Reasonably good car, not a fun ride
Purchased new in 2004. It's a good all around car at a good price when new, but it doesn't really excel at anything. V6 is sort of fast, but the transmission is weak (just replaced at 75k) and handling is only average (stock suspension and tire size). Considering the lack of handling, it still rides very rough over cracked pavement has some rattles inside and out. Leather seats are fairly low grade. Carpets and roof liner had some minor defects when new, couldn't be fixed. Stereo is only average at best and was recalled and replaced. I've had a few other minor repairs and the break pads wear quickly. If buying used, look for one with the transmission and stereo already replaced.
2004 Honda Accord 4 cylinder vs. 6 cylinder EX V6
Prior to purchasing our 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 I read Honda was an outstanding car with proven reliability a Quality built car. My personal experience has proven this to be untrue. Unfortunately there is a major difference between the 4 cylinder and the 6 cylinder Honda Accord. The six cylinders are notorious for having transmission problems. We found this out the hard way with my wife breaking down with our three kids in the middle of the highway. I received a call at work engine racing but car not moving help call. Wife and kids abandoned the car and when I got there found the transmission failure. My only comparison for this is to our Toyota which is hands down more reliable. Honda engines are the best but the drive trains are inferior and have had issues with other components like the power steering coil developing a leak.

I would buy it again
It is a great car. It is smooth, quite, quick, with good handling. We have driven ours from coast to coast 5 or 6 times. Extremly reliable with 162,00miles we have had no repairs other than 2 O rings on the power steering pump, which I replaced at a total cost of under $3.00. I had oil changes done every 3,000 miles and transmission serves every 35,000 miles. This car does not use oil and drives like when I bought it.

Excellent Value--Top Notch for the price
In comparing an almost loaded-out model (no nav--couldn't justify the price) to an Acura TL, this car is a better value, no question. You lose 30 hp, no xenon lights, more pedestrian tires and rims, and a slightly less sporty appearance along with a less refined interior. But the upside--you save 7- 10 grand. You still have much better than average performance (on 87 vs. 92 octane fuel), very nice heated leather seats, a killer stereo with XM, and a good driving experience. The car does what you want, when you want it to. I can't think of a better car for the price. And reliability: I've owned 4 Hondas, and never had major issues with any of them.
No Faith in Honda anymore
I have lost faith in the Honda product and the companies willingness to stand behind their name. I have had over 7,000 dollars of repairs that were not covered by warranty. Power steering pump, starter, transmission, stereo, etc.etc.. The transmission going out at 82,000 miles was the last straw. I drove so easy on this car that the tires lasted 81,000 miles and I still haven't replaced the brakes but the transmission failed? Go figure.
