Wow, what a car! Best bang for the buck. Great interior even if somewhat limited visibility. The '19 model makes up for that with the review camera/mirror feature though. Awesome power and it puts it down to the ground without being as sinister and scary as the Corvette. Can't go wrong with this car.

I have been a Corvette lover for years. I have owned 2. Was ready to upgrade to the Z06 so I started shopping. It took me about 3 hours to make a decision between the Corvette and the Camaro ZL1. I ended up with the ZL1. No regrets. After driving both the Camaro has awesome speed and is much easier to get in and out of. Don't hesitate to make this purchase. Even now when I see a Corvette on the road I don't second guess my decision. The car I got also had an upgraded AWE exhaust and a ROTO FAB cold air intake. It is running close to 670-680 HP. LOVE THIS CAR!!!!

30 years driving...THIS is my favorite car of all

I absolutely LOVE this car with 1 reservation which I’ll cover ar the end. Beautiful styling inside and out. I drove Chargers (modded R/T, followed by 392 SRT) and wanted the next step up, the Hellcat...but when my SRT was mistaken for a Hellcat regularly, I realized Dodge made a mistake. There should be much more style differentiation between the Hellcat and SRT. If I’m buying a Hellcat I want no question that’s what I bought for that $$. The ZL1 stands out..It does not look like the other models. People have asked “what is that?” “Is that a camaro?”. Absolutely menacing. Score 1 Chevy. Performance: insane acceleration, power, predicability. 10-speed Auto transmission shifts like a superbike. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Read up on this cars specs and flexibility in customing it’s performance, amazing. Not much on the road to challenge you. Interior: I was prepared to be miserable in this car comfort wise....you feel like you’re in a black ops military stealth cockpit lol. 5’8” 280lb bodybuilder...and I’m supremely comfortable. You can cruise comfortably as long as you like and you’ll love every moment. Every feature is laid out so cleanly and logically that every thing you do is inherently intuitive (looking at you Ford when you feel the need to remagine the function of a blinker?? Why???). Tech: This too caught me off guard. My first HUD (heads up display), adds so much to why this car is an “experience”. Custom led lighting (subtle and not overdone. Gorgeous screen, CarPlay, surface device charging, Wi-Fi, OnStar, GPS, crazy control over driving modes, PDR, on and on...like I said...it feels like you’re in some high end military cockpit. 1 reservation = exterior. After buying the ZL1..I realized GM paint issues when I saw it in the sun. Marring/scratches alllllll over a BRAND NEW car. INEXCUSABLE! The clear coat is so thin, pressing your thumbnail into the bumber for example leaves a scratch. Forget washing it without marring it everytime. Thankfully I know a auto paint Jedi. He spent 60 HOURS paint correcting!!!! Then applied CeramicPro to protect it. NOW its absolutely beautiful in any light. This was so disappointing I wrote GM execs. Let me so though, all of the good is SO GOOD, I’m happy still spending that $ out of pocket to make it right. However, GM really needs to address this in manufacturing. Hope this was helpful!

Having owned many, many Camaro’s over the years I can say without a doubt this was my best purchase. The power, brakes and drivability for the money is mind boggling. The fuel mileage is...well expected for this amount of power. It’s nice driving a car that can’t be touched by 99% of what’s on the road around you. Yet- It’s docile enough that my wife drives it to work once a week without complaining about it. A lot of people ask me about the visibility when driving, I think like any car you drive you get used to it. I have a new m3 and when I jump in it after driving the Camaro for some time, the m3 feels like I’m sitting on top of the car. Get back into the Camaro and it feels like your in the bat mobile. You feel more connected or a part of the Camaro. I do agree with others about the paint, it is thin. Overall I love it-Go GM, you did a great job.

I am loving every minute of this car. I was really surprised it was a 4-cylinder, but with the turbo it still has amazing acceleration, and it is great on gas. The handling and ride is great. The car is very comfortable (and I am a big guy). I definitely recommend this vehicle. Whether you want to cruise the highways or just drive to work everyday.

