NHTSA Complaint ID: 10341107 I have a 2006 Infiniti M35 with 42K miles. While driving, the engine stopped responding to the accelerator. I pushed the accelerator to the floor and tried pumping the pedal and nothing. The engine sat at an idle and would not respond. After locking my 2006 M35 I returned to it 30" later and found all the windows open. I decided I must have accidently hit something on my car key to cause the problem. Never happened again.
I live in a apt with a remote control gate and when I went to start my M35 this morning I found all the windows rolled down but nothing was taken. This is the second time in a month this has happened without anything being stolen. Is this being caused by a rigged remote control for the gate or is there another problem? Anyone with similar stories?
I bought a 2006 m35 just last week with 12,000 miles on it. The warranty on an infiniti is 4 years or 60,000 miles. if you buy an '06 the warranty expires next year. An '07 will expire in 2011, making it less likely you'll want to buy an extended warranty. I didn't because I had 10 months on the original warranty so the 1st year of any new warranty is ... Auto lock/unlock on M35/M45 is NEVER offered by Infiniti - Not with ANY package or any option. None, never, ever from 2006 through 2009. So, don't bother about it - unless you go with after market. Yes, I know this for sure, 100%, 1000% sure.
I was using reliability ratings from Consumer Reports. Both 2006 and 2007 M35 get the best reliability rating overall, but Consumer Reports also breaks it down into 17 categories. In 5 of the categories (Climate System, Suspension, Breaks, Body Hardware, and Power Equp.) the 2007 scores 1 notch above the 2006 model. However, both 2006 and 2007 score extremely well. 2007 gets top mark in 16 out of 17 categories, and ... Read More
Hi, I am planning to buy a used M35 and I am trying to decide between the 2006 and 2007 models. I test drove both and they feel the same. However, I noticed that the 2006 M35 gets slightly lower reliability ratings in consumer reports. Also, I read some people having issues with bluetooth connectivity in 2006 M35s. What do you think? Interesting comment. I live north of NY City and ski in VT. The 2006 M35X 4 wheel drive was excellent in the snow notwithstanding the OEM POS Goodyear RS-As. My gripes were vague steering, trammeling, defective steering rack, overhyped BOSE, seat heaters that never heated except when not necessary, horrible mileage, noisy exhaust, heavy steering and harsh ride. The service was great and build quality very good. I trusted Pepe Motors ... Read More
I upscaled and downsized from a 2006 M35X to a 2009 Audi A4 2.0 quattro, sports package. I recommend driving one before going for an Infiniti M or G. hi, barryend, You got the exactly same answer I got. It looks infiniti is trying to avoid this issue.
Your technician may not have heard of it, but your service manager should have been in the car with you. I suggest you drive a 2008 sport to see if it does the same thing. My windows opened in the middle of the night while I was sleeping, I didn't touch the remote. When I went into the parking lot in the morning, the gate was half way open, and all 4 windows were down so it had something to do with the remote or whatever someone was using to try to open the gate. Nothing was taken from my car luckily.
If you hold the unlock button on the remote, it not only unlocks the doors, it will open all of the windows. Depending on what is in your pockets, or where you place the remote, it is possible that button could have been pressed long enough for that to happen. I know I've activated the panic button on mine accidentally while it was in my pocket.

Pete, do you feel that the majority of issues that owners bring up on this site are isolated issues? Sherman I think the issues that show are pretty isolated, but of course if a few people see their own problem a few times, they may feel otherwise. The car has been perfect for me in every way. I think the most accurate gage of reliability comes from broader surveys. Consumer Reports ... Read More
First, the BMW 5 Series continues to trounce sales of the "made to out-perform" Infiniti M35/45. Sales of the 5 Series in the USA were up 2% over the last year through August 31, 2006 and sales of the M were down 19%. Now in the latest issue of MotorTrend, the Infiniti G35S came in second to the BMW 330i. Problem is second was last place in this comparo! Looks like ... Read More
About a month ago, I began researching and test-driving cars in the category being discussed on this forum. Decided to sign up and share my experience. So, here goes… Sidebar … CR and JD Powers didn’t seem like much help, since they show that (to take the recently release JD Powers Dependability study as an example) 2004 Lexus owners typically had one or two problems; 2004 Cadillac, BMW, Infiniti, Jaguar, and ... So I thought I would post for others what I found out. I ordered the remotes from the website you posted..very helpful btw. It's Infiniti of Scottsdale. The remotes were $43 a piece. I got them in and realized I didnt have the key blank on the inside. I just took the two remotes I got to Infiniti of Chantilly here in Va and they took the remotes..charged me 26 bucks ... Read More

