Hey i'm new here, recently bought a 1997 Galant automatic which was imported from japan in 2005. When at a standstill, the car seems to idle erratically. The engine speed goes between 1000-1200rpm up and down constantly when waiting at lights etc. What kind of problem would you associate this with? Also the "check oil" warning light flickers on and off when the car is cold, even though the oil was ... Read More
Sorry About the response time. Yes it was an '04 Galant ES. Dodge offered us 13,500 for a trade, we took a 2005 Dodge GraNd Caravan :( which I am none to impressed, not just beacuase it's a minivan, But It lacks an overall quality feel. but yes we got an awesome price on it , and really it is a nice van, I wonder what mitsubishi is doing W/out a ... Hey The same thing happen to me I was in the highway when the TCL & Service Engine light came on, them I loss engine power. The car only had 800 miles the dealer had to replace the engine circuit board, they told me it was a factory defected piece. It took them about a week to replace they had to order the piece from Mitsubishi because every car has their ... Read More

A writer with a national magazine is writing an article on 8 cars that are under $20K for families on a budget or as a 2nd or 3rd car. He is looking for parents with young children who have recently purchased or are planning to purchase any one of the following vehicles: VW Jetta the new “Value Edition”, Chevy Cobalt (with SAB), Mitsubishi Galant, Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Vibe, Ford Focus Wagon, ... Does anybody have any advice on a Mitsubishi to Mitsubishi trade..i have a 2004 GAlant ES which has 22k in excellent shape, I basically want a 2005 Galant ES w/moonroof and alloys...will I get a better deal considering I would be trading a Mitsu in?, our local Mitsu dealer has no used Galant's, and never does seem to, for that matter I rarely see a 2004+ gALANT for sale on any ... I find it hysterical when people say this "I receive nothing but compliments on my ". Who do you think is really going to come up to you and be all "Wow, that is one butt-ugly car?". Certainly not strangers, and probably not friends. Sean, you can make all the excuses you want about the Galant's sales, and no longer going to fleets, but I recall reading recently that Mitsu is ... If you really lookes at the numbers you will see Mitsubishi Drastically cut it's fleet business, to strenghten resale and profit..obviously it will take some time.. the 99-03 Galant was nice for it's time but it was a dated design, if you notice alot of newer cars follow the basic design of the '04 Galant, Pontiac's G6,Chrysler's 300 series, Nissan's maxima and Altima, Passat, and somewhat the New 2005 Avalon...they all share ... The Mitsubishi Galants are great cars. We put in over 120,000 miles on ours with little repairs and sold it for a good price because it was in excellent condition in and out. It was so great we bought the new 2005 V6 Galant LS and it does have ABS and front and side air bags and we just love it. Galants have long term reliability and low maintenance costs - ... Read More
We just sold our 1990 Mitsubish Galant (original owners) with 120,000 miles on it. The inside and outside looked beautiful. Mitsubishi has probably the best finishes of anyone. Also the car was in excellent shape and expenses for the time we owned it were almost nil. We just bought the new 2005 Galant V6 and love it in every way. The Galants are really built well and the prices are excellent ... Read More
Mitsubishi should be commended for making seat-mounted side impact airbags standard in the 2005 Galant. These airbags protect the driver and front passenger's head and chest. However, the vehcile still does not offer the desirable side curtain setup, which offers protection to the rear passenger. The Galant with the side airbags scored a "Good" in the IIHS side impact, because it has an excellent structure. If the Galant had a side ... Read More
2004 Honda EX V6 - $23K 2005 Toyota SE V6 - 23.9K 2004 Mitsubishi Galant GTS - 21.2K (1 at this price, more at $22.2K) Hondas and Toyotas are loaded plus they've got the 5-speed auto, nice leather and interior, and side curtains. I'm all for driving a car for +10 years. Mitsu's shortfalls will stand out even more then. The upfront cost difference is so small that people don't even ... Read More
"I have driven the GTS model by maxamillion1"; Hey Max lets not forget that this car is considered a "transplant". It is assembled by US auto workers in Normal, ILL plant. This new Galant is ugly looking. There is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing that would have me buy one of these new 04 Galants. When you look at a car, there has to be something that inspires a person ... Read More
"by lngtonge18": The point you make about torque is well taken. Though, I think there is one minor point you may have overlooked. The Mitsubishi uses a 3.8 liter engine to achieve those numbers. This is an important point in any car. I'm originally from Detroit; have a brother who is an engineer at Ford Motor Company. One thing he has always noted was the importance of torque. This is dramatically ... Read More
Being a former Galant owner myself (89) I can appreciate wanting to own a vehicle that not everybody has (400k Accords/Camrys sold). However, there a reason they sell that many; this is because of high quality, reliability and dependability. When the VW Passat was redesigned in 2002 it won midsize car of its class (beating out Accord and Camry). One main reason was the appearance of high quality materials used on ... Read More
This car is simply ugly. Look at the taillights and front headlights. Mitsubishi once seemed to do a very nice job offering an alternative to Honda Accord or Toyota Camary. I really wouldn't be surprised to see rebates on this car at this time next year (05). I once owned a Galant but the exterior of this car has to do a little something for me. This does nothing to inspire ... Read More
I have a 2000 Galant DE that I love, but my lease is up at the beginning of January so I am considering the '04 Galant. I haven't seen one in person yet, and I'm totally torn as to whether or not I like what I see in the photos. I mean, my 2000 is *great*-looking; looks like an older-style BMW. And though I prefer the black door handles etc. to ... Read More
What the heck is that monstrosity?!!! Looks like the car has a BEAK! If that's the direction Mitsubishi is planning to take with the new Galant, I'll hold on to my "old" 2000 ES, thank you very much...