Update-Have owned this care for 15 months now. Only average about 6K mi/yr since I work from home. Runs as good as new. The seat comfort is quite impressive. I'd say the stock cloth seats are more comfortable than many sedans. I drove my Mom's 2019 for 3 months while visiting and while it was comfortable, the seats in the Camaro were better cushioned. Gas mileage in mixed driving is not good 16-17 calculated by hand and I have a little bit of dash rattle/crinkle sound but drive with the windows down mostly so don't notice it much. Other than that, this car is a nasty animal that can be driven tamely and comfortably. It also sounds insane. I personally love the simple interior. Why Edmunds can't have the correct trim in the drop-down menu is pure laziness on their part. There is no choice for A10, only 6M. Got my '19 1SS for $33,090 before tax/lic due to dealer discounts and I had a Mustang GT so got a $2500 rebate with that as well. The performance of this car is incredible even if I paid $50K. The A10 shifts really quick and is super smooth and rarely ever hunts for gears. It's a blast with the paddles, manual shifting or just put in D and keep it S mode or T on the freeway if you want. Mine is all stock except for a Borla s-type catback. It sounds soooooo good without being overly loud or obnoxious. I think the car looks awesome too with the stock 20s and staggered tires. Full power seat, apple car-play standard are big pluses. Handling and power are on another level. Comfort is very good. Only negative is visiblity which is mostly a hindrance at low speeds around islands in parking lots b/c of the high door sills. Otherwise on the road, hardly ever an issue for me. Gas mileage of course isn't good but hwy can be almost 30 when just cruising in 4cyl mode. I average 17.5 overall. If you want a car that drives/performs well above its price point and sounds like complete beast doing it, look no further.

I bought this car in March 2018 and love every minute of driving it. Everything works great and quality control is well done. The concerns about vision are overblown. If you use the rearview mirror and side mirrors properly, sight is not a problem. The convertible top works great including the keyfob feature (which lets you lower top without being in car). The remote start feature is also a plus! This car is lots of fun to drive and it looks great. I feel it is a good value for the money and would buy it again after using it for 4 months! If you're thinking about buying one --- DO IT--You'll enjoy it and have a ton of fun!!! Edmunds asked me to update my review after owning this car for 9 months. I still feel a thrill every time I drive it, even with the top up for protection from New Jersey winters. It's a lot of fun and it looks super cool! Almost 2 years later it's still lots of fun to drive and has performed great. 4 years later I still love her and she performs great. Haven't had to do any maintenance other than oil changes and tire rotation.

It is a sports car. You definitely need the rear, side safety adder given the limited sight lines for the driver. It is low to the ground so getting in and out is tough for the senior crowd (me) but to drive it is to love it.

Out of all performance vehicles I've owned, including motorcycles. This vehicle has given me the most satisfaction, exhilaration and a grin that is hard to remove when done driving for the day. The only way I can describe how it rides is like driving a high end go kart with 650 hp and wide super sticky tires. The engine is the same as in the ZO6 Corvette (LT4 ) sounds awesome! Some say that for a daily driver get the regular ZL1 because the suspension gives you a smoother ride. I say if you want a smoother ride get a Cadillac. You buy a Camaro for the performance, and if you have the means to get into the ultimate Camaro ZL1 1LE buy it . We are living in the times that is like my Dad lived and enjoyed in the late 60s, only today we have more horsepower, superior handling and incredible technology. What a great time to be a car enthusiast.

Amazing car, embarrassing base engine

Just returned a brand new rental Camaro convertible after driving it for about 1,000 miles from and around San Francisco to and around LA. The car handles like a dream, feels solid and well built and its looks are stunning. Just one caveat, go for the 6 or even better the 8. The turbocharged 4 is, frankly, an embarrassment. While absolute power is just ok, there is turbo-lag and the mill sounds like a coffee grinder imitating a lawn mower. This otherwise extraordinary car deserves better.

