Fantastic Car with two gripes

Replaced our 2016 Fully Loaded advanced with a 2024 Aspec advanced. Night and day different ride quality and sound isolation. 2022 really changed this vehicle. It’s the quietest and smoothest Honda product we have ever owned. It’s about time!! Our first 5 hour freeway trip from Seattle to Spokane and it said 26mpg when we arrived at home. Better than I thought it would do for sure at those higher speeds. Quieter in the back of the car compared to a Lexus NX. Less wind noise coming from the rear than a new NX. Bigger than a NX. The materials inside are better than a new NX. Pano roof bigger and not near as ugly tinted as the NX. Yes it’s not the Lexus nX hybrid engine we originally wanted but the driving experience and other things is what won us over. Plus you can still order a spare tire and mount it underneath. TWO BIG GRIPES. I’m 6’1” and 185lbs. And typical Honda/acura fashion is the flipping steering wheel does not tilt down enough. What is your deal Acura, cmon. Nobody would ever tilt it the height it can go but both my wife and I wish it would tilt lower. And for Pete’s sake it’s 2024 so make it power. It’s a luxury car in 2024. SECOND is the screen. The touchpad is fine BUT that screen should have never existed in this luxury vehicle even back in 2019. My 2018 Lexus has a better quality screen. This screen is so 2015 Honda CRV like. At a bare minimum it should Have been made better in 2022. Everyone is focused on the touchscreen but that’s not its problem. It’s the size and the quality! 2025 will change that. We really wanted to wait and see what 2025 was going to bring BUT we found an incredible deal on a 2024 with 685 miles so impossible to pass up. Racing red one with black interior. UPDATE: Let’s start with the big negatives so maybe Honda will listen for once. The software in regards to the infotainment screen is god awful. Everyone focuses on it not being a touchscreen and that is NOT the issue. It’s the software. This car has been out since 2019 and it feels like it’s software and screen is from 2016. My 2018 Lexus is so much smarter! The little screen on the right side is the most annoying thing ever in a vehicle. It constantly defaults to NAV. Who cares about NAV for 98% of your driving. Any phone call, any voice text or command and it defaults back to NAV. Leave it be the CLOCK! Or let it save to what the driver wants. Backup camera is hideous as well. And what is the deal with the steering wheel tilt ability. Why is it so high? I can’t imagine any person ever wanting to raise it. I want it lower, my shorter wife wants it lower. Cmon Acura. Positives. It’s the quietest Honda product we have ever owned by far. Smoothest as well but we have an Aspec advanced model with active dampers. 2022 change for advanced models was an amazing update and they should have updated the tech in it at that time. Comfortable, fun to drive although we prefer the older V6 engine. More refined and not as loud under harder acceleration. The car drives 80% freeway speeds averaging 70mph. Computer stays a consistent 24.8-25mpg. Sucks but is what it is, you know it buying it. The auto start stop is dumb. As we know it saves nothing. Great car BUT awful software for the display. So depends what’s important for you. It drives me more nuts than my wife and it’s her car.

This is my 4th Acura and my second RDX. The reason why I keep coming back to Acura is their SH-AWD and reliability. No other SUV in this class comes close to the handling characteristics and stability of this SUV, save for Audi which is also AWD. Acura's ride is smooth and comfortable. Steering is precise and nimble. This is a car I just enjoy driving. I see a lot of fuss about the infotainment system and the touch pad. In my opinion, Acura's engineers are clever enough to realize that touch screens are distracting and don't provide tactile feedback. You can't develop muscle memory with touch screens. You have to look and aim your fingers to navigate the system and select things. This is distracting and not safe. So thank you Acura for keeping it traditional. Please NEVER EVER do touch screens. Another thank you to Acura for keeping traditional: The gauges cluster. I see almost all new cars are replacing the speedometer and engine revs with digital screens. Are you kidding me? Another issue some people might have commented on is road noise; OEM tires on this car are not the best. Replace them with Hankook DynaPro series and you will feel/hear the difference, no more rolling noise. Sound system is pure joy, I feel bad that they don't include CD Players anymore. I love the fact that they moved the spare tire below the car, freeing up more hidden space in the trunk. Good Job Acura. Remember, don't do touch screens for future models.

