Used 2022 Volvo XC60 Consumer Reviews
Beautiful, but not reliable
First, the pros: Extremely comfortable & luxurious seating. Love the heated/ventilated seats & heated steering wheel for my painful hands. It is very quiet. The arrangement of the AC vents prevents you from having frozen hands as a driver and the vent in the rear door column provides extra vents to back seat passengers. It is the most comfortable car I've ever driven on a roadtrip. The interior is lovely, if minimalistic. It offers Apple Car Play, which I like, although it is a wired connection. When the Google map app works, it is decent. Having owned Acura, Infinit & BMW(2016 - newest of these) vehicles, all of their navigation and infotainment systems were far superior. Now for the cons: the rotors had to be replaced before I even took the car home because braking was jittery. I was informed that this is extremely common due to shipping from overseas. Hmmmm. I've had cars that were made overseas and didn't need new rotors til around 70K miles. Constant problems with the Google Assistant/infotainment system, which when it malfunctions, can shut off your AC/heat. Then, the GPS signal is randomly lost. You have to keep rebooting the system, which may temporarily fix the problems, but they always return. One could also argue it is unreasonable for a driver to have to reboot the system that controls the whole car frequently while driving. I'm certainly discussing this with Volvo. Mine has been back to the dealer twice in the first 2 months of ownership and will be going again next week (11 weeks from purchase) - all for problems related to Google Assistant (an Android system). To adjust the temperature, you have to use the touch screen for it to actually adjust, and it only adjusts by 2 degrees, not single digits. Voice control doesn't work. Too many controls realistically must go through the touch screen because the voice control is unreliable. Having a few buttons would solve that issue & be safer. Volvo's strength is not tech. Their Google Assistant system is enough to ruin what would otherwise be a wonderful car. I do not recommend any Volvo that contains Google Assistant. UPDATE: I pursued the Lemon Law because the Google/Android system was constantly malfunctioning to the point I didn’t feel safe driving the car. It would require multiple reboots, during which you lose all controls, so it is necessary to pull off the road. Sometimes I had to reboot multiple times plus restart the car. The backup camera would freeze. It auto-braked inappropriately, which could have caused a crash. When the system functions as it should, it is exceptional. I am an early-adopter of new tech and love it in cars. If Volvo ever gets the system to function properly and consistently, it will be fantastic. The dealership had my car almost 2 of the 5 months I had it. I believe they really tried to fix it. Volvo bought the car back from me, for which I am grateful. We settled before arbitration. I had planned to get a BMW X3 to replace the Volvo, but walked away as soon as I learned they are also incorporating a Google/Android system & eliminating manual controls. When a screen alone controls everything, you end up with a brick when it malfunctions. Voice control stops working when the Google system fails. I won’t buy another car that doesn’t have at least some key controls as buttons/knobs.

So many problems with the software....
I am very disappointed with my new 2022 Volvo XC60. I was not told about these "problems" until after I wrote a check for the vehicle and was ready to drive off the lot. Most disappointing is the 360 camera. I only wanted a car with the 360 view like my previous Audi. When you are backing up the only camera that comes on is the rear camera. It's a split screen so I should have the rear camera on the bottom portion and the 360 on the top portion of the screen but it is blank. You must manually turn on the 360 when you need it the most. This does not make the vehicle safer! I have to take my eyes off of the road and figure out how to get the 360 every time I want to back into a parking space etc. There is still no AppleCarPlay. I was told when I purchased in September that it would be about 2 months before the software upgrade would support AppleCarPlay. Still not there as of today. I just got a software upgrade around the holidays that finally gave me satellite radio. There is a software bug that requires me to reboot the entire info system almost every time I use the satellite radio. The problem is that the banner or title for which music is being played gets stuck on the last song I listened to and when you change stations, you get the same song displayed. You must reboot to fix. That takes several minutes and the air conditioning stops working as well. Quite frankly, they should start paying me for the services they offer but do not have. I am very frustrated as I paid a lot of money for this "luxury" car. Will probably never buy another Volvo. So very disappointed. All these problems makes it unsafe to drive because I am constantly trying to fix or figure out a fix for one problem or another. Most all of these problems should be a simple software fix but Volvo is not on top of it.

Infotainment System Improved, but Still Needs Work
Volvo has clearly made an effort to work with Google to improve the content available through its new infotainment system, which has provided more capabilities than initially delivered and led to an improvement in our overall rating. A 5-star car otherwise, the infotainment system still is somewhat quirky and frequently counter-intuitive. Google Navigation works very well, but the satellite radio / app functions still require much more attention than safe-driving protocols should warrant. For an automobile company as safety-conscious as Volvo, these deficiencies are especially troublesome and disturbing. Thus, even though we can upgrade our overall rating of this car to a 4 (from a 2 previously), there is still a good bit of room for improvement. Though we love Volvo’s subscription program and loved our 2021 XC60, the 2022 model substitutes a Google-developed infotainment system for the proprietary Volvo system in its earlier models … and it is a disaster! No SiriusXM, no Apple CarPlay, and extremely limited selections to add Apps from the Google Play Store (no Amazon Music, no Overcast podcasting app, and who knows what else). One has to wonder how such obvious shortcomings were allowed to proceed into production. Hasn’t Volvo ever heard of “back-testing” its changes? And what’s worse is that when I queried BOTH the dealership and Volvo Customer Service on when these shortcomings would be addressed, their answers were the same: “we don’t know”. Now, to be sure, I should have done better research before we started a new subscription, but that’s MY problem … but if I can help others avoid my same mistake, that will be some consolation.

