Used 1990 Chevrolet Corvette Consumer Reviews
2nd Hand Beauty
Nice car, good buy for anyone who wants a sports car but doesn't have big money to buy one. Still turns heads.
King of the Hill
BUY ONE.......Yeah, it's a mid-life crisis joke of a car at surface level. But for the money, nothing can compare. A real DOHC V-8, hand built and almost unbreakable. The C4 Vette body and interior are a love-it, or hate-it thing, but the performance is worth it. Unlike most older Vettes, this one still keeps up with current performance cars, and without all those pesky driver aides. Useless car in the rain, the glass top is not pleasant at temps above 95degrees, but otherwise these are wonderful cars. The ride is firm, very firm, so don't expect to drive it daily on potholed roads. HVAC is OK, radio is OK if working (separate amps on each speaker can be a problem). Cargo area is decent sized. I would NOT use this as a daily driver or even long distance cruiser, but for a fun blast through a twisty road, or an occasional track-day, you can't go wrong. They are dirt cheap right now, and its the ONLY Corvette to date with 4-valve per cylinder technology........Best advice I can give, buy a mid-mileage one, something in the 30-60,000 mile range. Too low and nothing will work, too high and it might be worn out........

17 year old Corvette, still fun
I have a C5, and I had a chance to buy this 1990, for cheap, could not turn it down, new clutch, great sound, needs detailing, but any C4 is a bargain these days, if you find one buy it. These are still simple enough to work on, except for the electrical issues that are hard to figure out...lucky for me, my car is fine.
After 4 years of owning one of my dream cars
Buy these cars now!! Before the value jumps through the roof!! Cannot believe I got to the point that I can afford one! I bought mine(pristine and very well documented) with 16k miles on it 4 years ago for $20,500 after years of research(Original owner bought it for $80,000 with the dealer mark up!). It was one of my dream cars when I was 18...and the collector car motto...If it was a big deal when you were 18, it will be hugely sought after, and expensive when you're 50. I bought it when I was 42, because I didn't think I would ever be able to afford it at 50. Now on to the performance. I now have 22,000 miles on it, and a huge smile on my face! It just gets up and gos! It shocks my friends when reving to 7000 rpm and sliding out the rear end going into 2nd(with 315 rear tires)...something to be said about no traction control in 1990! The only downer that I can mention is the same as any car with the flip up headlights. The motors tend to go bad. No big deal. Put me at a stop light against a 1990 Ferrari Testarossa, Porche 911 turbo, or a Lamborghini Countach(not a Diablo, can't beat that $250,000 plus car), and it is an embarrassing race for them. Of course in the years after, Ferrari and Porsche caught up, and passed the Vette, but in 1990, these European exotics that cost twice as much were outdone by a Corvette!

Red Vette Convertible
I purchased this Corvette for fun and it has certainly not disappointed. While a bit tight to get into and out of, you can't drive it without a smile on your face. Power is adequate, not mind boggling. Handling is great. Convertible top, though manual, goes up and down with ease.
You Can NOT Beat A Vette!!!!
Bought My 1986 Z51 Coupe this Summer and it Simple Destroys Any Other Car I've Ever Owned!! I Can Not Say Enough About the Sheer Amount of Torque in These Cars!! People Talk about H.P. but thats because They Do Not Understand what Chevy and Every Corvette Owner Knows,YOU CANNOT REPLACE THE POWER TORQUE!! Any any Gear(I have the 4 + 3) I Can Snap a Neck Back at the Drop of a Dime it is Amazing for a Car that is Almost 20 Years Old and Really has No Rivals Other than Exotics,NEW 2003 Cobras or of Course Other Vettes!! Please at Any Chance You Get In Life at Least Test Drive One of these Animals!!!
The king of the hill
Engine was designed by Lotus, built by Mercury marine, and is a Chevrolet. Parts and a certified mechanics can be a difficult find. Engine is very reliable and always runs strong. There are examples out there with over 200,000 miles and still run great!

Sleepy garage find
The car not been driven during the past 10 yrs, although it was always stored indoors. The car showed little wear, needed new tires, fluids, hoses, belts & an "awakening" by a garage. Fun car to drive, but difficult to enter/exit. Gas mileage is surprisingly good. The ride is comfortable. I'm enjoying the car needless to say. Love the way the car handles & performs. Have been taking it to car events & rallies.

Red Rocket -
I own an 87 Corvette - only 30,000 miles on it - runs like a new car, performs like a race car. Chev was right at the top of their game. IT's a joy to work on, modify and lots of stuff to buy to make it even better... cheap to buy used, and cheap to modify to stellar levels [compared to other high po cars]. No problems, except the alarm system.
Red Rocket
Bought it new and store it every winter. It is completely original down to the tires. Each spring is a kick in the pants when it is brought out of the garage. The 6 speed shifts smoothly and easily tops 100 in 3rd. On trips it always gets at least 28 miles per gallon. What more could you ask for...and when I bought it there was a $10k factory incentive so it only cost $28k new. WOW!!

Best performance bargain out there
Now the average joe can afford a supercar. For the price of a used Honda Accord, you can purchase one of the highest-performing cars from the '90's. These cars sold for over $70,000 new (over $100,000 in today's dollars) and only 6,000 or so were made. I predict that they will skyrocket in value in 5 to 10 years.

After 18 years...Still a great Vette!!
After 18 years, still a "eye catcher" and one fast machine! Approx. 122k miles with no major repairs! Best performance car I've owned! If you want a great looking, fast and a joy to drive find yourself a C4 Vette! Handles great and lots of torque!
ZR-1 After 10 years of driving
Just a thrill and fun car to drive. I thought that the "muscle" cars like from the 60's would never come back. I was wrong. I bought mine with 12500 miles on it, was just broken in and ready to really go!
My 1990 Chevy Corvette ZR1
I bought mine for $8,000 on cargurus.com in Dallas, Tx. I gave it away after mechanic died to a young college girl on graduation from high school. Got 37 hwy & 33 city. Am trying to find out which astronaut got it after NASA bought all 186 built.

Cool car and a performance bargain
A very unique and quirky car compared to what's available today. Mine has a 6 speed and those are hard to find and this is a huge plus if you like manual transmissions. The main advantage to the car is it's a real canvas for what you can make it into and responds well to since in 1990 it got a higher compression piston package. So with a few bucks and elbow grease it can run in the 12's. Parts supply is generally good, but assume you'll need to sort it out when buying especially rubber bits like hydraulic lines and weatherstripping. Minuses are the chassis rigidity and the mechanics of getting in/out of it are interesting and what is most likely keeping the prices down. I have an '89 as well and I feel the GM redesign of the interior in 1990 was a huge let down. Not only did the Atari gauges go away, but the plastics in the dash and door panels are lower quality. But overall a nice affordable sports car that can be very reliable, efficient, and fun to drive.
