timothy, I own a very well maintained 2005 f150. Had a similar vibration, almost like the transmission was failing. I picked up my F150 two weeks ago. After 70 miles on the road I realized I had problems. There are two problems: 1. a constant vibration like I am driving over a cobblestone road not matter at what speed. 2. if I accelerate between 55-60 mph, it bogs down and vibrates almost like a motor mount is lose. I returned my truck for repairs three days after I drove it ... Read More
My biz partner bought a 2005 F250 4x4 Super cab 4 months ago. He has had it to the dealer twice to correct the loss of control and vibration in the front end when going down a dirt road at 30 to 40 mph. He also just about lost it on the highway at 65mph and nearly swerved off the road. Jacked it up and got the wheels off the ground ... Read More
Does anyone know of solutions to a brake problem with my 2004 F-150? From the beginning, and now at 32,000 miles, I have been into the dealer 7 times because of vibrations (warped rotors mostly). This is getting ridiculous. I have been told every line, from brake shorter & harder, to the pads are now harder than the rotors, to...You name it. Well, bottom line is, they're giving up on working ... Read More
I have 2004 F-150 4x4 with 17,500 miles on it. Since June I have been experiencing severe intermittant vibratiion. I traced it to the left rear emergency brake drum not releasing properly. Sometimes after travelling approximately 10 miles, the problem would present itself. Brake drum is very hot to the touch and infrared thermometer readings are approximately 375 degrees on the left rear brake drum. Other brake rotors/drums are approximately 150 ... Read More
My front and rear rotors/pads were replaced on my '04 F150 REG cab with 31K miles. Fortunately, Ford service department has been great! I've read here and at other F150 sites that the original equipment aluminum wheels (F150 2WD 17" cast aluminum) may not allow the proper air flow to cool the brakes. The '04 wheels are not available in "05. I have the 75K ESP and may get a chance ... Read More
I had a similiar problem with my 2004 F150. With a mere 300 miles on it, the rear started to whine. I took it to the local Lincoln dealer at 800 miles and they had a service bulletin on it. Replaced the ring pinion gear.
I have a 2004 F-150 4x4 with about 18,000 miles on it. About a month ago, I noticed a vibration that seemed to occur whenever traveling up or down hills on the highway. I have also noticed it on sections of the interstate where a slight incline is encountered. At times it becomes very violent. I notice the windshield wipers bounce of the windshield. I just had it in at the ... Read More
Hello Everyone! I too experienced the same thing Tom did with his vibrating truck. Mine is an 04 F-150, 5.3L, 19,000 Miles . I have both types of the vibration that is going around. I have the 48-58 MPH constant finger tingle vibration from the steering wheel. It has been back to the dealer 4 times for this type(balanced tires, rotated driveshaft, added counter-balance weight, etc.). No improvement yet. Vibration is ... Read More
I am the owner of a 2005 Ford F150 4X4 with the 5.4L 3V motor. I have owned the truck 3 weeks. The truck developed a tapping noise coming from the passenger side of the motor. The dealer read a technical service bulletin stating there is a seal issue on the cam for some 2004-2005 5.4L motors with the 3 valve motor. A kit was developed to solve the problem. Upon ... My apologies in advance for the lenght of this post, but I could use some assistance: My 2004 F-150 experienced a similar problem posed by lima1. As I was backing out of a parking space, I had to take the truck out of reverse and put it in drive to re-adjust... immediately after the truck was in drive and I let my foot off the brake, the truck surged forward. I ... Read More
Ford just bought back my 2004 F150 FX4 crew cab on Friday with the same problem. Seem they know they have this problem and after 4 repair visits could not fix it.. I took it to the Ford Arbitration and then to my state Attorney Generals office. They offered to give back my warranty money too . Unfortunely i had to buy a 2005 F150 on Friday and its was in ... 2004 150, crew cab, long bed, payload pack, 5.4.. terrible vibration and slack problems. My problems started at 300 miles. First they replaced the tires, then they balanced the new tires again, indexed the drive shaft, etc. The problem is still there. Engine idle problems-cab shakes at idle. Throttle problems-if I push the pedal slightly, the truck surges, if I push it hard it won't spin the tires unless it is ... Read More
Overall, I would have to say that this truck is an impressive truck. But I have not driven the others, only read reviews and I have only had this one for a bit, so time will tell on the quality. But my Biggest gripe, seat design. Bump in the very lower back portion without even cranking up lumbar. Causes aches in my back. Other models don't have this or not as ... Read More
have same problem- I have a 2004 F150 SuperCrew FX4 4X4 3.73 gears fully loaded! - was told it was the lube/grease in the drive shaft itself - some part slides in and out of drive shaft when the torque converter locks up - dealer re-lubed it 2 weeks ago (they needed to order some special grease from Ford) but I noticed a very light rumbble a few days ago - ...