If a consumer wanted an all around performance car that will put a smile on ones face every time it is driven........this is it! I own a 1SS with 6.2 V8 and auto trans.I special ordered the optional magnetic ride control and Recaro front bucket seats, performance exhaust and really believe that is all one needs to have the all around performance car for the price! This car will literally handle as if it were on a rail! It goes when told to and stops when you need it to on a dime.....I drove a comparable mustang and challenger and neither could compare to the camaro ss for all around performance, either in a straight line or around corners! The gas mileage can be very good on the highway if driven without the lead foot!

Stupid fast AND handles like a dream; hard to take the smile off of your face while you are driving it. Even better if you get the magnetic shocks and other optional bits. Very manageable blind spots, especially if you have the blind spot monitoring; don't listen to the people that haven't driven one. Good: Great looks, power (lots of it), handling, fun and nice creature comforts (especially 2SS) Bad: Some interior paneling is plasticky, worse on lower trims (though better than in years past) and no hanger hooks in back seat Need to know: You will draw looks in this thing, tall drivers (>6'3) may find roofline/view a bit challenging, virtually non-existent back seat, trunk space is good but opening on small side, sits low and doors are large, limited/weird storage spaces

As an owner of a ‘14 Challenger and ‘04 Monte Carlo SS, the Camaro in the 6th gen form is an exceptional value. Some folks will never get over a 4 cylinder turbo offering despite the fact it is 2020. Detractors will flail there hands in the air asking where’s the v8. I would not suggest a first time driver or a young driver with little experience buy a Camaro due to blind spots and overall lack of visibility. However, if you have driving experience the Camaro is fine. You adjust to the blind spots as you do in any car. I find zero issues driving it. So many reviews are negative on the bunker like interior. My gosh this is what makes it a stand out and NOT a me too car. If you want outward visibility and 95% views buy a Kia. Going back and forth between the Challenger and Camaro there is not mistaken the Camaro is the sports car. I love that GM offered the LTG engine I4 turbo in this Alpha platform. Coupled with the strong platform and lightweight of the I4 you have the makings of a great handling car. Want a bigger trunk? Buy a Challenger. The Camaro is the girl that gets invited to the Prom because she looks sexy as hell. As I was always a V8 or nothing enthusiast I am pleasantly surprised at how well the turbo engine Camaro performs. Take a look at the aftermarket offerings and these inline 4 cylinder boosted cars are quicker than you may think. Turbo threshold and lag, sure. It ok. And I haven't even talked about the less cost to insure. Btw if you drive nice you can get over 550 miles to a tank. I’m glad I don’t base my buying decisions on reviews entirely. Go test drive it. See for yourself.

I LOVE CAMARO! My 2012 camaro (5th gen) is perfect other then no nav and the rearview mirror wont go into position due to the convertable top. The 2018 though leaves much to improve on. The center glovebox is practically useless. The dash is to curved in less space in the 2018 to get in and out of the car mind you I'm only 5 foot 4 inches. This car is not for someone any taller. I'm in high Hope's of Chevy going back to the 5th gen Interior but also placing the seats that will lay back farther. The 5th gen and 6th gen stink with the position of the seating. Also forgot to mention I like the meaner face on the 2012 the 2018 has to have a larger face for airflow. Seems a little much on this car. Really miss my 1986.

Best car purchase decision I've ever made. Coming from mustang gt350 which was the most unreliable purchase I've ever made. My whole life the Ford quality has gone down hill and you don't get any creature comforts like in the Camaro. Visibility and trunk opening are the only down fall I've noticed in the Camaro but you get used to it all. The ZL1 has heated and vented/cooled seats, Bose audio, heated steering wheel, changeable ambient lighting, navigation and Etc. Etc. The quality fit finish of materials is light years past the mustang and the only compatible mustang is 100k plus. So bang for the buck is why I chose to purchase my first Chevrolet ever.

Buy it, drive it, love it. Best sports car for the money hands down. Performs better than cars costing twice as much and absolutely a joy to drive. As far as MPG goes, I did not but it for the gas mileage, but that is something you should conceder if that's important to you. Over all once again, great drivers car you can't go wrong.

