I drove Mercedes since 2008. After E320 and glc 300 I assumed that GLC 43 AMG would be a step up and gladly paid nearly 80k for it. Unfortunately it turned out to be not so. I could live with uncomfortable seats ad creaky cheap plastic interior but 3 times the car stalled at the light. Dealership didn’t find any issues and my daily commute was pretty much praying and hoping that I won’t …

Not content to let Mercedes and BMW dominate the coupe-style SUV market, Audi introduced the Q5 Sportback in 2021. It follows a similar script as the GLC Coupe, with a sportier look and higher price than the standard version. It also suffers some of the same flaws, notably less headroom and cargo space. We prefer the GLC's more cohesive design and fancy interior, but the Audi costs slightly less and comes comparably equipped.

Based on the BMW X3, the BMW X4 shaves cargo volume and rear seat space for the sake of style. The X4 is the driver's choice, though, with more alert handling and an available high-performance X4 M variant.

The GV70 is a newcomer to compact luxury SUVs and its fastback roofline and tapered tail straddle borders on coupe design. Regardless, the Genesis couples distinctive style with ample interior room and far more cargo space (an extra 11.3 cubic feet) than the GLC Coupe. The price also makes the GV70 a bargain, opening up the budget to load up on luxuries. The GLC offers a more spirited and refined ride, but the GV70 is close enough, and its price is compelling enough that you might not care about the Benz's livelier dynamics.
