Re: 2006 Rendezvous AWD, Battery & Gas light problems [smag73]

I have been having this problem with my 2007 Buick Rendezvous since it was brand new. I have had it in three different dealers and day after day of the car being in the shop and no one could find the problem. I even had a fire under the dash where they found burnt wires. When I took it in I asked them to show me before they fixed it so I ... Read More
Just my 2 cents. Back in 2007, I let my zero-problems @ 50K 2004 leased Rondy go. I've regretted it ever since. Not only was it the most useful, reliable vehicle I've ever owned, there was, and still is, no real replacement available in the new car market. Small on the outside, huge [=Tahoe] on the inside; good on gas [I averaged 22mpg; over 30mpg on the road] and full of ... Read More
I purchased a used 2002 Buick Rendezvous in April of 2004 from a GM dealership (above). It is an AWD V6 CXL SUV. My car manual specifically states not to use anything other than DexCool antifreeze. I was afraid to use anything else because I thought using the \"wrong\" antifreeze might damage my engine. ??!! I never received any notice from GM or the Dealership or Dexcool regarding the problems on ... Read More

Rendezvoodoo is so true. I had so much money in mine at the $10,000 mark I thought I would keep it too, but then the AWD went out, the Power Lock Breaks, then The Torque converter stuck on on, then both the solenoids (?), and it was slamming into gear at 21, 30, and 41 miles an hour. I thought then I would have to pay for a new trans, so ... Read More
Nazara55- Sorry you have had all these problems. I grew up in a "Buick" family and never saw that many issues on all the cars put together, much less one. I feel very bad for the stress it's caused you. We are also more or less happy owners. We bought our 2003 Rendezvous from a dealer in Sept w/73,000 miles. We didn't find this website until after the purchase and we were both very worried. HOWEVER, we used what we read on this site and knew what to look for. We did have to replace the BCM unit shortly after purchasing but my husband ordered the part straight from Buick, ordered ... That's good to hear - then your attorney got it wrapped up in about 3 weeks. That's pretty fast (not counting the year or two you had to deal with the whole thing!). Having the BBB decision in your favor must have helped. For those arriving late, here's Onebrightlady's summary post about her problems: onebritelady, "Buick Rendezvous Maintenance and Repair" #1854, 12 Sep 2007 5:43 pm
Ok - let's chat about reviews. 2007 against 2007 (apples against apples). Forbes gives the 2007 RDV the worst rating. Actually, #1 worst rating of 20 other vehicles. To me, that's a 5 our of 5. (assuming 5 is the worst). Worst is enough ammunition to "pull her off the road". NHTSA Ratings (on Edmonds own board) gives the 2007 RDV a 3 out of 5. steve, it appears your linked article is different than the one I linked. Yours shows the methodology used and may answer some of spike 99's questions. Basically in the article you linked, it says they are using SCORE's methodolgy and evaluation, not only IIHS and NHSTA. Hope that helps you spike99. I should have said "make their SUVs safer." "Alan Adler, GM's safety spokesman, confirms that it's important to look at a wide range of information. "You've identified two technologies [side airbags and stability control] that are important, and we have rollout plans for both," says Adler." link When it rains, it pours: markphil, "2002 Buick Rendezvous Class Action?" #68, 30 Sep 2007 7:47 pm

Interesting post.... For the last 30 minutes, I've read the many views on the board. re: http://www.edmunds.com/buick/rendezvous/2007/consumerreview.html Nobody mentions "high roll over" risk. Wonder how the author of this post can support their details. If it was that bad, MTO/DOT would be pulling the RDV off the road. Or, insurance companies would triple their rates (on the RDV). Wonder how many folks beliw the rating in this article??? .
according to forbes, 3 out of 5 rating is "abysmal"
Written by: hawaiianguy on Sep 27, 2007 10:38:42 PM
from the first link: "The minivan-based Rendezvous helped bring new customers to Buick dealerships, thanks to the Tiger Woods ad campaign behind it. But after the 2007 model year, the Rendezvous, with its abysmal three-star (out of five) NHTSA frontal impact rating, is history, to be replaced by the 2008 Buick Enclave, a crossover SUV with a full roster of standard safety equipment."

So it's just another thing to look at. And also again, I never said I was going ... Read More

I recently got a new 2007 Rendezvous with a factory installed navigation system. The sticker stated that it comes with a 6-disc changer. As far as I can tell it's going to be a complete refit of the entire GM V6 series. GM has been using the same V6 design since, I think, the 60's. Overhead valves are going to be a thing of the past coming about 2006 fot GM which will be a good thing. Buick will also be introducing a minivan in 2007 since the Olds van will be history. Signs ...