Windshield & side windows fogging up

In humid and/or rainy weather conditions, my 2018 Chevy camaro 6cyl LT windshield & side windows fog up to the point where you are actually blind! I had the same issue with my 2016 Camaro which is why I traded it in. I have taken it in twice to be serviced with no fix! I have contacted GM & started a case file but so far no positive resolution. I’ve researched this problem on the internet & apparently it goes back as far as the 2015 Camaro from what I’ve read so far. You can read threads on Camaroid6 & There are also videos on YouTube that illustrate the problem. This is a definite safety issue!

This car is amazing. Way faster and more powerful than expected... And (reluctantly admit) needed, lol! 6'0", 300lbs...so not the easiest to get in and out of. But what pony car is easy? But once in, you are wrapped in a big comfy hug. The car has great extras included. The guages are great, with many options. The engine and tranny... Well, you will wet your pants when you hit the gas if you are not careful. All of that and I still average 21.8mpg! I can go on and on... But to put it simply, I love this car and highly recommend it!

I bought a 2019 Chevy Camaro convertible my dream car( took me 50 years)and I am so disgusted with the quality of this car. Chevrolet is a disgrace to American made. This car is straight from wish app. Cheapest products went into making this car. Taking my daughter to school it was 35* so I had the defroster on high, heard a pop the windshield cracked from side to side, back glass is ungluing from top, thread on seats is dry rotted, light says hood is open, carpet is spliced under seats, door hinge is cracked, remote start never worked, and many more issues. 828$ charge yesterday to change a thermostat and 278$ for a diagnostic test to tell me none of it is factory defects! Now have 10k repair estimate. So buy a new car and 3 years later u have 10k in repairs! No thank you Chevrolet! Chevrolet and China sound better together!!😡😡😡😡😡😡

You won't get your whole stick figure family in it. If your buying for the 2+ "2" , you might as well but a vette. That said, it was a compromise with my wife. The vette didn't have a back seat and cost $20k more. Always wanted a legit sports car. The likes of a Ferrari or minimum a top line vette. The Camaro didn't disappoint. Having driven a MPC12C and a 458 Italia, this thing performs in the same category. Does all the same things, but in a different, American, loud way. Maybe doesn't turn as many heads, but I do not feel I'm depreciating value by actually driving it. There's reasons the aforementioned cars are usually low miles. Maintenance is not Chevy prices. I will say the visibility is an issue at first, but you get used to it. I can get 2 golf bags in the trunk, and I'm always DD to the course because I get to drive the ZL1. When you combine all this, it should cost double. It's scary fast, super drivable. it takes restraint or to drive 140+ everywhere. There's days that I'm actually excited for a commute. It won't suite everyone for a daily driver, especially if your in the snow belt. That is why I also have a truck. But the truck takes second place every time weather permits. Even if I have to cram the teenager in the back. Besides sex appeal, I'd out this car against any Italian coating 3X+. If we could do a blind "taste" test drive, USA wins!

I have owned mustangs, motorcycles, momentum cars (FRS), and a C7 Corvette (Grand Sport) and this car is by far the best of all those. It has more power than any of them, sounds better, handles better, and is a way better daily driver than any of them. Near super car performance is not an exaggeration as the capabilities of this car are well beyond most drivers. Looks are subjective but I get lots of compliments, and perhaps even better is that car people know what it is while non car folks dismiss it as just a Camaro which makes it kind of a sleeper. I love the front end of the car which is menacing but understated. I have done several hundred miles at once in it and it is very comfortable but just change the driving mode and it becomes a stiff well handling corner carver that is as good or better than much smaller momentum cars. My mustangs (last was a modded GT, PP1) always felt like it was going to go out of control (mods helped a little) when pushed but the Camaro handles just exactly like my Corvette - very stable and predictable. The Corvette was great but the lower ride height had it scraping on everything and there was a lot less room inside - I am 6’3 220 lbs. I find the Recaros more comfortable that the Corvette seats, especially on long trips. The visibility out of the ZL1 is about the same as it was out of the Corvette - it’s not great but you get used to it and it is not a factor once you adjust to it. There is hardly any storage but the truck is big enough. The motor is beyond comparison - if you baby it on a trip you can get 29mpg average but if you buy your foot in it at all that number drops considerably. The power is very predictable and linear throughout the rev range with no big hits but just face flattening acceleration. It feels a lot like the LT1 just with more power everywhere. The car is sensitive to tire changes - I have PS4 on it now for better mileage but will likely go back to a stickler tire when these are done as the current will spin easily under power and feels a little less planted with these tires. I have to 10 speed auto and I it is outstanding - always in the right gear or you can do it yourself with very quick shifts. It is on par with a dual clutch. This car is so underrated - it easily has performance on par with cars costing twice as much while also being roomy and comfortable when desired. This is the best all around performance car out there today.

