Feels (Almost) Like of BMWs of Years Past
This is my 3rd BMW; I had 2007 E90 generation and a 2015 F30 generation car. The 2007 was an amazing car with excellent handling and power; there was a reason it was ranked as one of the best luxury cars by Edmunds and other rankings back in those days. 2015 was a huge disappointment, with a lethargic turbo engine, imprecise and light steering, and a bouncy suspension that felt more like a Lexus ES. Fortunately, the 2019 G20 BMW 3 series feels a lot more like my old 2007 than the 2015. The standard suspension feels taut, but not too firm. The 330i's engine is more refined, even though it's still a turbo 4-cylinder. The power delivery feels more consistent with no perceivable lag, just like a non-turbo 6-cylinder engine of decades past. The steering is still a bit too light for my taste, but is definitely more precise and transmits decent road feel. Also, the car does feel bigger than my old 2007 and perhaps not as "tossable" in curves. But for a bigger car, it's still a competent sports sedan. I personally disagree with Edmunds' review when it comes to iDrive. I feel iDrive is a huge improvement in the 2019, with your choice of both touchscreen or knob interfaces. The larger touchscreen is very handy when used with Apple CarPlay, while the knob can also come in handy to zoom a map while driving. The digital gauges does take a bit getting used to, and I do hope BMW will implement an ability to change the gauge design from the odd shape it is now to more traditional circular gauges. The driving aid tools are ok, but they can be a bit intrusive. Lane keep assist is the one thing I found extremely annoying and ended up turning off, especially as I drive a lot on roads that are under construction and have temporary shifted lane markings which confused the system. Finally, I love the interior design, quality and materials of the 2019. Absolutely improved over the past BMWs and makes the car feel luxurious now and worth the price point.

'19 330 a vast improvement over '16 328
Didn't expect the new generation to be this much better than the previous. Everything from perceived power to the interior options has improved. The new iDrive is definitely more complicated than before but it's a touch screen now. Wireless Apple Carplay is great but it's flaky and will randomly disconnect. The HUD is great. Rims are way more low profile than before and overall, I think the car looks sharper. Mediterranean blue is an awesome color... looks black at night and blue during the day. I'm enjoying this leased car way more than I expected.

Money well spent!
The 2019 is far superior in every way to the outgoing model. Hands down the best car I have ever driven and a perfect balance between comfort and sport. You even get 34 highway and still have plenty of torque. Only have had the car for a week...I will update if needed, but I doubt I will need to. Get one!

No longer a sport sedan
I recently traded in a 2010 328i for a 2019 330xi with the M package. The new car is more than sufficiently powerful, the steering is precise, the trunk is usefully larger, and it seems very well made. Also, the new tech has some real advantages. That said, in comparison with the old car, it is lumbering rather than agile..the suspension is less supple, I miss the manual transmission, and the sweet sound of the non-turbo six cylinders. Another issue is the sport seats, which I find constrict my legs so as to excite my sciatica. In short I think that if BMW produced the old cars with some added electronics, they would sell like hotcakes...

Amazing
I love this car. It looks amazing with the 19” rims. There is a learning curve due to all the tech, but it is fantastic.

The BMW M340 is an excellent car
I drove a new 2019 BMW M340 for a couple of days. It is an amazing car. It has very strong acceleration and it handles well. The interior is relatively quiet and it gets excellent fuel economy on the highway. Over the course of 350 mainly highway miles, at an average speed of about 75MPH the car returned 37MPG. One thing I did not like was the lane keeping technology. If the car drifts towards the outside of a lane the car is nudged back into the lane, which is fine. However, if you signal a lane change the nannies do not kick in. I did try to change lanes without signaling and the car reacted in a disconcerting manner. I was able to override the lane keeping software, but not before the car strongly tried to keep the car in my lane. In fact, the car actually felt “sloppy” and disconcerting when I forced the lane change without signaling. This could be problematic in a panic lane change situation. My verdict is that it is a great car. And, as long as you always signal a lane change you’ll be fine with the lane keeping technology.

