Great X3
Well built car. Fun to drive. Very quite interior, very little road noise. Peppy acceleration with good handling.

It's great but.........
I took delivery of my special ordered 2019 x3 40i this past April and now have about 3500 miles on the clock. While I have not had any problems at all there are some things that need to be said. The sport exhaust needs to go. I'm not a 20 something trying to impress my friends by being loud and obnoxious. Sport brakes bring a big break dust problem and that's not very sporty. Head up display is something I could easily do without and resent having to pay for it. The final insult is the giant hole above me called a panoramic sunroof. This monstrosity is just waiting to rattle or leak some time in the future. Now be aware that most of my complaints are because these items are part of the "package" that you must buy in order to get the m40i motor. On the upside this car runs and drives so beautifully I try to ignore my gripes and 21.4 mpg around town is very good given the available power.

I have both the S30i (wife drives) and M40i (mine)
The normal engine gets you nice power, and it is fuel efficient and quiet. My wife has the "luxury line" with all the options and she loves it. As for me, the M40i is exactly what it is supposed to be- an urban bully in sheeps clothing. I have the 21 inch rims, and if you love to drive, this is a great vehicle. Yes, road noise, road feel, etc- bring it on, I love that- and the engine is just bliss. The thing is all the rocket you need. No need for the M in the X3, the M40 is plenty. UPDATE: After 2.5 years, we are buying BOTH out of the leases. Best BMW's we've ever had. Period.

There’s a Tiger in my Garage (BMW X3 M 40i)
I still get excited to drive this Beautiful Tiger. He’s a Gorgeous animal to look at….Wow….turn it on….crack, pop, back it out of the garage, and it’s purring….just waiting and ready to go….then Wow!…what an amazing experience to drive this beast. I loved it the minute I test drove it, and I still love it exactly the same today. I take it around town mostly….take grandkids places….yes, this old granny loves a great car…short trips…..this car is great…but the ride is not a comfort luxury feel for long trips, but it sure is fun for what I need. So far it’s needed an electronic reset and a new battery. I’m hoping for a few more fun years in this Tiger! UPDATE: I will have it a year this month. I still love it. The service light came in last month. Needed a adjustment in a “flap” and the windshield wipers replaced….still runs great…gas mileage is good…perfect car for me. My hubby loves driving it…
