That's a difficult issue to solve. There are several different things that could cause the problem. I've seen it happen w/ a faulty ground to the fuel pump on a similar car. I posted a longer version on the "Pontiac Grand Prix 2004 Redesign...Comments" forum. We tried the Acura RSX and the Mazda6s. Dropped by Pontiac dealer for fun and ended up buying a 2003 GT w/ 1SB, Wide Track Package, 4 way lumbar Driver seat for less than 19 grand when all was said and done. Although I'm betting the 2004 GP is a better car, I'm also betting deals like the ... Read More

Hmmmm. The website says that Motorweek is not be shown til 24 Jan! You got an early taste! The teaser emails that GM is sending to former GP owners (like me) say this: **Pontiac Grand Prix is reborn for 2004. Taking the concept of the true driver's car to the next level, the thought arose: Might one car excel at everything? Check out the '04 Grand Prix online and the question ... Read More

Due to the fact that the Firebird's price climbed the mountain (and ultimately jumped itself to its own death), i think its awesome that Pontiac has chosen the Grand Prix to step to the plate and bat cleanup!! I own a '99 full size, black Prix SE, and I dont see a car built by Pontiac thats better qualified to take the reigns......By muscleing it up to form the GTO, it ... Read More

Vc jumper and Dindak-Thanks for your responses, still waiting for Bob to verify his statement. I just got the RATED times for the 2003 Grand-Prix GT and the Saturn 2003 L300 from the Bonneville site of which I am a member. PONTIAC GRAND PRIX- GT- 8.0 SATURN L300- 8.2 Not what I would consider EITHER vehicle "SPANKING" the other one!! Chuck

Hi Bob, you stated in your post that the L300 Saturn 6 cyl-182 HP- (Ijust test drove both the 2003 Saturn - L-200 and L300- this past weekend) can SPANK a normally aspired 3800- do you have actual 0 to 60 figures or 1/4 mile numbers to back that up?? Reason being that i also test drove a 2003 Grand Prix GT- (200 HP)I am purchasing the Grand Prix GT- not ... Read More

Please clarify. The 2003 Grand Prix is the same as the 1997-2002. Did you see the G-Force Concept Car? The G-Force reflects the styling direction of the 2004 Grand Prix. About 70% of the new car, according to Pontiac when it was unvailed at the Chicago Auto Show.

I have heard that the 40th anniversary Grand Prixs have not been made yet. Could be October. The Dark Cherry is the only color and its not on any other Grand Prixs. In the catalog it has the same code number as the Dark Cherry used on the 40th Anniversary Bonneville which came out in 1997. I have a friend with the Bonneville and it is more dark maroon then a ... I think the "Speedster becoming a Pontiac" is dead. The new Grand Am is on the Epsilon, not the Sigma platform. The Bonneville was to be supplanted by a sport wagon called the "Banner", but that has recently been axed (and maybe was what Road and Track was saying would be the new Grand Prix). The Buick Signia (sister car to the Banner) is dead as well. Expect many changes in ... Read More

Stnel, it's on the printed magazine. I tried to find the picture on their site before posting but had no success. Teo, I wish I'm wrong, but the magazine article posted a picture not of the Vibe, but of the new Grand Prix, though I'm not sure if it was the one for 2003 or later. But what has surprised me is that it also stated that Pontiac will drop all ... Read More

A 2003 replacement is already on schedule. Look for DOHC engines and possibly RWD. I think Evandro is confused with the upcoming 2002 Pontiac Vibe, which is a sportwagon/hybrid type of vehicle and it is a spin off of the all new 2003 Toyota Corolla. It is built at the GM/Toyota NUMMI Fremmont, California plant and it is built along side the '03 Corolla and the Toyota Tacoma compact pickup. The ... Read More

Do you remember when this current body style of Grand Prix came out? I had a neighbor who had a friend visit her with a Grand Prix and I really liked the car. It seems this was around the mid to late 90's. When I decided on a Grand Prix, I had wanted one like hers but they weren't making them like that anymore. It could be that the styling was ... The Pontiac Grand Prix SE sedan is the only model offered with the 3100 OHV V6 engine that churns out 175HP. This engine works fine on any N-body sedan model (Malibu, Grand AM, Alero) but it is anemic and deficient for the larger and heavier W-body platform Grand Prix. The Grand Prix is best enjoyed with the Normally aspirated 3800 Series II OHV V6 GT model (200HP) or the Supercharged version ... Read More

That the Impala has a much better structural rigidity than the Grand Prix in despite of the fact that both models are spin offs of the W-body platform. If you have ever driven or 'touched' an Impala, the doors, hood, fenders, etc have a much heavier, beefier sheetmetal than say the GP. The Impala already meets 2003 Government safety requirements while the GP only meets 1997 standards, hence the lower safety ... Read More

Does any one has the scoop on the all new due for 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Regal? I know that these will be the first GM Intermediates to switch from the current W-Body platform to the all new "Mid-lux" GM world car platform. I know the "Mid-Lux" platform is RWD capable as well as FWD. Has anyone seen a sketch of the new models? Will they be RWD? Will ... Read More

I echo Yurakm comments in regards to the Impala LS. If you are considering the Pontiac GP GT sedan, it would be worth it to test drive the Impala LS. The Impala LS's engine and transmission are identical to the GP GT (3800 series II V-6, 200 HP and the 4T65-E 4 speed auto). However, for family hauling chores the Impala LS is a bit better suited for the job. The ... Read More
