I've owned my car since purchasing it new from a dealership. It has about 86,000 miles. I've owned it since October 2010, have completed all recommended service on time, and kept the car in a garage for 5 of 6 years. Recently the torque converter went out. The Mercedes Benz dealership in the city where I now live quoted $4000 for the repair. After looking further, they also told me the battery ($450) and starter ($1400) need replacing. Further they said the brake rotors are uneven and that is causing a wobble in the brake pedal. Their proposed solution is to replace both the rotors and brake pads (which are only 50% worn I will add). I didn't even ask the cost. But why would the rotors on a car that supposedly has lifetime brake pads go bad unless they were defective to begin with. Inside the vehicle the handles that are used to move the seat backs forward have started to peel up and the sharp metal cuts almost every one of the people who get into the back seat. I had zero passengers in the backseat for the first three years of ownership, and that's when the handles started to peel. The wood trim is coming loose on the front dash, the steering wheel leather is worn through, and the carpet on the driver's side floor is has holes worn in it. I'm not hard on cars, and have taken care of this one to the extent possible. But there are far too many problems on a car that should be more reliable for the price paid for it. When I first purchased this car, I had such pride of ownership, and loved the uniqueness that comes with the model design. But now I'm just disillusioned and will never purchase a Mercedes Benz again after experiencing the lack of quality and reliability I have with this car. Not to mention the awful customer service I received at the dealership (never get calls back, service manager says he will do something but never follows through, etc), and when I called MB corporate to complain about the quality of the car at such low mileage (again no call back and extremely discourteous customer service manager). I guess it is true what they say about first year design models (in this case it's actually the second I think. But either way, hopefully MB got it right the third time and isn't still selling cars with such a disregard for quality. Beware if you are buying one of these used, quality is poor, repairs are imminent and costly, and MB cares nothing about it customers.

Bought the car used from Carvana sept 2021 with 74k miles very aggressive with AMG package it has! I will start out with the things I like! the looks the design even on a 10 year car it has a solid quality build is very nice even compared to my wifes Benz 2016 GLC my 10 year old car feels more elegant not cheap and rides smother! new benz are getting cheaper with newer models mine went for over $67,545 new back 10 years ago! love the power V8 I have removed the resonator and put in X pipe it sounds amazing I have also replaced all interior lights with LED bulbs to give it a more modern look I also like how the car has a good aftermarket platform and support on car forms and I have more plans to modify it! I do my own service like simples things oil changes break pads rotors trouble shooting things and installing aftermarket parts to an extent. now I was lucky because carvana was able to take care of about 4k of repairs that needed to be done that i noticed when i got the car from carvana I paid a deposit of 125.00 to the benz dealership for the work new front brakes rotors pads new wood trim there was a fuel pressure regulator leak new battery new seat belt extender im sure the work could have been a lot less not going to dealership but I didn't pay for it so thanks! now car is great no issues! the driving experience is awesome love the sport mode 0 to 60 in 4.9 and no lag right off the line u can roast the tires tops out at 130 this car could do easy over 180 smooth by doing a chip upgrade or taking it to a tuner. I have summer tires on it handles great. and when I don't want to gas dump I can get up to speed set to cruise and I can get 21-22MPG in city for a V8 that's amazing! yes its a benz and things are expensive when they break that's why u should YouTube the fix or look at a shop other than dealer who can service it! I will be keeping this car for awhile its not a boring everyone has one of a kind of car. I will be changing plugs and coils myself soon also transmission fluid will need to do other than that I seen these cars having up to 180k miles and still going. great build quality! very happy with it!

I had this 2011 E 550 for one week. It died in my garage.I had to get it towed away after 5 days. Never again. The map and street address was not decipherable. Never again!,

Picked her up with a 4 yrs warranty in MD with 76K and drove it back to Princeton, NJ up 95. As soon as I got on 95 I opened her up while looking for a station to listen to, did over 120mph, no issues. I beat a a few cars: Mustang 5.0 a few beemers and more. Now a yr later, I replaced a 10yr old starter, tires, couple oil changes, trans flush and reaching 97K, tires are next and some new rims for spring. Someone rear ended me in brooklyn NYC and he drove off, got that replaced (Benz recommended) I want to do a resonator delete on my muffler also. I replaced all the wood trim(chipping and rotted) with carbon fiber. She's a beast, best car, tough like a tank and OMGGGG so fast esp in sport manual mode. I need to remove the limiter and lower the suspension just a inch or so. #stuttgart #einspritz
