I also own a 2006 Audi Avant A6. Something drained my battery back in December and it locked my key in the ignition. I was able to charge enough to get it started but my MMI went blank. The dealer replaced a $1,500 Boze module, and a module for a tail light which I was not having any trouble with. When I picked it up I noticed the radio did not ... Read More
Well, it is very interesting to read about all of these Audi CVT transmission problems happening "just out of warrantly". I bought a 2004 Audi A6 in 2006 with about 27k miles. It seemed like a pretty safe bet to get a low-mileage Audi for under $19k with the balance of the manufacturer's warranty in place. Around 46-48k miles, I noticed a lunge when slowing down and the transmission would seem ... Read More

I also have an Audi 2006 A6 and yesterday I experienced the exact same problem you had. Radio, CD, Nav, phone and MMI do not put out any sound. The mute icon appears, but I am unable to unmute or access the sound menu when in radio or CD. What was wrong / what needed to be repaired or replaced? Thank you
I posted a while back some issues with my wife's 2005 A6. Summary: Slow tight turns, such as into a garage or parking space caused a low vibration that shook the entire vehicle. My Jeep with lockers turned quieter and smoother. Despite efforts with replacing tires and such, the dealership continually told us "working as expected". Well, don't let me loose on the Internet. :) I found several TSB's that addressed ... Read More
I was also torn between these two cars. It came down to reliability and hp for me. This car is my daily driver and I cannot afford to have it in the shop at all. Therefore the Audi was out. Hi Guys, Thanks for your replys to my 2006 Audi A6 vibration issues. The good news is I have not bought this car yet and probably won't. Audis--like every other car need a transmission fluid drain/refill every 30,000 miles or so. I used to drive a "00 A6 2.7T and the dealer said the fluid in the tiptronic transmission is LIFETIME. That's a good question, Coleman97. I don't think that there really is any specific period of time that a dealer will keep a vehicle before trying to send it to auction. HI MEADOEL, Audi is giving the dealerships $4,000 for selling a 2007 A6. When you figure the profit , difference between the MSRP and invoice, over $4,000. Got this elsewhere. Consumer Reports annual owner satisfaction survey (April 2006) asks OWNERS to rate their satisfaction with their own cars. The question they ask for this survey, as always, is: "Would you buy this car again?" The Survey lists the following cars (Shown next to the percentage of owners who would buy it again.) * 92% - Infiniti M35/M45 * 89% - Lexus GS300/GS430 * 89% - Lexus LS430 * ... Read More
I have seen posting from people about buying the 2006 Audi A6 for ~9000 less than MSRP. I live in CT and my local dealer is offering one at ~7200 less than MSRP (sunroof, premium, Nav, heater steering, 18" tires). Does anyone have experience in getting a better price in CT/NY/NJ area ?
Here's the information that you're looking for, petrie3. You never mentioned how long you want to lease this car for and what sort of mileage allowance you need, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Audi Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 ... Read More
Hey Charlie. I don't know if you have leased yet or not, but for the month of September Audi decided to stop providing lease support on 2006 models. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because the dealer cash that it is providing on them was not compatible with Audi Financial Services' special lease money factors anyhow. Your best bet is to lease this car through an independent bank and use the ... Read More
About a month ago, I began researching and test-driving cars in the category being discussed on this forum. Decided to sign up and share my experience. So, here goes… Sidebar … CR and JD Powers didn’t seem like much help, since they show that (to take the recently release JD Powers Dependability study as an example) 2004 Lexus owners typically had one or two problems; 2004 Cadillac, BMW, Infiniti, Jaguar, and ... Bought a brand new Audi A6 2006 quattro less than a month ago. After 2 weeks EPS lit up so I checked the tire pressure and added some air. The following morning while driving in the parking with the EPS light still on the car suddenly shut down completely and stopped in the middle of the ride. Dealer's service kept it for 5 days and told me that had happened off ... Read More
"I presume that 46% residual is an ALG number, which is what most private banks use. Shows you what residual support by a manufacturer is worth." Yes... Audi is either being realistic or they are helping to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. ALG's annual awards for brands holding their value went like this for 2005 ... Luxury Brand Residual Value Rankings BMW Lexus Land Rover Mercedes-Benz Acura Infiniti ...in that order. "Below ... Read More
"Does anyone know the residual factor and money factor for private bank lease? Like US bank?" 36 months and 12K/yr MF for 2006 A6 3.2 Quattro at U.S. Bank is .0024 Residual is 46%.
"This dealer cash is not compatible with Audi Financial Services leases, so many dealers are running consumers' leases through independent banks to take advantage of it." Car_Man, my first dealing with this issue with an Audi dealer in California was a choice between (1) subtracting the $6000, along with other discounts, from MSRP, and going through Bank of the West (where MF = 5.4% interest rate = .00225) versus (2) foregoing ... Maybe you misread my post. I think the RL is better from a depreciation standpoint than most any domestic, not worse. Kelly Blue Book says, "The 2006 RL is expected to have a higher than average residual value after 5 years. Less than the M35 but higher than the Audi A6 and the Cadillac STS". This is hardly the worst in class.
Hi I'm interested in taking the $6,000 in dealer cash Audi is offering on the 2006 A6 3.2s and then leasing through an independent bank, since you can't take both the cash and get special lease deals from Audi. Anybody been able to find a bank which offers decent residuals and money factors for this car? I'm looking for numbers on 36 months/15,000 miles. Thanks!
There's a discussion forum specifically for this topic. X3 vs RDX -- just go to BMW, X3 and klik klik there it is. The RDX with all options will come in $10,000 less than a comparably equipped X3. It merits some attention for that fact alone. Of course if it drives and rides like it costs $10,000 less, well then it isn't much competition for the X3. Here in LPS land, ... Read More
I purchased my 2006 A6 Avant 3.2 in November of 05 as a special order. It topped out around $68,000 and is completely loaded including premium sports seats, 18" BBS Special rim and tire package, bluetooth, adaptive air suspension, adaptive cruise control, nav, wooden steering wheel and gear shft, automatic tailgate, keyless entry, sunroof, and your standard Audi premium and technology packages. I have about 9100 trouble-free miles on it as ... Read More
