    Yes, it is a characteristic of the truck. Ford designed that model to shake like that. I know because I bought one brand new.     Mine just did the same thing this afternoon. My truck is a 4x2, i had it sent to the Ford dealership I trust. I wil let you know what they tell me tomorrow. I think it is a linkage issue. My truck has never had any transmission sounds prior to this, its just a hard time staying in gear on the console selection.

    Hey had the same problem with mine but it was under warranty. Took it in and they said it was something on the cam ticking. Can't remember honestly what it was called and not near my truck to get paper work out. I have heard a few 04's sound like that besides mine. Also, after the dealer fixed the problem it represented itself again a few months later.

    When starting out my truck seems to buck with light accelerator pressure also when going about 25 to 30mph and holding steady pressure it will buck.sometime when backing up it will buck hard.This does not happen all the time and does not trip the engine soon light. I have had it to the ford dealer 5 times and they can't find the problem and does not show on the memory.

    for what it's worth, I placed my transmission failure complaint with the NHTSA along with 29 others who have already complained about a tranny failure with their 2004 F-150. I believe this is a defective part (an expensive one) that Ford needs to step up to the plate on. I had only 28,000 miles on my well maintained truck before the tranny completely failed.

    My 2004 F150 Crew Cab has a terrible vibration that seems like it is due to the bed vibrating or shaking.     I had a similiar problem with my 2004 F150. With a mere 300 miles on it, the rear started to whine. I took it to the local Lincoln dealer at 800 miles and they had a service bulletin on it. Replaced the ring pinion gear.

    The problem you're describing is most likely NOT the drive train. It's a tire issue. When the truck sits, it creates flat spots on the tires. This is particularly noticeable in the morning. As you drive, the flat spots can fall into sync and create one heck of an oscillation. Once the tires are warm, the problem should lessen.
