A great car but BMW has removed features

This is my fifth X5. On this 2022 model BMW is skimping on details to wit: the removal of the fog lamps (Where I live these are essential), remove the off switch for that annoying engine off at lights (it won’t turn off in Sports mode), removed the electric rear power close on the lower tailgate, The removal of the metal luggage protective bands on the floor of the trunk. Further it took two months to get my car, a car I didn’t specifically want but the electric version would not have been available until October or later 2022. The ultimate driving machine is becoming a disappointment. Instead of under promising and over delivering, BMW is losing its panache through skimping.

5 Stars in every respect except……

The X5 is by far one of the best SUVs in its class. Comfortable and quiet ride, great acceleration and quality throughout. Only complaint is that door sills, not inside, get wet from wet roads leaving them dirty and have to be constantly wiped down. 5 stars in every respect but giving 4 stars because I can not seem to get recommended oil changes when needed under their pre paid maintenance program. Dealer and other experts recommend oil changes at 10,000 mile intervals but because the vehicle computer stated an interval of 14,000 the dealer would not change the oil at the recommended interval. The computer modifies the interval subject to driving conditions and eventually dropped to an 11,500 mile interval but still over the 10,000 mile interval. Despite numerous attempts over two months to get a satisfactory answer I still do not have one. The icing on the cake was an email I received today from BMW stating the importance of oil changes at 10,000 or one year to improve performance and engine life and still at just over 10,000 miles since the last oil change the dealer and customer service says I do not need an oil change.

Due to medical reasons I had to purchase a suv so I can get in and out of. I drove everything in it's class and this was the hands down winner. Luxury and power, the best HUD. Unfortunately the car did not come with the wireless charging it was not available. The standard stereo is not great, I would suggest an upgrade. All around it is perfect for me. 6'4" 290lbs

Fun car but mild hybrid is a drag

The car itself is wonderfully designed, panoramic room, accent lighting that will let you pretend you’re in your own personal limo, etc. However, the mild hybrid system was a a bit of a bummer. Disclaimer, I went on a BMW driving experience years ago, where they challenged us to push the cars to their limit. So naturally I wanted to see what this had baby could do in corners. Unfortunately even in sport mode the moment you tap the brake going into a intersection it can’t transition the engine to accelerate into the turn. Instead the car kind of feels like it’s stalling a bit mid way into the turn. It was a bit of a bummer but you know I guess we have to save every drop of gas possible. The car just isn’t as ultimate as it used to be.

The BMW X5 is awesome. After 21,000 miles it has done nothing but impress us. It gets 28 mpg combined driving and slightly over 30 mpg on the highway as long as you keep it at or under 75 mph. The vehicle is as quick as many performance coupes hitting 60 mph in less than 5 seconds and it handles like a good sports coupe. The ride is comfortable and so far we have had nothing but a great experience with our X5. We never thought that we would ever enjoy it as much as we do. Great job BMW!

No response to the gas pedal! Can’t trust car!

Overall, it’s a nice car, BUT, my 2022 X5 M40i, with 23,000 miles on it, NEVER wrecked, kept in garage, has a mind if its own. Driving 55mph without cruise control, sometimes stops responding to gas pedal—at all! Nope. It will slow down to exactly 46 mph, and that’s it. Frantic gas pedal use is disregarded for several minutes. Gas pedal goes all the way to the floorboard, multiple times. No response. Suddenly, the car leaps forward, engine reverse up and screaming like a race car! Fortunately, the brakes worked fine, but this repeated itself for an hour-long drive. Arrived at destination. Turned Car off. Few hours later, took car to dealer. No problem, car was fine, except once. Headed to dealer to check car. I started to change lanes, I first put on turn signal, but when I asked for a lane change, the car resisted me and I had to use a fair amount of muscle to force the lane change! What it I had needed to urgently change lanes? Dealer found nothing. Now, I don’t trust the car.