Don’t buy
Constant electronic issues. Google infotainment is junk. Cars dash is lit up like a Christmas tree with only 3k miles on it. Dealer promised excellent customer support before purchasing. We never received a return phone call for a service appointment. Today the wipers failed. Another light added to take in for service. I didn’t buy a new car for the purpose of running back and forth to the dealer for repairs.

Stay away from this car
I owned more than 10 Volvo's and loved them. Just putchased a new 20222 B5 AWD and drove it for 5 days. It has been in the shop for 3 weeks while the dealer trys to figure why all communications stopped working, inlcuding all infotainment features. They car can not be driven or accpet any software updates.
Expected more
Initially went for a Volvo from their reputation of reliability and quality . Couldnt be further from what i recieved . The first 2022 xc60 B5 i purchased had a vibration at highway speed and crooked steering wheel . Brought in for diagnosis , recommended tires to be replaced . Vibration still present after new tires installed . Brought back again to diagnose further . No luck . Said i didnt want and traded in on another brand new 2022 B6 xc60 r design . Had for 6 days when it locked me out and vehicle wouldnt recognize key fobs . Brought back again ,they discovered issue with the antenna/transceiver battery going dead and not communicating with vehicle shop had vehicle for 6 days). Upon picking up vehicle would not pair with volvo app allowing command start etc . Brought back again to finally resolve issue ( tech had to trick system in order to recognize app . After driving for a few weeks a vibration has been progressively getting worse . Starting at 70km all the way to highway speed . Can be felt on steering wheel and in the floor/foot pedals . To top it off has a rattle in the dash on cold mornings . Steering wheel crooked . Wind noise is excessive for so called luxury vehicle . Infotainment is glitchy and freezes up . The vehicle does look nice and seats are comfortable in R design (not the momentum ) But the lack of quality is extremely disappointing especially for this price . Far too many visits to the dealership in such a short time . Certainly wont be keeping

Malfunctioning electrical system
Purchased a 2022 Volvo XC60 Momentum B5 AWD on December 8 2021. I noticed the car makes clicking noises randomly even when it is supposed to be off. First had to take the car back to the dealer on January 13, 2022 because a park assist alarm started alarming on the evening of January 12 and would not stop alarming unless the car was turned off and then locked from the outside. This was resolved on January 13 after over 2 hours at the dealership. On January 19, 2022, I found the car to be completely dead, sitting in my parking lot. It would not respond to either key or the app, so I had to open the manual key to get in to the car. It would not start, did not respond at all electrically. I had to spend half of the day attempting to get a tow truck from Volvo roadside assist to take the car to the dealership. I also needed a loaner car because I work 500 miles away (as a nurse at a hospital) and had to be at work the next afternoon. I was given a sedan, 1 year older than the car I purchased and with less features. 1 week later, today, the dealer is still working with volvo technical support to resolve issues which are coming and going while the car is in their service department. They state it had no problems when they first started it there, but "is having problems now." I am now getting a 2020 SUV as a loaner from them because I need a bigger vehicle. Neither loaner is equivalent to the car I purchased brand new. I unfortunately just read many reviews on Edmunds.com detailing similar electrical problems that persist with this specific car. I am a single woman who drives long distances to work and could be in danger if I'm in an electrically unreliable car that might just not start. It isn't safe for me to wait for this to happen twice for lemon law. I've made 1 payment on this car. They bought my perfectly working Toyota 4runner from me as a trade and have since sold it. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and will be going to talk to the general manager of Volvo San Diego tomorrow, then on to hiring an attorney/filing a complaint with the attorney general.

Not what I expected
I have the 2022 Volvo XC60 Momentum AWD and it honestly was nice for the first few days. It rides well and is really quiet. I feel safe in the car for the most part. Sound system is okay and the car is nice on the inside. However, I have less than 1000 miles on my car and im already having electrica issues. It clicks when it's off and my infotainment system seems to shut down randomly and honestly, it's not what I was expecting. Im pretty disappointed since I now have to take it in to get it checked out and fixed which is going to kill time and it's not that I have a lot to spear right now during the holidays. If i wanted electrical issues, I would have purchased a BMW. If it keeps happening then I might just return the car and get something more reliable like an Acura or Lexus.

So dissatisfied!
Purchased this car, only 7 miles on it. I had it for 3 days before infotainment system went out. Volvo dealer replaced that, then picked up the car and had for only 4 days and the brake system failed almost resulting in an accident. Car is back at Volvo dealership. It’s my 1st Volvo so can’t speak from past experience but for a $60k vehicle, that’s brand new, I’m extremely frustrated and very disappointed. Buyers remorse to say the least.

Refused to start
I hate giving a bad review about my own car, but the problem I just experienced was too concerning and I feel obliged to make it public. It’s true the information system in this car is too premature. Absence of “apple car play” is embarrassing. But still, I felt the car was beautiful and it drove so nicely, until it stopped starting. The car was trying to update the software on one night, so as instructed, I locked the car and let it perform its updating. Next morning, I received an email from Volvo, indicating “the software update failed. Do this and do that”. I went to the car and followed the instruction. I noticed the car refused to start no matter what. I couldn’t lock the door from outside, either. The car was totally dead with some alert indicator that resembles a car with an exclamation mark in the dashboard. Volvo decided to tow the car, but the whole process took 12 hours because the car was parked in the city garage. After 2 days, I got a phone call that the car was fixed and ready to be picked up. I don’t know exactly what caused the problem. Volvo didn’t give me any detail. What’s concerning is that this problem seems to be affecting other XC60 owners globally. Suddenly the car stops starting - it’s a huge deal, I think, especially when it is a brand-new car. Volvo used to be much more dependable, but I’m not sure any longer.