Not sure how this intersects with nascent debate here, but, following some earlier comments would lead to expectation that German LPS buyers would convey a lot of excitement about their cars. Strategic Vision (SV) has been rating consumer enthusiasm about products in many markets for about a decade. They're method is not one of problem-counting. Rather they try to measure (as social psychologists have long done) qualities and attitudes: satisfaction with ... Read More
This is an old message (#4224 from Aug 18, 2005) on the Infiniti M35/M45 2006+ forum: The engine in the M35 is almost identical to that found in the G35 and FX35. Both can run on regular. I agree, however, that the V8 should be fed premium (335 hp) and to realize optimum fuel economy premium should be used. The V6 can run quite well on regular. Infiniti only "recommends" premium ... For the last two years, I drove a 2004 GS 300. I recently looked at a 2006 GS300 and then looked at an Infiniti M35. The M35 won me over immediately. More room, better Nav system, and it just screams down the road. It's actually a quieter drive than the GS-300 as well and was several thousand dollars cheaper. The GS-300 just seemed like a bland car versus the M-35. Yes, ... Read More
In addition to the options of caring or not caring about anecdotal reports from a friend who owns a car that one is considering, there's also the option of "selective caring". Some, I'd speculate, will read your post and focus on the four trips to dealer to replace push-button-start switch. But if some other reader of your post has driven an Audi A6 and loves it, then it's your year of ... Read More
So, as I mentioned in a previous post, based on the Infiniti.com configurator and the Edmunds pricing for the 2007 M35, it appears the advanced technology package, or premium package is required to add HIDs. With regard to the M35x, climate controlled seats, auto-dimming mirror and homelink are now standard (previously included in the Journey pkg). To get the 2-channel Bose, you have to get the Tech pkg, which also includes ... Read More

If you go to nissannews.com, there is a press release that says, among other things, the 2006 Journey Package items are now standard equipment on all 2007 models, except for the base M35. It lists those items to include climate controlled seats, rear-view monitor, HIDs and the Bose system. However, as others have mentioned, when you go to "build" a M35x on the Infiniti website, HIDs are a stand-alone option, and ... Read More
TOTAl QUALITY INDEX The Total Quality Index score is calculated using multivariate statistical techniques that measure the correlations of all aspects of the vehicle ownership experience including product, reliability and dealership (independent variables) against multiple outcome measures (dependent variables) which include the following: -Satisfaction with the complete ownership experience -Perception of quality -Owner reported delight -Future purchase intent -Emotional attachment to vehicle The correlations derived from this complex procedure are transformed ... I find you all over the place in your somewhat, as you say, fanatic arguing. As with aesthetic preferences, I don't think any one of us could argue with another saying "I bought the LPS with lease terms that worked for me financially. It was a key factor for me. Right now, if I go the BMW wesbite and construct a 2007 525i (which is a 215 hp car) that totals ... Read More
According to Edmunds, the MSRP of the car you are getting is $49000 and the cost is $44,628. Since the 2007's are expected out in less than 30 days, one would expect some discount of the 2006 M35...let's say the dealer gets a $1000 profit over cost (I've included transportation in the cost already). Based on the June infiniti rates, the car on a 24 month lease (15K) should cost you ... Read More
CR report influenced me as well, but it wasn't only the prediction of greater reliability. In fact, when I read CR a second time, I saw (p. 14) that the survey was conducted in the spring of 2005. Makes intuitive sense ... the M has dominated LPS segment in automotive press and its astonishing high marks in CR's auto issue -- 92% of owners said they'd but it again and it was the only one of the "Top Picks 2006" that got the "excellent" mark in all three major categories: "test score", "reliability", and "crash protection". After a month of research I finally bought my wife (and kids) the car she (they) wanted (thanks edmunds and forum). Our initial search started with looking at sedans that sat 5 as comfortably as possible. My wife drove an ML320 for six years (and 93K miles) and now wanted a sedan. After checking out about 6 different cars, we narrowed it down to the Lexus ES350 and the Infinity M35. ... Read More
That's pretty bold speculation in the face of historical evidence which is absolutely to the contrary. What does "historical evidence" have to do with anything? Arent we talking about new cars?
