2025 BMW 5 Series Consumer Reviews

Outstanding Midsize Luxury Car!
I love everything about the new 5 series. Great styling, ride and handling, very comfortable and leading technology all with exceptional gas mileage and superior luxury. I used to think no one could beat Mercedes for their luxurious interior cabins, but I believe this BMW does. I drove the 2024 A6, E-Class and 5 Series and this car was the clear winner!

great sedan that covers (almost) all bases
I purchased a new 2024 530i with the premium package, the driver assistant pro package and the 20" wheel package. I opted for the standard trim versus the M-sport trim simply because the standard trim looks much nicer in my opinion. There's plenty of room inside, a very large trunk, lots of great tech and has more than enough power. I have to say my only dislike in the interior is the lack of regular buttons for the climate control. One drawback is the price as well. With all of the options I chose the price came to over 66k, so it's not a cheap car by any stretch.

Wow, BMW really did hit it out of the park
The Edmunds review is accurate: the 540 is truly a next-gen luxury tourer with the power, ride and performance of more expensive exotics. The tech is excellent and it understands driver commands made in regular language. It does not need exactly worded commands like other brands. The self-drive is remarkable and really helps on longer road trips. There are very few buttons. Virtually everything can be done by voice command which is quick to respond. Well done BMW!
A superior vehicle
Eight months in and I am very pleased with my 540i, which I chose over the 530 simply because of the extra 125 hp. I wanted that additional power to move this mid-sized sedan and it does! Acceleration is excellent and I have been consistently posting between 32 and 35 mpg in a combination of city and highway driving. I place a premium on comfort (and wonder why so many companies have such heavily bolstered seats), so did choose the seating package and have very pleased. The car is very comfortable even on short rides. I have to agree with the other comments about the lack of buttons and the need to change almost everything through the screen (which is gorgeous). The learning curve has been relatively steep and I am still finding out things that the car can do. The price was fair - especially when compared with the competition from Mercedes and Audi; both of which I passed on for the BMW (my first). I ended up ordering from the dealership as there were seemingly no 540's in stock anywhere. It was a 4 month wait, but well worth it.

Rewarding
Coming from Mercedes E Class, I find my 530i just more fun to drive. Reasonable power and surprisingly good fuel economy in a car add to its appeal.

I Love It
I had a 2022 Mercedes C Class and Traded it in for a 2024 BMW530I. Loner car with 8400 miles. I love the car. It puts the Mercedes to shame. Granted the 5 competes with the E class. The ride is smoother, Quieter and more comfortable. The car is rated at 30 miles per gallon. I put it in Efficient Mode and i'm getting 32.5 miles a gallon which is amazing for a car this size. It helped in my decision to purchase based on consumer reports rating BMW 2nd for quality where as Mercedes came in 23rd. I did have electronic issues with the Mercedes which are well known.

Why is BMW dumbing down 5 series
The 2020 5 series could be had with rear wheel steering, adaptive suspension, massaging seats, articulating seats and front seat map pockets on their backs as well as M sport brakes without the M package. The 2025 has none of these available. Further the touch screen for most functions instead of buttons is far more distracting for the driver. BMW used to add more features each successive model making them familar while also more desirable. Apparently cost savings is now the rule which is quite disappointing. Do better in the future BMW.
