I loved my 2003 Audi A6 - except for the cost of repair. $235.00 for a tire? $700.00 for the driver's side sun visor? I sold it after 4 years. You asked what to look for: A Ford or Chevy.

Morning Qfixer: Sorry, I don't know where the Heater control values are, hopefully within reach. Also check the Fuse listing in your manual if you have one, see if those heater controls are fused, that would be a really easy fix. Your heater controls are those on my 2005 model, it could be that they are the same and have not changed since 2003, but don't know. JKAUDIA6

Thanks JKAudiA6. I am fairly sure that the coolant system has no leak but I will follow your directions and check it to make sure. The engine temperature gauge in the dash reaches operating temperature and stay in the normal range in the middle section which it has always done. This A6 has dual digital heater controls for driver and passenger. These are operated by + or - and you can ... Read More

I'm going to assume all of your heating vents are functional and you don't have any moisture under the dash on the floor area from a leaking Heater radiator or control value if it's under the dash. a.The first thing to check is the water/coolant level in ... 2003 Audi A6 blows cold air
Written by: qfixer on Dec 7, 2009 3:03:15 PM
My 2003 Audi A6 blows cold air even when the engine is hot. The only way that I can get any warm air in the cabin is to set both thermostats to Hi, have the defrost on front window and have the heater in econ mode. Even then it only blows moderately warm air and not enough to heat the cabin. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Audi and every other manufacturer are just plain wrong about "lifetime" fluids. All fluids break down eventually. Transmission fluid is transmission fluid, have it changed every 40 to 50,000 miles on the Audi. I now drive a Mazda Cx-7, and have the tranny fluid changed every 20,000 or so. Cheap insurance.

That may be so in the 2.7 T, but with the 3.0 a different transmission is used. This is information direct from Audi Corp. I will soon find out what happens around the 70k mile mark as my '04 A6 3.0 Quattro has close to 68k miles on it currently. Owned the same car for 6 and a half years. Great driving and fantastic interior. Poor electrical and mechanical quality. Two sets of front rotors/pads, turbo went out at 98000 miles, even with mobilone oil changes every 5,000 from new. The car would have bankrupted me w/o the extended warranty plan. Stay away from Audi turbos at all costs! Have plenty of info for anyone considering or driving the 2.7T.

Only issue was the rear brake pads needed to be replaced and the rear speakers aren't working. You are correcto-mundo! The A6 has Servotronic, the slower you go the greater the boost. Servotronic II by ZF apparently (since I have not driven a car with this) changes both the force required based on road speed and the reaction to steering wheel motions (also releated to road speed.) Audi, BMW, Cadillac, LandRover, Volvo all use Servotronic, some applications (in some models) use Servotronic II. I think I would like ... Read More

What does the ranking of "performance on slippery roads" have to do with the [broader] "safety" trait? I would assume if #1 was safety that your current #4 would have been your #2, that is.