Excellent handling, fun to drive, comfortable, great sound system, plenty of pickup and more interior room than I thought! Love the Canyon River Blue with light gray leather. Added all weather mats, full rear cargo protection upgrade and fog lights. Like the RDX better than my last MDX.

Great upgrade from 2017 MDX Advance to 2025 RDX A-Spec Advance. Time to downsize with kids out of house but not give up Advance features. RDX is fun to drive and has a spirited engine; especially 3rd and 4th shift transitions off the line. Awesome stereo. AcuraLink reliable as always. Ambient lighting options are fun. SH-AWD…jump on the gas accelerating out of a corner and you know it’s just different and fun. Urban (Shark) grey with black trim is sharp

I’m a 60 year-old car fanatic. In 45 years of driving I have owned close to two dozen different cars. Several Acuras, three Porsche 911s, four Lexus GS350s, three Infinitis, two Mercedes, two BMWs, Nissan Z cars and my other car right now is an Audi Q4 E-Tron. Every one of my cars has had something I would have done differently. Now, for the 2025 RDX… This is a fantastic midsize SUV. There is no better blend of performance, handling, reliability, comfort, ride quality, advanced technology, audio fidelity, styling, and value. Anyone who complains about the touchpad in the infotainment system probably didn’t spend much time in the car. I got comfortable with it after two days of driving. It quickly became intuitive, I don’t have to lean forward to touch the screen and avert my eyes from the road to look for where to tap, and in 2025 Acura made it so CarPlay fills the entire screen. So don’t give much weight to all those who complain about it. Having said all that, I would prefer a touchscreen that’s easily reachable from the driver position but I do not want a first year 4th generation RDX IN 2026. No way. Super Handlijg All Wheel Drive is amazing. There was a ten year gap in ownership of Acuras for me and during that time I drove some of the greatest cars of my life. None of them could come near the precise and sure-footed technology of SH-AWD from Acura. The ELS sound system blows away the Mark Levinson system in my Lexuses as well as the Harman Kardon systems in my BMWs. Simple as that. The seats are incredibly comfortable. The 4 cylinder turbo engine performs better than the six cylinder engines in my Lexuses and those are fantastic engines (and 8 speed transmissions). Having said all that, if you can wait for the 2027 RDX that will be the second year of the upcoming 4th generation RDX. I’m sure by then there will be a six cylinder Type S with 340+ horsepower, as well as an ergonomically desirable touchscreen. I expect that will be the best RDX yet.

I am a new Acura owner. I’ve only had my RDX for 3 days so far and we are loving it. Such a smooth ride. I love how the drivers seat moves back when turning the car off for an easy exit and moves back to your position when starting the car up. Very comfortable seating compared to other SUV’s I’ve drove in the past.

Overall I like the RDX…been driving TL and TLX for the past 20 years. Wanted to get a smaller SUV so it’s easier to get in and out of…I like this car-it’s sporty and has a nice interior…I don’t like that the shift is in the center-been driving it for 2 months and still not used to it. I don’t like the way the air flows through the front either-not enough for passengers in the back and the vents don’t have enough movement to keep me cool… Gas gage doesn’t light up when low? Or maybe it lets you get close to running out -got as low as 25 miles and still didn’t go on? Runs fine and gets okay gas mileage -just need some getting used to I guess -I forgot how much black shows everything-definitely going back to white when I turn this in! Hoping to start to like it more…so far my least favorite Acura!

Still getting accustomed to the car but love it so far. the only drawback so far is the screen is NOT a touch screen. You have a mouse like feature to move from radio to navigation and so on. Seems a little unsafe but I'm older so maybe it's just me.

