Will this thing ever die?

The ol' girl turned over 311K today, and has never had major (4.3L Z engine) surgery. I've replaced bolt on parts, and had the manual tranny rebuilt, but this Chevy has just run and run. She left me stranded just once in the past 15 years when the fuel pump went. Original universal joints in the drive shaft! Pulled a 4000# camper many miles without complaint. The BIG problem was de-laminating paint. Was a problem, because the paint just ain't there anymore.

I was looking for a truck with enough power to tow my race car around. I liked the clean lines of the Chevy. The body sheet metal is durable. 12 years old and only 1 ding noticed. The interior is very comfy and yet durable. The factory radio/tape deck sound worse than a clock radio. However, it is very easy to swap out for an aftermarket head unit. 99,000 miles and I have only had an alternator, wiper motor, and the A/C condenser go out. The engine easily pulls my 4,000 lb race car and trailer. The newer vortec offers 50 more horsepower and better fuel economy so if you can afford go for a 1996 or newer. The 4L60E transmission get a bad rap but with reg fluid and filter change is strong.

This truck is a rare find. 1993 Chevy regular Cab, 5.7 V8, longbox, and a five speed. I regularly tow 2 to 4 4-wheelers without a problem. While unloaded I regularly get 18 miles to the gallon, and while towing I get 15. Not bad for a full size with 120,000 on it. It is also very comfortable with aftermarket conversion van style seats.

Quality vehicle throughout. I purchased used from Al Serra Chevrolet in Michigan. Vehicle has not needed much - just regular maintence (tires, exhaust, brakes, etc.) At best, I probably have spent 1500 in 4 years of regular maintenance. I receive many compliments on the truck because of its cleanliness at 11 years old or its color (bright teal metallic).

Third owner, (bought at 145K) for only $1,200 bucks, book value at time of purchase was $6K. Best truck to ever leave the assembly line. Has the 5.7L TBI 350 and 4L60E O/D Trans. Has Advantage Enterprise Conversion on it including wood (real oak) trim around doors and instrument panel, has mood lighting up top, Goshen leather seats, Z71 Pkg I would not get rid of this truck for anything. Have put around $1,500 into it but it was all normal Wear'N'Tear items that give after age and mileage. I'm still $3,300 under what it was worth. I've put on an Airaid TBI spacer and a Hypertech Street Runner chip for a little more grunt. Will definately put in a GM Goodwrench Crate Motor when the time comes