Infotainment system is terrible … spoils the car
We recently traded in our old XC60 (which we loved!) for a new 2022 version and fee like we took a giant step back. New car has been plagued with Infotainment issues since Day 1. Dealer also promised us Apple CarPlay would be available by end of the year … which is isn’t … which I view as misleading sales practice, Or just an outright lie. Am incredibly disappointed in Volvo for releasing an upgrade before it is ready. Such a foolish way to destroy customer loyalty (this will be our last Volvo) and tarnish the brand.

Worst decision we ever made
Bought the 2022 xc60 for its reliability and safety features. I’ve owned this car only 3 months and so far it’s been in the shop 4 different times. Could have been more than that but I work full time and don’t have the time to bring it in on a weekly basis. So far the following has gone wrong: voice to call stopped working, radio stopped working, gps is unreliable and sometimes works but sometimes does not, heated seats turn up and down randomly, heat stopped working (which caused my car to fog up and was no longer safe to drive), battery drained entirely because car was randomly turning on and off flashing it’s lights every 8 minutes or so, tire pressure monitoring light came on but nothing actually wrong with the tires, the car locked my keys IN the car on its own too. Do not buy an xc60 in this model year. A girl at the service department told me that Volvo had a meeting with their sales people this week that included 100 slides of things that have gone wrong and how to speak to the customer about it. Absolutely appalled that they even sell these cars. Volvo should be reported to the better business bureau

Nothing but problems
I leased an xc60 light hybrid in March. I want a full ev but am waiting for one with a larger range. It is my first Volvo. I have previously had 3 Lexus vehicles. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle and completely regret switching brands. Most problems are electrical in nature including complete electrical failure, no hvac and malfunctioning or nonfunctional infotainment system. I was visiting family this weekend and it snowed and became very cold. I had to drive home with no heat and had to keep pulling over to defog the windows. Very dangerous. I decided on a Volvo as I thought it was a safe vehicle as my son is starting to drive next year. I will need to try to get out of my lease early as I can no longer deal with all of the issues I’ve had. Very upsetting.

Very disappointed
I recently purchased the 2022 XC60, literally on my way home form the dealership the Infotainment System went out, took the car back the following day after being in service all day I picked up the car and within a few hours the system went out again. I traded in my 2016 Acura for the Volvo and I 100% regret this decision, while the Volvo is a beautiful car the issues outweigh the beauty/comfort.
How was this car approved for sale?
Owned my 2022 XC60 for 3 months. Of that 3 months, it has been in shop 5 times. Everything seems to malfunction at one time or another. From talking with mechanics and advisors, I am far from the only one having these issues. This will probably be the last Volvo I ever purchase. What a let down.

Not Happy
I previously owned three Volvos. 2014 xc70, 2018 xc60 Inscription, and currently 2022 xc60 B5 Inscription. The 2022 is not a luxury SUV. It does not have Android Auto, Apple Car Play, all I get is a promise that some time in the future It will be installed. The “Hay Google” app is absolutely useless. All it does is control the inside temperature absolutely nothing else. No control over the Google map, no control over SXM. No am radio. I had a 48 Plymouth with that. The 2018 Volvo had a smart phone app that had a travel diary, map that showed where the car is located, sounded horn and blinked lights to locate car. This Volvo has none of these. On the left side of the steering wheel is a right and left arrow. I asked the dealer what they were for. There response was absolutely nothing. Volvo should never have sold this car before everything worked. My mistake for buying this car. Knowing what I know now I would not have purchased the so-called luxury vehicle. 2/23/22: This is my third XC Volvo. Not happy with Google system. As of today after three months of being promised android auto, Apple CarPlay and a host of updates with connection to my smart phone nothing has happened. I bought the top of the line inscription and didn’t get all of the electronics that was in my 2018 XC 60. Very disappointing.

Also Disappointed and Dismayed
My wife purchased an XC60 in early September. We have been loyal Volvo customers for years. For the following reasons, we would not recommend the 2022 model at this time. We believe radio access in the infotainment system is feeble. Although promoted with Sirius XM, the app is not yet available. The radio.com app has an unforgiving perpetual error message, making it impossible to listen to local am radio stations/news/traffic. Apple CarPlay is not yet available. In our opinion, rather than enhancing safety, the infotainment system as presently configured makes driving hazardous. We have communicated with our dealer and Volvo about these issues, but updates to the infotainment system have not been forthcoming to date.
Infotainment Disaster
The Volvo XC60 is a beautiful SUV but the technology is severely lacking. If you have a Android phone, don't even bother buying this vehicle as they don't have compatible software for it. They keep pushing it off month to month. My wife has an IPhone and it constantly disconnects and the system doesn't recognize her password. Every time we have to reset her password we then have to go through issues with her iPhone account thinking someone is trying to hack her account. How is it that my daughter's $26,000 kia has a better infotainment system than Volvo at $54,000?

The car is a danger hazard
My prior car was a Volvo XC60 and it was great. I bought the car and the next day issues started. Car would not start, door lock sensors do not work, rear gate lift does not work, the GPS is awful - malfunctions and freezes, the collision avoidance assist system will go on making it impossible to steer the vehicle - happened on the freeway and almost had an accident. Radio randomly turns off, phone wont sync. I have had it in for service 6 times in 6 months and the service advisor said it a problem and many customers are having the same issues. Do not buy.

