bought a LEMON yellow
the car stalls suddenly without warning while shifting, the spare tire is a joke, it blew out on a major highway, leaving me no choice but to have the car towed on a flatbed, the back seats are very narrow and hard. poor exceleration and loose gears
Not too bad for a platform this aged
It is well known that the Cav is based an an aged platform. They have made updates, which can be seen in improved performance and the like. The car is relatively fun to drive. On the reverse side, the car rattles like no other, makes unusual noises, and does not have the most forgiving of manual transmissions. The car has rather poor fit and finish, and certain signs of age are already noticeable. Compared to my 2001 Chrysler Concorde LXi I would expect better gas mis mileage to be better.

Lots of problems
I bought this car last year and it had 91,000 miles on it. I am close to 100,000 now & had lots of problems. A spring in the clutch system was broken making it impossible to switch gears with the pedal. $1,100 to fix this and the auto-repair guy had never ever seen this happen. Sensors are bad and keep sending check engine messages or check fluids when everything is fine. Now I have another $500 in repairs because the muffler is gone and the transistor that regulates the fan for heat/AC is dead. I could change that myself ($25) but it is impossible to put the blower motor back since it uses special plastic screws. Only an auto- repair shop can do it.
Cavay
It is great, a lot of fun!
I was fooled by his car
I buy this car because my Toyota Tercel was stolen, but in comparison with this car, the Cavalier is an incredible gass drinking machine. $20.00 dollars a per week in comparison with $12.00 of the tercel. Also I went with this car to service 3 times, because the rear lights suddenly burns out, and the dealer only tells me that they will keep changing the bulbs since this is a normal behaivor. Not to mention the cheezy, cheapy interiors. I am very dissapointed