Good initial impressions after 4K miles
If you want to because it’s the sport sedan benchmark, it will deliver. However, the tech integration and active driving aids are impressive. For inputs to the infotainment, you can use voice, customizable buttons, steering wheel buttons and gesture control, which works well once you get good at performing gestures recognized by the system. You can use two fingers to point to the screen and customize that gesture for various functions. Similarly, you can open and close your hand twice and program it to set the nav to “home”. You can make a thumbs up sign but sideways with your thumb to the right to forward music to the next screen. You can do the same via steering wheel controls and view the music in the heads up display. The infotainment has a dizzying array of menus, and although they don’t appear intuitive, there is good logic and it becomes easier after a few days of use. The voice control works very well, but it’s quicker and easier to use programmable memory buttons for quick access to things you use most often. Or, even the gestures are faster than a short conversation with the virtual assistant. I named mine spongebob and it responds politely when I say “hey spongebob”. I don’t even have to wait to listen to its response to my request for attention. I can just overtalk and speak my request. Pretty spectacular so far

One of my happiest car purchases.
After owning a 3 series convertible and a 4 series convertible over a 12 year period it was time for a change and a lower monthly payment. I purchased my 2019 330i from a local dealer who had it as part of their loaner fleet with approximately 3500 miles on it. I have a few friends who did the same over the years and all were happy with their purchases. I still wanted a car that was sporty but also wanted a more comfortable ride than my prior convertibles. The 330i is the perfect blend of just enough sportiness without the bone jarring ride of my previous cars. My loaner special came fairly loaded, with standard 18 inch wheels, without any upgraded sport suspension but with the non-run flat tire option. Extremely happy to have the non-run flat tires as run flats can at times be very hard. I've now had the car for 18 months and still turn around in the parking lot after I park it. Very satisfied BMW customer.

Excellent performance and fuel economy
The 2019 BMW 3 Series has a powerful yet efficient twin-turbo engine that allows it to perform well while still achieving over 40 MPG on the freeway in ECO PRO mode. iDrive, the infotainment system, works reliably and is feature rich without being overly complicated. The build quality is excellent and high quality, premium materials like wood and aluminum are used throughout the vehicle.

Best 3 series
Trade in Lexus 2018 for this vehicle. Test drove Lexus 2019 (numb steering), Mercedes C class (feels like 160 Hp when accelerating), Audi A4 (Besides good interior lacks acceleration, numb sterring)...

BMW driver
I work at the US BMW auto mfg plant. We have a lease program, we get to drive many different models. That being said, I currently have the 2019 330xi. And I do not particularly care for the new design, the body style is sportier and not bad, the interior is to be desired. My biggest complaint is the removal of the temperature knobs, to the +\- buttons, the weird gauges, and smaller trunk access. The steering assistance is extremely annoying, so I deactivated it. The only new tech feature I like is the programmable climate control and automatic start. I previously had the 2017 330 and it was much better model than this. I prefer the the 5 and 6 series more. You definitely get what you pay for, they are far more superior cars, in every aspect, and very fun to drive. The 3 series is descent for the price, but not a true enjoyable bmw to drive.

INSTANT FAILURE
On my first drive after taking delivery on this 330i sedan, it veered into opposing traffic and the steering wheel froze. Two stays at the local BMW service center didn't solve the problem. This vehicle is too dangerous to drive so I returned it to the dealer!

Complete garbage
I’ve owned many BMWs over the years. I would not buy one of these new 3 series because it is that bad. I only had it for a loaner car. The style makes it look like a Japanese car. The seats are horrible, the interior materials all feel cheap and look bad. Rough ride, and very cramped inside. Plus now this “German” sports sedan is made in Mexico. No thanks! I’ll keep my utterly superb Audi A4.
