I own a 2003 Element.I had the same problem with my windshield back in 2005-2006 and took it to the Honda dealer as it was still under warranty. The "windshield expert" put the pen test to it and said it was hit with a rock or pebble and that caused the crack. That crack turned into a very large crack. I received a letter in the mail from a attorney that ... Read More
I own a Honda Element 2003, the windshield cracked this winter, the car is in Ukraine but I will be taking it back to England soon. Could anyone tell me of a dealer that would ship the windshield to me. I have tried to google but dont get any real answers and they always ask for a zip code. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance Gordon Melling
I'm trying to narrow down possibilities as I don't know mcuh about cars and at the present time, I cannot afford the possible expense of "un-needed" repair costs. My 2003 Element EX wouldn't start on a very cold AM recently. Cold AM starting is not a new problem, but usually within many tries-it's not a problem. This time it seemed the same, but after lots of tries and following Manual in ... Read More
As a general rule they should still work. They all run to the warning light but they are on seperate circuits so they should all have power to them still. I stress though that is a general rule and everytime an airbag blows off its a differant situation.
I feel and share your pain. My 2006 E blew the passenger side airbag several years ago from a hard bottom scrape. No body damage. After several months of research and costs above $1000 I decided to cut off the airbag (puny bag anyway) and stitch up the seat - and live with the light. As for replacing the airbag - I'm told there are several items that need to be ... Read More
As a former auto body repair technican i have only one thing to say when it comes to people messing with air bags. If you dont have the proper training on how to repair DONT DO IT!!!!! My '03 Honda Element EX was hit last December on the passenger side by an uninsured teen driver and I had just recently dropped my collision coverage. My sons leased element was shifting very roughly n 1st gear so we brought it to AutoZone to read the error code. The code P0122 translates into Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Here is the catch, Honda will not sell you just the TPS. They insist that you buy the entire throttle body assembly for over $700. Not wanting to spend all that money I searched the Internet for a TPS and ... Read More

At 41k miles, it finally locked up completely and would not release. It feels like just yesterday when Honda came up with a new trend-setting vehicle named Honda Element in 2003. Element is no longer a new kid on the block, but a grown up "block". It's time to gather some reliability facts from those who have owned Element for some time. So, here I go first, 2003; EX-AWD-Manual Transmission; 75000 miles Repairs: V-Tech Controller Chip - ~$250 @ 60000 miles. (Covered under ... Read More
My 2003 EX ranges from 19.5 to 20.9 MPG with mostly city driving and a fairly aggressive foot. I have on long freeway trips achieved 24+ but I usually drive 75-85mph. Coming from an Isuzu Axiom that got 16mpg and an Isuzu Trooper that got 13-14mpg, I'm very satisfied with the milage I get.
I have a 2003 honda element and my check engine light came on at about 50,000 miles and my mechanic said it was a service light. He did my service and turned it off. I have a 2003 Honda Element EX AWD with 61,852 miles on it. It has been a good vehicle. Recently the yellow engine warning light came on. The replacement cost will be $327.95. With the $85 diagnostic fee this repair ... Read More

I was considering a used Element a while back and the vast majority on the market were 2003 models simply because they're the oldest ones. One of the problems I had was trying to find a FWD manual EX. Out ... Read More
I thought I'd share a listing of updates for the '06 Element- For the 2006 model year, Honda’s versatile and fun-to-drive Element adds the EX-P trim level to its already distinct and diverse lineup. Robr2 - That's right. I think January 2003 was the first full month of sales. Honda has been pushing the Element in several venues. They've had more Element concepts (like the Studio E) than any other vehicle. They also used it for the Bibendum green car challenge. Of course, all that press may be bolstering sales as well.
Juice et al, you are correct: it was the side-test I was inquiring about, not the offset. I suspect, as you do, that the ratings from the IIHS would improve for both the Element and the CRV if Honda were to be more obliging about supplying test cars--as I presume Subaru is (seems a relatively cheap way to get good press). Nonetheless, I still go with the Subaru; I think their ... Read More

After seeing the Element and reading many comments, I think that Honda should come out with a V6 version. This thing only hauls 675 lbs as is! That means it probably couldn't hold 4 guys and their back packs without some serious problems. And for the people wanting the RealTime 4WD option, I would wait for the 5-speed manual version due out June 2003. All this being said, I still want ... Read More
