Great Car

2012 Hyundai Accent GS 4dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 6M)
I bought my 2012 Accent 1 year ago with 52,000 on it. I had to pay 8,000 but it blue booked at around 11,000 or more. Great start right out of the gate with the dealer. I was told it gets about 38 mpg. I have been getting 30 to 35 mpg in town and on the highway I get normally 40 to 45mpg but I have managed a few 50 mpg days , I think I was using fuel tank octane boost on those days I … can't recall. I really like the way the car handles but it sits very low, it has 77,000 on it now and no problems, I change oil regularly and just had the 75,000 mile fluid change with transmission and all the other fluids. Had the fuel system cleaned also. Battery is getting old and needs replaced , other than that my seats are worn and faded, I just put new seat covers on it, if you buy one I would put the seat covers on them right away. Really impressed with the car, thinking of getting the car all lubed up underneath and normal tune up asap just to prevent anything from going wrong. I hope to get 250,000 out of it or more if I can. I drive it for Uber and Lyft and its pretty good for uber trips because of gas mileage but if making lots of stops in the city 30mpg is pretty average, which is great for uber since you pay for your own gas and most cars don't get that in the city. I drove a Hybrid Ford Fusion and this car gets all the gas mileage just not a little rougher stopping and starting than an automatic or heavier car. It sits very low I have to take it in for oil changes because I don't have a jack to fit underneath and its to low to drive up on ramps.
No spare shocker!

I love this car but I was not "surprised" there was no spare tire, I was down-right pissed.
I took a road trip over New Year's and when I was heading back home, discovered there wasn't a spare tire!!
Who does this!!
What idiot S. Korean engineer dreamed this one up?
Scenario: Me and my wife and son hit road debris at night on the freeway which shreds the tire.
I'm frantically looking up … and down for the spare which doesn't exist.
Bang, lights out.
I guess Hyundai thinks a tire inflater will fix this.
Wrong!
This is inexcusable and is a safety hazard plain and simple.
I'm notified the dealer, Hyundai and I think I'm going to contact a federal agency to complain.
Reliable but cheap quality

2012 Hyundai Accent GS 4dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 6M)
Bought this car in May 2012 with 28km on it (not 28,000). It currently has around 175,000km on it. It has been a reliable commuter car for me.
The good:
-Great fuel economy (avg. 6.8-7.3L/100km)
-Only ever changed the oil and replaced tires, haven’t even replaced the brake pads yet.
The bad:
-Road noise
-cheap interior, not super comfortable on long road trips
-underpowered, most … noticeable when I have passengers, not too bad when I’m driving alone.
-6 speed manual transmission is direct drive instead of overdrive. Doing 120kph on the highway has the RPM’s at around 3,000.
Overall, this has been a good commuter car, but doesn’t make a great family car or a car you’d want to take on long road trips.
Watch out for tire blowouts!!

2012 Hyundai Accent GS 4dr Hatchback (1.6L 4cyl 6M)
Pros: I do love this little car. So does my son who just got his driver's license. GREAT mileage - have hit 47.7 on the highway with only me and no cargo in the car. Great handling. Good headroom. Cons: Poor rear visibility. Headlights don't light up front side of car, so can't see into where you're turning until you've already turned. Tires get flattened very easily - can't even … count how many I've replaced. And they are not cheap. Around 80,000 car became very loud inside while highway driving. have to yell to people in the backseat for them to hear. My 6' 2" husband gets leg cramps on long drives, even with the seats pushed all the way back.
