2007 HHR problems

We bought a new HHR LS on 2007. Somewhere around 36,000 miles started to hear rattling sound front end. Got worse and took car to GM authorized service. Similar to another posting I saw on this blog, both struts were bad as well as steering column shaft and sway bars. GM and service were good and everything was covered under warranty. Understood from service rep that this might be a common problem with the HHR. Sounds like poor manufacturing. So if you have a '07 or '08 be aware you may be encountering some issues in these areas.

There is no comparison between the HHR and the PT Cruiser. The HHR is roomier more economical and better looking. I average 29.5mpg cruising at 75mph in hilly West Virginia. The back is large enough with the floor removed to fit a full size contra(drum corp) standing up. I love my HHR!

GONE TO TEXAS WITH MY SON 3 YEARS AGO BUT EDMONDS KEEPS ASKING ME.....CANNOT CANCELL ACCOUNT..Loved this relieable vehicle so much that I just gave it to my son on his immigration to Dallas Texas from New York City, in Feb 2021. 1600 miles with no problems (then126,000)! This little truck can hold so much. 30mpg on my hi-way trips between NYC & Kingston NY. Easy on maintenance cost, I go to the dealer at main checkups and Monro and Mavis in between. Only complaints; rust at bottom of doors inside. Rotors and wheel bearings wear out every 35,000 miles., though not any more now that I'm in the 100k+ high mileage. I can't figure out how to remove water stains on the upholstery, I use sheepskin covers up front and a blanket in back. A rattle left of driver's dashboard has been there since 11k miles only on gravel roads; now my 2007 HHR is at 121k miles., but still love the truck in Sept.2020. This little truck was 1st owned by my wife's father (11,000 miles) then us til 126000, now my son wants to keep it for another 100,000. He's going to give it a special paint job to dress it up ! Miss it ! He jut did that fancy paint job, new custom grill, new wheel covers, custom front and back bumpers....Wow !

I purchased this car for it's unique look, decent mileage and ability to carry lots of things. It has been a very reliable car. No problems what so ever. The car does get regular maintance but believe me.. I'm not perfect at it. I recommend this car to anyone just don't mind the car being called 'PT Cruiser' or the white bus. My Fiance hated this car in the beginning and he's a car enthusiast. If you asked him now, he would be hard pressed not to recommend it either. It has been more reliable than his car and he takes care of his own car like a baby!

Bought my used HHR in 2012, with 14k miles on it. Love the head room, and cargo space. Great on gas. Love the look. My husband is 6ft 3 in and has plenty of room. This is a wonderful car for travel, both in comfort and riding. It is awesome, and fun to drive. Its not a "powerhouse", but will get up and go. Love the fold down seats in the back. Took a while to get use to the window controls on the console, but like it now. My one and only complaint is the cup holders are located in an awkward place. Love the functionality of all the gadgets (radio, climate control, cruise control, etc...), very accessable, and easy to operate. Great for a family with children, from infant to older teens.
