy my daughter another car so she is stuck with a LEMON that can’t be fixed. I am considering talking to a lawyer to find out if I have any legal options at this point.

A full step backwards from last generation

I was given a '17 Cruze LT to use for 5 days while my car was in for service and I was less than impressed. My mom had a '13 Cruze LS that I drove a few thousand miles when she was leasing it, it was in many ways a far better small car. The new Cruze uses a start/stop mode to save fuel, it was terrible. The engine "shudders" when it stops and starts. Very poor execution of this "feature". The transmission also always feels like it's trying to find a gear for max fuel economy and when you need to accelerate the car feels "lazy". The seats were also poor, very flat versus the last gen which were not too bad. Overall it seems obvious the entire car was developed on a tight budget and it really felt and looked "cheaper" that the last Cruze. Weak effort GM.