First Camaro, new experience, but all the draw backs of a sports car have been put aside especially the trunk, it is strictly my summer car for typically sunny day driving and lots of fun. If my 84 year old mother enjoys it, everyone should! I throw her walker in back seat and despite having to lower and raise top to remove it from car each is still a lot of fun! My car is a V6 model and has some output especially on highway No V6 selection offered under model type!

Purchased a low mileage 2018 Camaro in garnet red. Basic interior, very dark inside. The 4 cylinder turbo is peppy in higher RPM's. Ride is harsh. Sits very low to the ground, as does the driver. Love the entertainment system with android auto. I get a lot of thumbs up when I'm driving. AC and HVAC work well. No heated seats, but cabin warms up quickly. Traded in a mint lifted Nissan frontier but had a good dealer, and got a good price. Enjoying the car so far.

I rented a convertible with the turbocharged 4. Drove and handled nice. Had all the power you asked it for. Very quick and speedy. It's like driving a batmobile. Not a large windshield, a slit for a back window, not good visibility on the sides. You have to be on guard when changing lanes. Nice too look at. You can only use the back seat if you are legless.

I truly continue to love my Camaro. The performance and handling is terrific. . It is just a beautiful car. I really appreciate the differences in it depending on the mode selected. The engine also sounds great, particularly after I have added a new catback exhaust. It is a classic American muscle car but now handles as a performance sports car. I'm planning on headers when the warranty runs out. After 3 years, I'm still in love with this car.

14 months update-1SS A10

Have had my 1SS a little over a year now. Not my daily driver so only 6000 miles. Haven't had a single issue. My only complaint is the touch screen with Apple Car play is a little laggy at times especially with Amazon Music. Minor nitpick. Visibility is practically a non-issue as I'm so used to the car now and rear view mirror is actually quite good. All you really notice is the performance and this thing is truly a beast. I couldn't imagine ponying up the extra $$$ for a ZL-1. The SS alone has more power on the street than you can really use. Love the the car. The A10 is seriously impressive on how fast and smooth it shifts. Best bang for the buck out there if you don't need much of a back seat.

Had an 18 got rid of it and realized how much I liked it so bought a 19. Only disappointment is GM locked the tuner guys out. Added a plug /Play tuner to the 18 with a cold air box and really made a great difference. Great car but visibility is bad.

