Bought my Legacy w/85k mi on it less than a year ago. If you're looking to buy one, this is what you need to know: The GOOD: AWD offers great stability and makes the car fun to drive, good in snow but won't help you brake better in snow. THE BAD: The AWD system is delicate, no more than 2/32" difference in tire tread depth. Which means if you have 1 bad tire, you'll need to get 4 new tires as I have already done. I've had recurring Alignment issues as did others. I've had Tire Air leaking issues, as did others. Engine hesitation/misfire seems to be normal even when bought new. Gas mileage is not impressive. Used to get 25-27. Now I get 20-24 since the misfire issue got worse. Never again!!

Wow. I had a Honda before and it pales in comparison to this vehicle. I have always noticed Subaru's, but never thought I could be this happy with one. I love driving it. The sport shifter is perfect for me, since I have always had a manual up until now. I still get to go through the motions and control the engine. I am at one with the road in this vehicle it is such a smooth drive. Everyone comments on it. You will not be disappointed.

I'm the original owner, just sold it last month with 105,000 miles. The cars handles great and does well in the snow but I've had more repairs issues with it than with any other car I've owned (including a Ford Tempo). Front bearings (twice), warped rotors, rack and pinion (had to replace), power steering leaks, grease leaking from CV boots onto the catalytic converter causing a burning smell for a year, (manual) transmission needs a rebuild, rattles in the dash, fabric on the driver's seat wore through to the foam rubber after a couple of years. But at least I haven't had to fix the head gasket, which is supposed to be the number one issue with Subarus. I've enjoyed driving the car, I've held on to it for a pretty good while, but this car isn't an example of Japanese reliability. I sold it to a friend who can do the mechanical work himself and I bought a 2018 Mazda 6. I wasn't convinced that another Subaru would be any better for reliability than this Legacy.

I had this car for 5 years. I bought it after my Suzuki blew up in Colorado. The first problem was no ac. I should have checked that it worked before driving it off the lot but it was winter. Another problem was with torn boots and the exhaust smelled bad. I don’t fix those issues. The next issue was power steering went out. Next was the rear left bearings needed replacing. After a year finally the struts started going. Then after that I’ve had enough and traded it in. I also had to replace the regular stuff like brakes rotors and battery. It was a nice car it just had to much reliability issues for only 80k. I traded it in at 135k miles.

This is a great car. I got it for my wife for her birthday gift and she loves it. The build quality is great. A very underrated Accord alternative. The AWD was the #1 selling feature for me. So far no problems, well one...I haven't been able to drive it because my wife won't let me.