I've had mine since late November 2024, it's a 2025 A-Spec Advance. I think it's a great all around vehicle. You can get more performance and luxury from other brands but those heavily optioned cars will be way more expensive. Acura has always been good at giving you 9/10 for much less cost. The infotainment system gets consistent poor scores from reviewers but it's a non-issue if you take the time to learn it. There are a couple of automated things that can be annoying like the instrument cluster dimming on its own or not being able to turn off the headlights manually but that seems to be more of an industry thing than just an Acura thing. The only thing I think it really kind of misses the mark on is fuel economy. I'm consistently seeing less than rated MPG. I'll caveat that with I do sometimes drive it hard but not all the time and feel it should be better. I don't know if it's caused by the SH-AWD system, being engaged more than traditional FWD biased AWD systems. I recently rented a Mazda CX-90 which is a bigger vehicle and got better MPG than I do in my RDX. Other than that I think it's the best small SUV you can get at its price point.

Can’t say enough as to how excited I get when I get to drive my RDX. This SUV is true representation to Acura and a great value for luxury. Very responsive of the line and you feel very comfortable, confident and safe.My Acura handles corners very well and steering is very smooth and responsive. Love all that safety features associated with it. They’ve thought of a lot when putting this vehicle together. I only wish this RDX had a V6. Looking forward to the next drive in this ride.

I'll update my speaker issue, yes there are speakers on the sides however, they are very weak sounding. That is the only issue I have with the acura is the sound system. when I drive I like to listen to music like so many others, but the speakers in the RDX are terrible. You are not getting and equal sound front to back. Even though I set the settings it still sounds so tinny.

I like my Acura but I absolutely hate the touchpad. I hate it so much that I am looking at trading my car in for a different car with a touchscreen. Also the auto trunk doesn't work great. Sometimes it will open when I sweep my foot under and sometimes it won't even though it is set up to do so. I love Acura this is my 3rd Acura but unless they change the touchpad for touchscreen it will be my last.

Handles well, Great ride. Looks good, I was waiting for the new Murano, but I'm glad I selected the RDX instead. I'm getting around 27mpg Hwy 22 local. You need to learn all the tech features once you do, pretty good by comparison. Love Advance package plenty of upgrades worth it, HUD (heads up display) one of my favorites

I've had this car about a month and 1000 miles. I have the Tech trim. It replaces my 2012 Acura MDX. So far I like it. It is comfortable and quiet. It took me a while to get used to the tech and the differences from the old car. The highest MPG I've seen is 28 MPG. I live in a rural area so I am not in heavy stop and go traffic. My opinion on the touchpad that everyone seems to hate. Honestly I am fine with it. I move it with my thumb, I don't have to take my eyes off the road. I test drove a different car with a touchscreen and I like this better. The things I don't like about the car: 1) I like having a key instead of the push, button start, 2) I miss having a cd player, I'm not a big phone person, I do not have music on my phone. I put some on a thumb drive, 3) The car shutting off and restarting at a stop light or stop sign is annoying and stupid. Yes I can turn that feature off but there is no way to permanently keep it off, everytime you restart the car you have to turn it off. 4) The small accessory screen has no way to lock the image that you want to see. All I want to see is the clock and it is gone everytime you restart the car. It does not default back to the last setting. 5) There is an update to the maps on the built in navigation. Time to load the updates is stating 6 hours.I am doing this in bits and pieces. I wish I could select the states or regions of the country to update. Naturally the updates started in the part of the country farthest away from me. Things I surprisingly liked: 1) the button shifters instead of a traditional shifter. I thought I would hate that but it is fine. 2) The big, obtrusive screen mounted on the dashboard, while not being very asthetic is fine, it is not in the way of your line of sight. 3) So far I have not missed the smaller cargo capacity as compared to my old MDX. I lile the car. I get a lot of favorable remarks from people when they see it.