Worst car ever
I bought the car in August 2021 and in the first 3 months I was at the dealership getting work done as the battery was overheating and not working (a part had fried), the safety system just randomly shut down, and heat did not work. Now the emission system is broken and the battery won't fully charge and car needs to go back in for service. The car is quiet as long as battery works. When using gas the car is so loud you can barely hear the music playing on the radio if you are on the highway. I will NEVER buy or recommend a Volvo ever again. These 2022 recharge cars should have been recalled.

First car I've ever regretted purchasing
Not really sure where to begin. Check engine light came on within the first week. Apparently a software issue. Infotainment feels completely unfinished. Don't let the 'Google OS' name fool you, there is NO Apple CarPlay OR AndroidAuto. When not using maps, the gauge cluster is a massive black hole with virtually no info other than speed. No temp, tire pressure, etc. 360 camera is extremely slow and doesn't always work correctly. Sometimes I'll tap on the front camera to come up and it will take 15 seconds or so. Also, the front two-hook cover fell off while I was on the highway. Nothing like paying $60k for a car that has pieces falling off. Worst of all, the screens (both infotainment and dash) will randomly crash. Luckily they reboot quickly, but who on earth likes to drive without knowing how fast they are going?! Extremely dangerous, especially from a car brand built on safety. Volvo messed up big time releasing this well before it was ready. If Over-The-Air updates don't fix these software issues by the end of 2022, I'll be trading this in for another brand.

Great Car but the Infotainment System is terrible
I'll echo the other reviews. The lack of Apple CarPlay and sirius xm, to me, seems like an egregious oversight. You could probably find vehicle with similar performance and safety features with a much better infotainment system. I've called Volvo customer service and they've said both Apple CarPlay and Sirius XM will come out but have no idea when. Very disappointing. My advice would be look at competitors before buying any of the 2022 XC models.
SO SORRY
The infotainment center in this car is a literal nightmare. The entire electric system tied to this system is such a nightmare. I took my new car back the very next day. Unable to function with it. I spent hours over the next few days going back to the sales team to fix the issues, to no avail...I then took it into the service department three times and am suppose to pick it up today two full months later and after nearly a month in service. The Infotainment center was replaced twice...a module in the antenna system was also replaced as they attempted to repair the issues. The customer service of Volvo in San Fransisco was impossible at best and the service manager sent me an email telling me that when I had a "LEGITIMATE" problem to come back. I am so sad that I believed Volvo was a good car with a good reputation...my mistake!

EVEN IF YOU DIE ON A HWY, THEY WONT HELP
2 month old, brand new Volvo xc60 2022 model. On the first weekend trip, the engine heated up suddenly and could get weird burning smell from bonnet. Had to stop the car to allow time to cool down. Yesterday, on our way from Toronto to Montreal, broke down in the middle of the highway with no prior indication, i.e. a sudden msg on the dashboard "12V battery critical fault, stop safely" + "turtle sign", "deteriorated performance". Somehow maneuvered the car onto the side of the highway and then the nightmare began. NOTE: This was at 7.40pm EST, nearing sunset. My husband is driving and I am 6 months pregnant. We are stranded in a lonely stretch on Hwy 401E, past Port Hope. 1. Called Dealership: They advised switch off and restart as it may a simple software glitch. Should be safe to continue driving - Tried that but the car won't move anymore. 2. Called "ON CALL" - They said they cannot scan our car software remotely. Will only tow to the nearest Volvo showroom i.e. at Lakebridge (which is still ~90+ km from Toronto) as per policy. By this time it was 8pm. All showrooms were closed. We repeatedly asked them to allow us a tow back into Toronto (since we had already driven 100km out of the city) as the showroom was closed, there are no hotels nearby and all repair shops will be closed for the long weekend. Plus it was nearing nightfall and I being pregnant, it's a very risky situation at night. They showed no compassion and coldly said, that's all we can offer, and you can take an UBER back to wherever your home is - Just a reminder that our home was >100km away from breakdown point. And moreover, how our car is towed from that local dealership to Toronto garage is "none of their business". We helplessly agreed. After almost 20 mins of wait, I got a text msg with link to track the tow truck. It showed the location at AJAX. Just to confirm that it's the location of the tow truck that is coming to help us, I called the number. They informed that they were under the impression that we were at AJAX, and they were yet to start, it will take another 1.5 hours. Called back ON-CALL. Reconfirmed location with the nearest exits that was Wesleyville outlet from 401E. The fools on the other side kept asking for a landmark which is basically few trees and shrubs and heavy trucks racing past. Remember it's beyond 8.30pm now. Another 10-15 min later the tow company SSR TOWING called back to ask if we were at some cottage at Port Hope. By this time, we were in despair, and literally don't know what to do - I once again tried to re-explain our location (for the 1000th time) and then came the LAST BLOW !!! - The tow truck (which is yet to start to come and pick us) can seat only 1 of us. The other person can follow in Uber. I pleaded them to provide another truck explaining my situation - No reaction, just a cold REFUSAL. Husband called back ON-CALL to cancel the tow: They indifferently agreed with a "SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCE" response. We call 911. With God's grace, a truck from CAA Certified BROWN TOWING company arrived hastily in 15min, and towed all of us back to our home, Toronto North York within 1 hour. They guy was efficient, compassionate (asked if I needed a restroom and something to eat). Great service and reasonable price. I need to know where VOLVO stands in terms of its MORAL GROUNDS when it comes to customer service, apart from it's pathetic car performance.

