Audis--like every other car need a transmission fluid drain/refill every 30,000 miles or so. I used to drive a "00 A6 2.7T and the dealer said the fluid in the tiptronic transmission is LIFETIME. Then went and consulted with an experienced Audi independent and he claims that w/o fluid changes, he is regularly seeing tranny failures at the 70,000 mile+ mark because of worn out fluid. I don't see how any ... Read More

Wait a minute...the service tech told you the transmission is fairly consistent for a mere 80k miles??? I would be appalled to hear that personally. I've had a Hyundai Sonata I put 105k miles on with no tranny problems and a current Azera with just over 81k miles...again, no tranny issues. For Audi to be to technologically superior to a company like Hyundai...I would be scared to hear "fairly consistent for ... Read More

Hi Bill, I'm providing a link to a Wikipedia article on CVT (continues Variable Transmission) from Audi AG. Please take a few minutes to read it. When you get to the part about which Audi A6 models this transmission will work with, please note what it says about Quattro's. For your information "FWD" is different than " All Wheel drive" the Audi A6 Quattro having the later. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multitronic Is your A6 ... Read More

Re: 2007 Infiniti G35x VS. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro [thenatureboy]
Written by: kring5 on Jul 2, 2007 1:50:49 PM
Those two cars don't compare very well. the Audi is nearly $10K more then the G35. it's considerably more of a car the the infiniti. But what comes with the Audi is mediocre reliability and a very poor resale value. If price isn't an issue I would take the A6 over the G35 as long as the Audi comes with a full warranty. Audi's are also tanks (in a good way) ... Read More

Well, for one, I'd knock Quattro of your Pro list. I think the G35x has much more to offer here. It's RWD when the roads are clear, offering incredible handling, and AWD when you need it. In "Snow Mode", it pushes 50% of it's power to the front wheels, making it great in the snow, so no worries there. As for mileage, the Audi may get a slight nod, but it's ... Read More

2007 Infiniti G35x VS. 2006 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro
Written by: thenatureboy on Jun 28, 2007 8:34:26 PM
Pretty much narrowed down to these 2 vehicles, but would like to hear comments from people who tried either vehicle or just looking for some feedback in general. I would be comparing a 07 G35x with the premium pack versus a 06 A6 3.2 Quattro with the premium and convenience pack. Might be a little gap in the pricing department, but not much. From what I've noticed so far, Pros of ... Read More

Hi lyndonw. You should be able to get this car for waaaaay below dealer invoice. Audi is currently providing $5,000 dealer cash on leftover 2006 A6 Sedans. So right there you are at $5,000 or so below invoice. Then you have to add an additional discount for the thousands of miles that this car has on it. I personally would want to get this car for at least $7,000 below invoice ... Read More

Re: Lease an A6 now or wait till March [dras]

Hi dras. This isn't a naive question at all. Unfortunately, it is already too late to get a great deal on lease of a 2006 Audi. Not only has Audi stopped providing lease support on 2006 models, but it even cut its dealer cash on them by $1,000 this month. You would be much better off waiting to lease a 2007 model in March of next year. Not only is is ... Read More

Check out some of the earlier posts. 2006 A6s have been selling brand new for $6000 under invoice. I bought a 4.2 A6 for about $10k below MSRP and they were offering the same deal on the 3.2s. This was Audi of Alexandria in VA. You may want to shop around more, unless this is all that's left and you're hooked. By the way, I have about 2000 miles on mine ... Read More