Not really an upgrade from Mazda CX-5 Turbo

I lost my old 2021 CX-5 GT-Reserve during an accident, after I test drive Lexus NX350(where did all the space gone?), audi q5(80% people lease, and trim with vent seat too expensive to lease so dealer don't carry them), bmw x3(........uuuuuuugggggglllllllyyyyyy), Acura RDX was ok.... feel very same as my old car, with little bit better suspensive, so after a week driving it.... 1. infortament system is way worse than Mazda, touch pad bad, answer call button confusing(on AA screen, answer is at left, hang up is right, but on car, push wheel to left is hang up, push right is answer.....). On mazda, 2 buttons... easy simple and no confusing. 2. The Cargo cover was ....... not smart.... my Old CX-5 has the retractable cover and hook directly to the trunk door, so when you open truck, it automatically life the cargo cover..... come on.... on the RDX, I have to manually retract it every time otherwise I can't see what I have in it.... 3. Manual shift is joke, 10 gears.... 9 for forward.... you never find good gear manually.... Mazda have 6 speed, 5 forward.... old school and works great. 4. Brake hold and hand brake are on the left hand side, gear shift is on right hand side... Keep forgetting to turn it on. Mazda's buttons is all next to the shifter, you shift and push buttons right next to each other...... 5. Mazda have a constant ON ciger power in the center console, which is perfect for DashCam parking mode..... RDX only have 1, and it's off when car is off...... 6. Storage is joke, no place to put stuffs.... bottom one is 'wireless charger' which so hard to put phone there, don't even think about using it while you driving, u need go down so much to reach it and you may crash the car, upper center console storage is so small..... Mazda have very traditional style, not big but everything easy to grab and charge all at same place. 7, RDX have NO place for phone mount, even the air vent shape weird, Mazda have so many places you can mount phones, they even have one that hook on top of hazard warning button and you can mount phone on top of hazard button and still accessable to the button!!!! much much much easier. RDX have big glass roof, better suspension for ride...... everything else....... not that much better compare to CX-5. In conclusion, Mazda designed their cars with driver in mind, whatever they have, much be easy for driver to access and to use!!! Acura..... fancy design but so confusing to use, they design for show, not for driver to use. Even the horse power, 272 HP but slower than CX-5 240 something because transmission and low torque.

I live in Ottawa, Canada, so my experience is related to where I live. Also, before this car, I had an Audi Q5 and Infiniti G35, so take it with a grain of salt. coming from V6 to this little inline 4 with turbo, I can feel the difference. while 10 AT transmission makes smooth shifts, the car is slow off the start, and slow at the highway passing. this lack of power also translates into weak A/C. I have never had an A/C this weak, yes, including my little honda Civc from 15 years back... And the fuel economy is only marginally better than V6. So if you have a choice, don't go with this 2.0L inline 4. It sucks. then its 1500LBs towing capacity... if you are planning to tow anything more than a bike rack or kayak trailer, you are very likely to be disappointed. let's just say the smallest open trailer from homedpot rental is weighted at 1300LBs. in other words, you can only tow 200LBs or less, and assume you have no passengers at the same time. then comes to the security of the car. This car is so easily stolen, and it is one of the top 10 stolen cars. the insurance will be higher than you expected. here in Canada, it gets so bad, that my insurance company told me to install a tracking system at my own cost at $300+, or it will increase my insurance by $300/year... and a few more things I found annoying: 1. emergency braking. this is the most annoying, outright dangerous feature in this car. it floored my brake when the car in front of me pulled off the lane, with only a little bit of tails still in the lane. as an experienced driver one would be able to just drive around, with no need to slow down, right? no, this feature will floor your brake, and send everything from the backseat to the back of your head. and if this happens in an icy condition, good luck if you don't kill someone or being killed. at least 3 times happened to me. the last time, I almost ran into a bus! 2. windshield wiper has a mind of its own. It is unpredictable. while most of the time it behaves, from time to time, I wonder if a teenager is behind its controller.... 3. the touchpad... I mean, really? it is not only inconvenient but also outright dangerous. Say you are in the middle of a complex fly pass, then a phone call comes in, it takes up your screen, so you cannot see your navigation instructions. you either miss your exit or you have to move your attention from the road to the touchpad. I am not sure if this is android issue or the car's issue. Also, I set my phone to don't disturb, incoming calls still ring in this car anyway. 4. the blind spot warning feature drives me bananas. when I turn left there is another car turning left too in the lane left to me. this thing would not quit beeping! as a good drive you would check around for issues... oh, well, you will get used to it. but it still annoying 5. adaptive cruise control problem. sometimes the road shoots up (sharp uphill), and this feature will smash on your brake with no car in front of you whatsoever... 6. the A/C is so economical, its presence is hardly felt. in the summer, when you set it to 20C automatic, you will be sweating. in the winter, it is cold when with the same settings. 7. the windshield wiper defrosting feature isn't working during winter. It is supposed to make sure the wiper blade is free of ice. what I have are two ice pops in front of me. 8. as a luxury car, it doesn't auto-dim the mirrors. moving from Q5 and G35, this is the first feature I noticed lacking. 9. the drive mode dial is so big, and right in the center, it wastes so much space that could otherwise be used by useful buttons or displays. 10. no roof rails. unlike most SUVs in the market, this car doesn't come with roof rails. you'd need to pay for it. then you need to buy crossbars too. just in case you are like me, who needs to carry skis or other stuff otherwise cannot fit in the car itself. if you don't care about anything above, this is not a bad car. If you like driving or need to tow a bit more stuff, there are better and safer suvs out there.