Stay Far Away
In first week, had a tire that slowly was leaking air and needed to be replaced. Manufacturer couldn't provide the tire so had to get new tires for back. Gas pedal compresses air first and was told this was from the car 'learning my driving habits'. In first year, I've had the car at the shop 6 times - a rattle from the top of the car, primarily happens when its cold and worst of all the infotainment system/electrical system controls everything and that's been spotty and has died, leaving the car not to turn on, the system to drive but no heat/ac/radio/etc. Software updates are OFTEN and every time, its a problem and some you have to take your car to the dealership to do. 1st time Volvo owner and love how the car drives when it works. Not impressed with the faulty technology. Very worried about what is to come, no matter how long the warranty. Car doesn't even have 6k miles on it.

3 days old and the car is dead
Ran for three days and then decided to not start. had it towed to the dealer, who asked if i had an appointment! When I called in the afternoon to see if they had even looked at the car, he again stated, "well you didn't have an appointment". I guess I should have scheduled the car dying at a more convenient time for the dealer! aside from the POS car, the dealer service is the worst I've ever dealt with

Worst purchase
I got the vehicle in April and have had it in the shop 4 times now with no repair in sight. The computer system seems to have a bug and the techs at the dealership were not prepared to fix the vehicle. I was very excited to purchase my first Volvo and have had such poor follow up from Volvo since this vehicle has been a disaster. I just want my money back.

2022 Volvo XC60 Plug-in hybrid future lemon
Just leased it in April 2022. Switched from a BMW X3 because wife liked the design of the XC60 better. Electric battery stopped charging and vehicle completely died. Won’t start gasoline engine. Remote control didn’t work. Tried to jump started but didn’t charge. Got it towed to the dealer and was told they had to special order part (high voltage coolant heater) and it would take a week for the part to arrive. Worst new vehicle I’ve had in 20 years. I thought Volvos were reliable. Guess not anymore. Stay away from Volvo!

Brand new lemon
I purchased an xc60 extended plug in on 4/30. Within 48 hours of purchasing this brand new ev it was diagnosed with a failed erad. Three weeks later and the car is still in the service department with no eta of when the backordered part will be available from the factory. It’s in operable till the part is replaced. I’m so disappointed that Volvo brought an ev to the marketplace with the inability to make repairs due to a lack of available parts. Customer cares most current communication in this whole ordeal is, “ We truly apologize for the delay, the Executive Team is experiencing higher than usual delays; we will follow up with you as soon as we receive a response.”

2 months in I love it
2 months in and about 3,000 miles and we love it. First point, the EPA mileage estimate is too low. We are currently averaging around town with a combination of city and highway driving 27.6 mpg. Second, the Google assistant is the bomb. It’s responsive and well integrated. Third, it drives beautifully. A real nice firm feel to the handling and steering and a smooth, but not isolating ride. Fourth, the seats and interior are stunning. I just did 325 miles in it and it was a breeze Fifth, the driver assist system is just wild. It practically drives itself and is wonderful in commuter traffic. Downside? The kick trigger on the tailgate is a little hit and miss. I’ll update in a few months. Oh and I absolutely love the looks and subtle refinements of the ‘22

Our 10 month old XC60 broke down one fine morning, it stopped responding, no reason. We called Volvo roadside service in the morning at 7 am, they came in the evening at 7 pm. Feeling was, at least they came, They tried few tricks on the car before towed to nearest service center. The car spent 7 days in service center(Palo Alto). Interestingly they just spent 4-5 hours to upgraded some software and returned the car. After service , i saw lot many alarms including engine light on the cluster dashboard. They did not check basic things after service. I have to drop the car back. This time the car was in service center for 20 days. Literally I don't have a car for a month. Volvo doesn't even offer a bike as courtesy. Nevertheless i was living with few existing problems like car heater doesn't work etc , they wont fix it since lot of cars have same problem , parts are backlogged. Go to twitter and check, some how i found more complains there. Wish i read them before i bought. After you read this and still like to buy Volvo , go for it!

I'm reserving final opinion.
I purchased my 2022 Volvo XC60 in November of 2022. The comfort is top notch, the drive is fabulous and the safety the biggest reason I bought this. I was looking at a used 2018, but wanted the new Google operating system. So far, I have had a few issues; the GPS will stop locating, necessitating rebooting the system, the check engine light came on and when checked by my dealer, was a software issue and required a reinstall of the system. The most annoying to me, after months of research on what vehicle I wanted to buy, was the promise on the Volvo website that massaging seats would be part of the Inscription level that I purchased. After receiving the vehicle, I couldn't find how to turn on the massaging option and found to my dismay that it is not included even though the description on the website says it is. I reached out to Volvo and was essentially told that they screwed up and while it is shown on the website, it is not on the vehicle. I would think that a multi-billion dollar company would employ enough tech people to make sure their website description of the vehicle was accurate. To me, it's like telling you you'll have air conditioning, but when you take possession of it, they say, "oops", it's not there. I bought the vehicle for three reasons, comfort, safety and the massaging seats as my wife and I both have back issues. What a surprise to see we were lied to and Volvo refuses to do anything about it. Hopefully the software will evolve and we will get Apple Car Play and other functions that are not there. I guess, buyer beware on buying something that's not ready for sale. A car that cost as much as this one should work and have the options listed.

2022 XC60 Recharge
The 2022 XC60 Recharge is an excellent vehicle. The power, steering, braking (including regenerative braking), ride and electric only distance are outstanding. With an electric range of 35-40 miles, we have been able to complete 100% of our local driving on battery alone. The driving experience is easily 5-stars. The only criticism we have is that the Google Android user interface is ok, but not superior. “Hey Google” does not always prompt a response, requiring us to use the steering wheel button to activate voice response. Integration of common Google apps like Maps and various music options are nice. We look forward to Volvo’s plan to offer Apple Car Play in the near future. With the upgraded battery, the 2022 XC60 Recharge is highly recommended for both electric only local driving and comfortable, efficient and anxiety free long distance travel.

