Have had this car for 19 years. It was bought in 2001 with only 19 miles on it. It now has a little over 200,000 miles. Most I’ve paid in repairs is around $500. Keep the oil change, change tires when you need to and she’ll do right by you. The only issue I have with it is, the oil has to be constantly changed. Would fix it but I’ll be buying a new one soon. My sister told me one day that my car didn’t owe me anything. She was right.

this is the best car ever. i got it at 80000 miles and now has over 100000 miles and no problems. am the 2nd owner. when i got it i had to learn to drive manual. so you now what a clutch goes through when someone uses it for the first time. and till this day it been the same clutch since it was made and its still good and soothe. great on gas i got around 36 city and 45 highway normal driving. no engine problems just great. if you want a car that gets great gas mileage, will drive past 300000 miles cheap and just pure reliable get this corolla but only a manual one. the autos are great but i believe they wont last as long . and the manual will get better mpg.

Literally the most reliable and fuel efficient car

I'll start off by saying that I have the base of the base CE models, crank windows, no cruise, traction or any other sort of controls. I've had my old girl for 3 years and let it sit for 2 of them, then put 70k on her, as I do a lot of long commutes. She's at 300k now and the worst problem I had was my ignition coil broke, but it took me 3 years to realize it as she didn't even show signs of it breaking besides the engine light, and I drive her like a maniac, so that's saying something. I even ran her with no oil for about a year and she didn't complain at all, and still only takes oil when I do my change, no more, no less. She death rattles at 120 km/h, but still gets up to 140 no problem, and will do a 1/4 mile in a whopping 15 minutes. I'm 6'6 and it kinda sucks with the manual version, but I don't care as I average 570km/ 50L tank on the highway. In short, she runs like a dream and won't die until you do, and would recommend this car to any students, long commuters and city drivers. It's hard to put in words how much I love her, and I'm sad to see her go, but I gotta go faster somehow.

Burns Oil

This was my second Corolla and I was quite disappointed with this. My 1988 was great, had it for 243,000 miles, very few problems apart from just taking care of an older car. This one was a different story. First, made a mistake by getting the CE, things like the backseat not folding down made this a car that was of little use for things like biking, hauling, etc. But mostly, around mileage 30,000 the car has been burning oil quickly, requiring 2-3 qts of oil to be put in on any long road trip, sometimes more than once. Now, the engine has sludge in it that is not covered by the extended warranty, making this car a lemon while still under warranty. Disappointed in the car and company.

Another typically efficient Corolla from Toyota - with the glaring exception of the 3-speed autobox. It's good for shuttling around town, but venture out onto your local Interstate and the car gets way too noisy and thirsty. A compact car such as this should average far better than 25mpg. So go for the 4-speed auto every time. You'll save yourself a lot of fuel and possibly your sanity too.