Super disappointed in the infotainment & more

I came out of a 2024 Pathfinder Platinum that Nissan bought back as a lemon because the infotainment system and AC compressor failed. I got into a 2025 RDX and am incredibly disappointed to be experiencing SO many infotainment issues in this vehicle as well. Not only is the touchpad stupid/useless/dangerous while driving, but the stereo occasionally cuts to silence with a loud beep then slowly fades back on. Sometimes you cannot connect a phone via Bluetooth no matter what you do until you power cycle the car. Many other random glitches as well. Now the problems have spread to the start button, which occasionally refuses to start or stop the engine. Plus a horrible (factory) brake squeak in reverse that started when the car had 8k miles on it. The car drives like a dream when its going forward with the radio off. That's about it. Can't wait to turn this lease back in.

Have had the car since March 18th, about to be taken back to dealership for 5th time, but hey, I have 493 miles on it. Driver's seat makes a ticking noise during slow speed turns, dealership cannot get the issue fixed. The moonroof wind visor rattles, the dealer could not duplicate the problem though it started on the way home after I took it in for the rattle. The surround view camera stopped working, took it in the first time for this-dealer (shockingly) could not replicate that same day upon returning home the surround view camera stopped working when I was pulling vehicle into garage. Now besides the ticking noise from drivers seat, surround view camera not working and oh I forgot the driver's side rear seat rattling (which appears to now be fixed-for now), the android auto randomly produces an error message on the main screen on the dash. Other than that, I can't tell you how much I like the car as I have not reallly been able to drive it for an extended time. I am being told that a new camera has been order for my car, so I guess I get to take it back to the dealership again when that comes in and when they can squeeze me in (as Acura and Honda service dealers are overwhelmed with recalls). I do like the Urban Gray Pearl for a positive. Oh and it gets no where near the EPA mileage estimates, however that could be that the car just goes back and forth to the shop. Acura/Honda corporate to date has done nothing, but they have left 2 voicemails, one to let me know about my open ticket and the other directing me to call a rep back, which I did, left her a message and have not received a return call.

Touch pad everything is nearly impossible to use. Owner's Manual is absolutely worthless, who wrote that pile of junk? $50K car comes with navigation but no nav. manual. I'll get mine in 3 to 5 weeks. Thanks Acura. The more I learn about it, the more I hate it, and I worked at AHM for 24 years. Should have bought Chevy. Update, seven weeks into it and still no Nav. owner's manual. I contacted Acura again to order the manual, I was told, in writing, that they are experiencing an unusually high amount of traffic and that I may be contacted soon, but to not contact them again because it will just make them more busy.

Why have auto makers eliminated the traditional gear shifter? After driving for over 35 years, it's frustrating to have to retrain what had become intuitive. Push a button in to park, depress a button (down) to reverse, push another button in to drive. Definitely takes away from the driving experience. Remote start on the tech package trim level is only available through the app, which regularly stalled, could not "communicate" with the vehicle, and had to be uninstalled and reinstalled. It's faster to walk to the vehicle and start it manually. The touchpad feature to toggle between items on the display screen (no touchscreen feature) is either jumpy or laggy. I've taken to not using those features at all. The handling is a bit bumpier than expected, given that this is a luxury brand. It feels quite similar to the Honda CRV I had previously. I'm 2 weeks into a 4 year lease and am happy to ride along with someone else in their own vehicle since this vehicle has been a disappointment from the start.