Unreliable, Glitchy and Not Worth the Money
We have been leasing the 2022 XC-60 for 14 months and we have had to take it into the dealership seven times with the same unrepairable issues. The infotainment system, that controls everything from heat/air con to reversing cameras to GPS, has been a total disaster. The screen will suddenly go black leaving us with no heat in the middle of the Canadian winter or no A/C in the middle of summer. Nothing permanently fixes it. The dealership has even replaced the display and it did nothing. The dealership continues to perform system updates that sometimes help for a short time but the issue inevitably returns. The problems are never fully resolved. Safety warnings constantly come up in the dash. We don't feel safe in this vehicle and Volvo refuses to do anything to resolve this issue. It is beyond frustrating to be paying a not insignificant amount of money monthly to lease a car that can't provide functional features. The software was apparently changed to android or Google in 2022 and it is a complete disaster. We did not get the car we were promised and we are so disappointed we will likely never get another Volvo, which is an embarrassment to Volvo as my family have been loyal Volvo clients since my childhood. I would like to know what other people have done or are doing about these problems and whether anyone has had these issues resolved? It's a gorgeous vehicle and drives beautifully when it works but the software has completely ruined it.

Terrible electronics in a very good vehicle.
My 10th Volvo and 3rd XC60. They finally fixed the power and handling issues in the 2022, but hobbled the entire car with an abortion of an infotainment system. No AM radio. Radio changes station on its own. New antennae system gets poor reception. GPS locks up randomly and needs a complete car electronic reset to fix. Sound for all car systems mutes and requires a dealer reset. I could go on. I'm on the verge of invoking the lemon law process. I have owned the car a month and its been in the dealer shop 2 weeks of that time. God bless our dealer. They have done everything they can for us. But they've reached their limits and have been fighting Volvo the entire time. Someone at Volvo should be fired for releasing this fiasco of a system. I own three Volvos now and will never buy one again. Update. A year's worth of patches and hours connected to the computer at the dealer and only slightly better. We stopped using profiles and killed the android login. They seemed to be cause a host of issues. Navigation is the one bright spot. But we now have issues with automatic braking activating randomly. We have come very close to disaster several times as the brakes were suddenly applied on back roads. And the mobile app is now useless. Autostart is unreliable, now passing destination address to car, almost no car status info. Not sure what the point of the app is.

Volvo missed the mark on what could be great
Purchased a 2021 Volvo XC60 Inscription T5 in March of 2021. It was a retired loaner vehicle and the infotainment/climate controls were horrible and unsafe to use while driving. Fast forward 9 months and 7 visits to the dealer for issues that no new vehicle should have. Clip was missing on an evaporation hose, then a bad turbo control module which caused the engine to run very rich and diminished fuel economy and diluted the oil. Overactive rear cross traffic alert when nothing was around and one instance it hurt my neck. After our displeasure with the vehicle, our dealership (Stillman Volvo) wrote to Volvo and asked to put us in a different vehicle. We are now in a 2022 XC60 B5 Inscription with same options and the addition of the Advanced Package. I praise the dealer and Volvo for standing behind their product. However, the new Google based system is no better then the old system and the GPS/Google assist is currently not working. I also noticed under the hood there are less covers on the radiator support and other metal components that remind me of a vehicle built in the 1970's. The rear climate control reads in Celsius and the front in Fahrenheit. The new powertrain is smoother and more fuel efficient than the T5. But for nearly $60k this is a way overpriced vehicle. Driving dynamics are okay at best and the road noise from the tires is annoying. I miss our 2012 S60 that was much quieter and more simple to use. This will no doubt be my last Volvo. My last complaint is the 4 year subscription that gives you automatic start, then you have to pay $400 to get a new subscription. Complete nonsense!!!

Just not ready for prime time.
Our Vehicle is a 2022 Volvo XC60, B6, Mild Hybrid, AWD. That wasn’t listed on this review’s options of vehicles. Maybe it’s different here in Canada. What should have been a technologically advanced system with Google Automotive (don’t confuse that with Android Auto…) in reality, it is an abject failure. Google Automotive is the operating system that is now the basis for the features in the vehicle. As I write this, the software version is 1.7, and even with those minor updates from 1.0, it is sorely lacking in stability. When the OS is lacking in stability, so are other functions connected to it. That Volvo is having its customers test the systems for the company is beyond comprehension. Personally, I’m fed up hearing, “Well, the next update may correct that, or have that feature.” Hey, that’s not what I paid for! I paid a fair amount of money to have a vehicle that actually operates as advertised, but reality has seen that isn’t the case. Imagine driving your brand new XC60 home from the dealership on day 1 and the entire display goes black. No more GPS, no more apps, no nothin’. Flickering on and off the entire way home, and on the second day when the dealership picked it up to “fix it.” (And I don’t know how they’re going to fix it: It’s already at the latest software version. This isn’t an “app” they’re trying to fix, it’s the operating system! This is akin to returning your old Windows PC to Microsoft to fix because there are issues with the Windows operating system itself.) Furthermore, each time on day 2 that we tried to download apps, which downloaded without any problems, those apps were US-based, not Canadian, where we live. IHeart Radio, for instance, couldn’t find any Canadian stations, because it was using the US-based app, and there was no changing location in the Preferences. For a company like Volvo to release its vehicles with this Google Automotive that’s riddled with issues, is ridiculous. Reviews online that praise the vehicle and the new Google OS, ought to attach a disclaimer that praise is due IF the OS is operating as it should. When you’re staring at a black screen (remember the Windows’ Blue Screen of Death? Well, we’re at Volvo’s Black Screen of Death,) you feel like you’re driving blind, without access to the vehicle. On Day 2 of ownership, Volvo collected my car and it now sits at the dealership waiting to be “fixed.” Anyway, I’m not a fan of Volvo at the moment. My husband regrets the decision that we bought this vehicle and that it had to be returned on Day 2. As for the actual physical vehicle, it’s an attractive, smaller SUV, with extremely attractive interior components. Even at the Momentum trim level, it doesn’t include front park control, nor does it have 360 degree camera assist. Our 2017 Pacifica has it all, though. And before you say you can add a package on, yes, I’m aware of that. It has FM radio, but doesn’t have AM radio, Yes, I know, that’s why I downloaded iHeart Radio, but still couldn’t access any Canadian stations for the reason listed above. The dashboard is a strange oddity. The only thing that is able to show up there is Google Maps. So, if that’s not on, the dash is black, save for a few miniature icons, one of which is speed. Really, Volvo dropped the ball with this half-baked system. Eventually, I’m sure that it will correct these issues (they have no choice), but I feel that this vehicle, as lovely as it looks and drives, is sorely lacking. I’m not a Volvo Guinea-pig; I’m a first-time purchaser of a Volvo and to say we’re disappointed in this sub-par purchase is an understatement. My advice? Stay clear of the Google Automotive vehicles until Volvo and Google have got their **** together. At the moment, it’s pretty awful.

