There is another stupid GM better idea on that car; called the ECM main relay. It is a cheap relay that is operated by the ECM; which can fail and shut everything down. Rock Auto gets $5.28 for the Beck Arnley relay # 2030133; or $27.79 for the equivalent AC Delco relay # 212360. Beck Arnley is usually top quality; but the unit in their photo is labeled "made in Taiwan." ... Read More

It quite running and won't start but turns over. It's a 1.3 4 cyl. with auto trans. It has 64,000 miles and has been a great car. The timing belt is good. It won't fire or inject fuel. I've tried 2 used computers and that made no difference. I'm wondering about the map sensor, temperature sensor or throttle position sensor. It has a new crank shaft position sensor and a new ... I believe this can be done with no problem. However, if your Metro has power steering; it would be best to double check with a Chevy dealer. But if you instead towed the motor home with the Metro; wouldn't you save a whole lot of fuel? However, most motor homes have automatic transmissions; which would mean they can't be flat towed.

Hello, I have a 1999 Chevy Metro LSI (130K miles) with a 4 cylinder engine and a 5-speed transmission. I have experienced a similar problem to what you have described when the weather was cold. Typically, I start and drive the car for a few miles and when I stop at a stop light, the engine starts misfiring (sputtering) when I begin to accelerate. I have discovered that when this happens, ... Read More

Sorry about the delayed response! I would suspect either the ignition control module, or the transistor unit. These items are pictured on Rock Auto's website, once you scroll to the right place.

I've just overhauled the head on my engine. Upon putting it back together engine won't run. Compression: 170, 170, 165, 170. Valve timing lines-up with top and bottom marks per manufacturer's shop manual. Isolated problem to spark - I see healthy spark to both coils on first rotation, then no spark at all anywhere for subsequent crank rotations. Replaced camshaft and crankshaft sensors - no change in spark status. All wiring ... Read More

I beleive the listings will be under Chevrolet or Chevy, not Geo metro at that point. GEO was a joint project and was being dissolved at that point. Be careful of mixing some 1997, 1999,200 parts there are some differences...

Bought an Aveo and no longer have my 1999 Chevrolet Metro... wish I would have kept it now. It was black and garage kept. My Metro was a 3-cyl. with a 5-speed and also had air and a nice cd player....when I said good by to the car it had nearly 40,000 miles on it. I was getting about 36-39 around town and my best was 49.2 on a day trip ... Read More

  • Metro Replacement

    Written by: hbrow00 on Aug 8, 2000 12:46:18 AM

Hi, I stumbled on this topic and was surprised to see people wondering what would be the Metro replacement. But the press surrounding GM's concept vehicles in the 1999 Tokyo Auto Show (in October/99, almost 1 year ago now) pretty much spelled it out. The YGM-1, according to all the official press, will "officially" replace the Metro. Here's a quote from http://www.automobilemag.com/events/571.html "GENERAL MOTORS: The YGM-1 is a preview look at ... Read More

Did you buy your car new or used? If you bought it new that way and have never been in an accident, then I would say you have a lemon. If you bought it as a dealer demo or as a used car with low mileage, then I would say it had been wrecked and poorly repaired (or it's a bought-back lemon). The window sealant and the tire wear and the ... Read More

Alan, Wouldn't you know Suzuki kept the GOOD stuff at home! (ha,ha) All those wonderful options... gee guys, don't cha want to share it with the USofA? Guess not. As for the "dog"-a-matic, it does rev, but it seems like power-to-weight ratio (gears and rear end), are matched. Yet, it does buzz on the freeways. Gas mileage suffers. I've been waiting for Suzuki to come out with a 4-speed auto (and ... Read More

I have some bad news to tell...some kid decided to pull out in front of me today and I managed to hit him in my Metro. Luckily for me (and for him) I was still driveable, but the trooper insisted that no matter what the circumstances, if I rear-ended him, it is my fault. The kid started feeling really bad, but now we are both stuck. He doesn't have insurance anyway ... Read More

The Metro base coupe has only $522 of profit built in, plus the rebate, which was actually $1250 last I checked. The LSi model has $666 of profit, but each one of those options adds a tiny piece of profit. Personal question...why would you buy a new Metro with automatic transmission? They still get 30-34mpg but why not go with the stick? And remember every rental outlet in the country has ... Read More

  • Metro Purchase

Written by: inuvik on Aug 28, 1999 8:11:13 AM

Patty, The current incentive for Metro's is $1250 cash back or 0% financing. This promotion goes through September 30, 1999. Are you a college grad? You also would qualify for a additional $400 rebate. I don't know what the sticker is on your Metro that you are considering purchasing. But I would say that if that price is not at least $2000 less than sticker before any application of rebates then ... Read More
