i personally love the car, i am a auto enthusiast and this car is just great. it has a very sturdy look and build quality. mine is 10 years old and has over 120k miles. i have replace the converter once and took it in for annual check ups and maintenance. one major problem is the the head gaskets and the oil. other wise the car is outstanding. the AWD is one of the best in the business and does its job really well.

Originally purchased for my wife, it became mine when larger SUV was traded. Had only 1 problem, a leak in the engine, which took 3 trips to fix. No other problems. Generally a solid build. Overall very pleased. Look forward to keeping for many years. Recently, I purchased a Toyota Avalon for not many more $, much larger vehicle, get much better gas milage, more inexpensive by 1/3 to insure, makes me question, in retrospect, the Forester purchase.

I do not understand why this car receives such rave reviews. The interior is cramped and uncomfortable. The controls are too small and difficult to operate.Especially the cruise control, you must take your eyes off the road for an excessive period of time to turn it on.The air onditioning and defrostis inadequate. The engine has an annoying loud metallic tapping sound for the first ten minutes after started.Poor acceleration with the automatic transmission.Check engine light comes on frequently. Uncomfortable arm rest. Cup holders that block the instrumentation.

Great vehicle -- very pleased with it. Smooth ride, looks good, good gas mileage for this sized car (truck?).

Not familiar with the Subaru line, I was initially skeptical of purchasing a Forester. However, the more I drive it, the more suprised I am at how well it handles. What attracted me was the AWD, sunroof, and better gas mileage (I traded a 2002 Trailblazer for it as the Chevy didn't have any of those things), and the only thing I can complain about the Forester is, it isn't as roomy and has a firmer suspension. Other than that, this subaru was an excellent decision. The construction and paint is of high quality. The interior is quiet. The engine has plenty of horsepower. And there is plenty of convenience with controls, etc.