Recharge - smooth ride and great experience
Considering any other common brand's PHEV from Hyandai and Toyota has $5-10k mark-up, we ventured into Volvo. Yes, even at MSRP, it is still more pricey, but we have been very impressed by the drive experience and smooth ride. 35 miles pure electric is far enough to be practical. Yes, a gripe is on Google infotainment. Lack of Apple CarPlay stinks and absence of Waze is a disaster for us. Dealer told us that they will be available through over-the-air update by end of year. If they aren't, I will return to take off a couple stars.

Bought it, sold it after 8 weeks
I already own a 2021 XC40 Recharge EV and love it, so I thought I’d add an XC60 plug in Recharge Inscription to my garage. Bad idea. While the car drives nicely and is obviously luxurious and classy, there are so many things I disliked about it, I traded it in on a Highlander after 8 weeks of ownership having driven it 508 miles. In that time it had one factory recall and was back in to the Volvo dealership twice for warranty repairs! I can’t imagine owning one of these new Volvos after their manufacture’s warranty expires. On the Highway there was quite a lot of road noise, the Harmon Kardon stereo is average at best, no Apple Car Play, no kick under the bumper to raise the tailgate, like we are now seeing on basic Japanese models. The main reason for trading it in beyond the reliability was the plug in hybrid range as I would have to plug it in after each drive. It is rated to have a 19 mile range in full electric mode, well maybe on the highway at 50 mph with no wind and on a 70 o F day. But in winter in Iowa it gets an 8 to 10 mile range, the you’re back in the garage plugging it in. With a 240 volt 50 amp charger it would take several hours to recharge and there is not yet a scheduled charge setting like on my XC40 to begin charging in low rate hours. While you can still drive it with zero charge in Hybrid mode it is still a Volvo recommendation to keep it charged. Driving it in Hybrid mode still drains the electric battery and while you can drive it on Power mode and recharge the battery as you drive, it takes awhile and in the meantime your driving on an Internal combustion engine using expensive premium grade fuel while the little 4 cylinder engines roars away. Even the gas mileage was only about 24 MPG around town. In summary, it’s stylish, classy, comfortable and easy to drive but for the price, I don’t feel there is value for money. Either wait until you’re comfortable driving a full EV like the XC40 which is thrilling to drive or stay with an ICE, but plug in Hybrid is like being “half pregnant”

Turn OFF Automatic Software Updates
Took awhile but have grown from tolerating to appreciating this SUV. Replacement of a defective 12v battery and the dealer updating my car from the 2.0 to the 2.1 software resolved the initial issues that initially were bricking my XC60 B5. Second, I turned OFF the automatic software updates which you can do in “check for software update” submenu. Sticking with version 2.1 for now since it has made my car stable (at least on my B5 trim). 2.2 is available which includes Apple CarPlay but that version was JUST released and the initial bugs have not been worked out. So buggy that 2.2 is not available for an OTA update specifically for B5 trims since it causes known problems. While CarPlay is in high demand the native Google OS has been great and the Google map appears on the driver display which CarPlay currently won’t. That said, recommend finding the software version that enables stability for your car/trim and then turn off automatic updates in the settings. For my XC60 B5 I am going to stick with 2.1 until forced to update or until the blogs indicate Volvo and Google are aligning better. Aside from the software gremlins this SUV is comfortable, super handsome in my r-design trim, and feels a touch unique.

HYBRID AWD PURE - FAILURE
We purchased the car in June. Just this week before the first snowstorm AWD and HYBRID stopped. You cannot put the car into that mode. All we have is front wheel drive and we can't charge while driving. Service Dept answer is to drive it until the can get the back ordered part for which they can't provide a date. Another car has the same issue so it is not just us. DO NOT BUY A VOLVO. Only has 10K miles and I want them to buy it back.

