Hey i'm new here, recently bought a 1997 Galant automatic which was imported from japan in 2005. When at a standstill, the car seems to idle erratically. The engine speed goes between 1000-1200rpm up and down constantly when waiting at lights etc. What kind of problem would you associate this with? Also the "check oil" warning light flickers on and off when the car is cold, even though the oil was ... Read More

Mitsubishi car's are reliable. Just like any other manufacturer it had his "not so good" models. But they have improve the quality noticeably. Galant's previous 1997 were known of body integrity issues. 1998+ Galant's didn't encounter such issues, except for black colored 98-03 Galants. I have a 98 Mirage DE with 123k, 03 Lancer ES, 78k, 2 friends of mine have '00 Galant ES, 107k and '04 Galant DE, my stepfather ... Read More

Selling a car after only two years is something I try very hard NOT to do. I kept my last car, a 1997 Nissan Sentra, for 5 years, and my car before that, a 1994 Mazda 323, for four years (wife drove after I bought the Sentra). Here is the resale value on 1999 model Galants and Proteges, equipped as close to my cars as possible, with 80,000 miles, which is ... Read More

We own a 1997 Galant ES with 64,000 miles and just had to replace the Vibration Crankshaft Pulley thingy. Has anyone else had a problem with this? The dealer we took it to said they've seen many Diamontes and Galants coming in with this problem. When this part goes bad, it vibrates extensively and throws the belts off. He suggested that Mitsubishi needs to redesign this part. The part alone was ... Read More
