The best SUV
Coming from a Tesla, I thought I was “settling” for a hybrid, as I am averse to pumping gas. I have been pleasantly impressed with every aspect of this vehicle. The main reason for five stars: I purchased this car and drove it home from another state last Thursday going 75 the whole way. I arrived home with a half tank (but averaged 32 mpg.. not bad for a 2200 kg beast) The EV mode is better than I imagined it to be and one charge is more than adequate to get me back and forth to work and do any grocery shopping without using a DROP of gas. From the adjustable hydraulic ride height to the massaging seats.. the build quality is near perfection. Oh, and after all the driving, including a 0-60 @4.8 second launch, I still have 144 miles fuel remaining. Par excellence! Bravo BMW!

Love running on NO GAS!!
I'm in my honeymoon period with the X5 4.5e but we've already driven it 1800 miles! Luxury Seating Pkg is fabulous and I never imagined how great it would be to have massaging seats!! It made our 1400 Mile drive so easy! We rarely even felt fatigued! And having 37 miles of "free driving" every morning with the batteries feels like I'm cheating! My first tank of gas (after getting home) got 44 mpg! My husband has a Tesla but I prefer the flexibility of this HYBRID. Since we already had his wall charger, we bought a simple converter piece (Lectron-Tesla to J1722) so we can both use his wall charger-no electrician needed! Loving the park assist 360° cameras too.

Great PHEV
For the first four months of owning this car, I primarily commuted to work 5 miles each way with only a few highway trips and got approximately 150 mpg. In four months, I used 2/3 of the tank. I finally got worried about the gas going stale and purposefully used the ICE. The switch to the ICE is seamless and power and handling IMO are faultless. It doesn't drive like a heavy SUV. My only complaint is the loss of cargo space from the battery pack. Interior is comfortable for a family of four and a dog. Love this car and highly recommend.

NOT the Ultimate Driving Machine
First time BMW owner. Owned the car for 8 months, but just sold it. For the price point of the vehicle, the interior materials feel cheap. The Sensatrac interior felt more like vinyl instead of imitation leather. It was hot even with the A/C on. After several months a creaking/tapping sound was prevalent when driving. Dealer fixed it by lubricating door seals, the fix did not last long. Android Auto would constantly drop off, so you need to disconnect and reconnect the phone. Dealer said that it was a common issue with no fix. Road noise is terrible inside the vehicle, unlike other luxury cars I have ridden in. The air suspension would not stay on the level the driver sets it on. Vehicle has a noticeable sound when it transfers from Electrical to Hybrid mode. Now the positive, it is a fun car to drive under Sport mode and I was able to get approximately 650-825 miles per tank when using electric and Hybrid mode. Sport mode, expect to fill up the gas tak at around 350 miles.
