Used 2005 Acura TL Consumer Reviews
This is Acura quality???
I did a lot of research before buying my TL. Every car I looked at had *something* wrong with it, so it's hard to get a good picture of reliability from the forums. Acura has a great reputation though. I decided to pony up $6K more than I had intended to spend to ensure I would not have buyer's remorse. Nine days after the purchase I totally regret buying this car. The lack of quality is a joke. A very bad joke. I'm ready to eat $1000 if the dealer will buy the car back from me. My previous two cars - a '92 GMC Sonoma and '00 Mustang GT - didn't have ONE problem in the first year, let alone 3-4 in the first 9 days like this TL. :(
Acura TL -The Best Value On The Road
Terrific performance for the money - this is the best value car on the road today. Navigation system knocks spots off the one in our 2001 BMW 540i and the Acura is 100% more reliable than its garage mate. Acura could improve the turn radius and make the steering wheel telescope but otherwise they've thought of everything. The Bridgestone performance tires were a big disappointment and wore out after 12,000 miles - with no hot-rodding to hasten their demise. We replaced them with Pirellis and are much happier. This is my 3rd Acura (1995 Legend, 2000 TL) and I love the brand. The availability of a manual transmission in the 2004 TL was a key selling point for this family.
best sports sedan value bar none
You have to spend 10 Gs more to get materially more car. The front has an appealing sneer with some attitude, there's enough interior bling and tech but not to excess, really planted handling, plenty of rev-happy power. It's a fine, quiet highway cruiser too. Average adults have decent rear legroom but if you travel with 4 aboard pack lightly--smallish trunk. I expect great reliability and resale. My previous was an '02 TL Type-S. It was so good for both that this is the first time I've ever bought the same car twice. However the '05 shares only the terrific powertrain and TL name with the '02. Otherwise it's so different that to all intents it's a wholly different car.
I love this car!!!
After about a year the only matinence on the car is oil changes and with a little disappointment tires. It seems the bridgestones that they use on the Navigation cars use a softer compound that wears faster though they do handle incrediblely well. Be it snow or rain the car sticks. With the tires wearing there has only been a slight loss in traction. The performance is top notch and the car is loads of fun to drive. Great for that long road trip too.
Acura TL
I've had this car for two months and so far it is wonderful. Fun to drive, comfortable and reasonably economical. My only complaints at this time are somewhat more road noise than I expected, and a wider turning radius than anticipated.