PROS: Handling; Styling; Performance; Gas mileage; Comfort; Build Quality. CONS: Handling (Summer Only Tires); Gas Mileage; Cruise Control; Blind Spots; Comfort; Trunk Size. Desired Enhancements: Better rear end grip (wider tires/rear; Better Sight Lines; A little more trunk space. RATINGS (based on 5-star system): Comfort: 3;Interior: 3;Performance: 5;Quality: 4;Reliability: 5;Safety: 4;Styling: 5;Technology: 4;Value: 4. General Overview This is the ‘Initial Review’ of this vehicle. I purchased it via the manufacturers Certified Previously Owned (CPO) program from a local Chevrolet Dealership. I traded my 2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost for it. You can see my reviews of that vehicle elsewhere on Edmund’s and Kelly Blue Book (KBB) websites. There was “NOTHING” wrong with the Mustang, I just wanted a change and wanted to experience that V8 power and sound one more time (I previously owned a 1972 Dodge Challenger R/T and 1970 Oldsmobile 442). With this purchase I’ve been blessed to own and survive a version of each “Muscle Car!” Although the vehicle was not in the color I wanted, it did have “ALL” the features I wanted, and at a reduced rate. It even came with a two-year manufacturer’s full warranty and maintenance. I’ve admired this version of the Camaro since it appeared in the Transformer movie, and considered purchasing it before I purchased the 2016 Mustang. I’m glad I waited as the updated 2017 model looks a little more mature and cohesive. I really like the vehicle lines, 4-tip exhaust outlets and rims. As many have documented, the outward visibility is challenging, but bearable. Personally, I only find the rear visibility more challenging than that of the Mustang. The front and side visibility are equivalent, however I find I don’t have to adjust my side-view mirrors as much as I did in the Mustang. For some reason I could not find a setting for the Mustang mirrors that ‘always’ suited me. This included the rearview mirror. I don’t know what the issue was with the side-view mirrors, but the issue with the rearview mirror may have had something to do with it always vibrating, something the Camaro’ does not do. The driving feel of the Camaro is the best I’ve experienced, ever. I’ll say more when I explain my ratings, but I’ll just say it’s quick! The Mustang was fast, but the power delivery from the Camaro is instantaneous and forceful. Yea, I know it’s kind of comparing apples to oranges, but the EcoBoost Mustang is pretty fast and handles well. Explaining the Ratings In rating this vehicle I’m comparing it directly with the EcoBoost Mustang and loosely with the 1972 Challenger and 1970 Cutlass 442. I’ll say right off the bat the older vehicles don’t hold a candle to the new muscle, but they defined the segment. They were fast for their day but did not have the handling and braking of today’s muscle cars. OK, it’s a muscle car and not expected to be overly comfortable. However, when I compare its comfort against that of the Mustang, I give it one less star. The Camaro seats don’t fit me as well as did the Mustangs, its interior is not sorted as well, and it’s a little more ‘plastically’ than the Mustang, however it rides better. The better ride is more than likely due to the Magnetic Ride Control suspension in the Camaro. The Camaro handles the rough sections of road near my residence with much more aplomb than did the Mustang. Where the Mustang was a little jarring over these sections, the Camaro smoothed them out, at least when it Touring Mode. The glove compartment and center console of the Camaro are not as deep or as well designed as that of the Mustang, therefore they’re not as useful. Compared to the older vehicles, neither vehicle has much storage space. The Camaro has a tighter interior than the Mustang. With my 6’ 1” frame, neither vehicle offers seating behind the driver’s seat, but the space behind the passenger seat in the Camaro is also tight. While I can still transport two other passengers, the rear seat occupant may not be my friend after the journey! The Camaro’ windows, especially the rear glass, are harder to clean than those in the Mustang. It can be really frustrating cleaning the lower section of the rear glass where it meets the rear shelf. Ouch! PRO/CON Insights: I’m always receiving “positive” complements about this vehicle, especially how the rims set it off. It however does not receive comments like I received about the Mustang. The performance is good and surpassed my expectations. I’ve not personally tested/verified the performance numbers, but there are plenty of automotive review experts (and some amateurs) who have, and I’m satisfied my vehicle’ performance falls within their perimeter’s, or at least it feels so too me. This is a comfortable traveling vehicle for 2-adults and their luggage. If the small trunk does not have enough space, you can drop the rear seatbacks to expand the luggage space. This should provide more than enough luggage capacity for two.

Honestly I have not ever been in such an uncomfortable seat. NO lumbar support! It runs, that's why it did not get a 1 star review. But the ride is rough, the seats MURDER. I was appreciating the sardine can plane seats after a week in this car. I will NEVER buy another Camaro. My back HURTS and I am only 5'7" this car was WAY too small for me. Just go buy an infinity, or Nissan, they at least offer lumbar support and the ride is smoother, also they handle better.