So far, not impressed.
I purchased a Volvo XC60 B6 AWD just last October 6,2021. The car is beautiful, comfortable and handles very nicely. Plenty of power, very smooth ride and quiet. The first issue was that the Weston Volvo agent that sold me the car DoD not take the time to introduce me to many of the technology and convenient features of the car. It seems he was also selling a car to another customer. Well, that led to much frustration and problems that I was left to deal with on my own. I had to make several return trips to Weston just to ask for helpgetting acquainted with the car and it's high tech functions. So, when you are spending $70k on a new car don't drive it home until you are given a thorough rundown by the sales agent on the features and operation of the vehicle. I feel this was inconsiderate and rude. As a result with my dissatisfaction with Weston Volvo I decided to switch to Gunther Volvo Coconut Creek. Which is closer to my home anyway. Well, now I'm back here for the second melt down of the the Android Auto. The service department has no idea why this happened and couldn't even tell me when they would have it fixed. After waiting for 3 hours they did provide a loaner for me but all these issues have made me less trusting of the Volvo ownership "experience".

Beautiful car, but technology is terrible
Don't waste your time. I wanted this car for months but never thought I thought I would have such trouble with the technology. I have to reboot my system every day and it still locks up and things freeze up on me.
So glad I made this purchase
Purchased my XC60 in February. Many of the concerns I have seen in previous reviews have been fixed. I'm certainly an Apple fan, but the google interface works well and I haven't really noticed that CarPlay isn't available yet. Most importantly, this car is a blast to drive. I've been getting well over 20 miles of all electric range on my commute to work. It has a great mix of luxury feel and responsive driving fun. There are a ton of included safety features that work seemlessly. I shopped pretty much every vehicle in this class and the XC60 was by far the best mix of value and performace for the money

Safest and Most Luxurious Car I’ve Owned
To begin, I’m SUPER shocked to see so many negative reviews. I guess Volvo worked out all the bugs by the time I took delivery of my vehicle. I’ve had my black exterior and blonde interior Volvo XC60 for about 2 months now, and I’ve not had a single issue. I purchased the top of the line Inscription B5 with every feature. I got a terrific deal on it too. About $5k below MSRP, which is nearly unheard of in 2022. I managed to get my XC60 with stock 22 inch wheels, which is rare on an SUV. This car is seriously amazing. I’ve driven a BMW before and honestly, the Volvo is a step above. The Bowers and Wilkins sound system is freaking amazing. Sometimes I don’t want to get out of my car to go inside because the system just serenades me. It makes me feel like I’m in a concert hall. The ride quality and external acoustics of this car are simply amazing. You can’t really hear the wind at 65-70 mph. The suspension on mine is great and the ride is still superb even with the 22s. There are no creaks or rattles, which are my biggest pet peeves, and why I won’t buy a Mercedes. Also, build quality is excellent too. The SUV is super solid and feels very strong. Accompanied with the exceptional safety features that are actually useful and not gimmicky, I feel safe if in the unfortunate event I were to be involved in an accident. Obviously, Volvo is known for safety, but you have to drive and be in the ambience of the vehicle to understand. The infotainment can be a little bit interesting in the beginning but once you get used to it, it’s awesome. You can use voice commands for literally anything and everything from AC and ventilated seats, to calling and playing a specific song. You rarely need to touch the screen. Overall, this vehicle has been fantastic. I’m super happy with my purchase. I feel sorry for those who’ve had a bad experience.

Late Model 22’s Fixed the Gripes
I’ve had my car for one year and 12k miles. I’ve driven round trip from Arkansas to Arizona twice. Most all other miles have been “Pure” mode electric only. So about 50/50. Not one glitch. 100% reliable. Software: The OTA software updates have worked every time for me BUT I do them always in my garage when my car is connected to my home wifi, not over cellular (not sure if that was the cause for some people). I’ve gotten used to the Google infotainment system and it’s Google Assistant’s ability to control certain vehicle settings with your spoken command. YouTube music actually sounds clearer than Apple Music through Apple CarPlay and a wired iPhone 13. The Volvo phone app is the biggest disappointment. It works 80% of the time and its functions are bare bones only. Kia offers better telematics. Safety systems: I wish the safety systems made warning noises (like when you start to change lanes with a car in your blind spot). I also wish the lanes beside you were visible on the video screen like Genesis offers. And to this day, I still have no idea if the car would actually stop if I didn’t react in time to avoid a collision. Brakes are firm, confident, and effectively stop this very heavy car. Interior/Body/Paint: The paint is holding up great, despite the highway miles through the desert. Not a single pit or abrasion in the front end paint. The doors and all panels fit perfectly and close with a reassuring and refined “thunk.” Not a single squeak or rattle. This thing is QUIET. The leather interior and build quality are very good, far surpassing Lexus and Mercedes in my opinion (I’ve owned both) and on par with Audi. The B&W audio system is expensive but worth every penny. Climate Control: The AC will freeze you out if you want it to. Works faster than any car I’ve ever had. The heat isn’t that quick, however. Heated/cooled seats are awesome. Heating steering wheel gets really warm and I have to turn it down soon after I take off. Driving: More than enough power in electric only.. I get anywhere from 34 to 45 miles on a charge, depending on outside temperature. If you run it in Performance Mode, be prepared to be startled off the line. Dealership experience: it’s ok. I’d rate it a 3 out of 5, but I think a lot of dealerships are struggling to hire and retain people. I hope that improves the further we get away from the pandemic.

2 weeks with it and already serious issues.
Car looks and drives great, except for: A) the collision avoidance system has activated itself for no reason 2 times on the highway when no cars were in front and almost got rear-ended. B) turned the car on and no sound (radio, GPS, turn signals. Nothing.) Will be returning to dealer to check system but high low expectations based on other comments on this and other forums.
My 2022 Volvo XC60 AWD is about to cost me $425
Why, because they have sensors on the front of the car with glass thin enough to break from a rock on the highway. I can't be the only one who has encountered this issue. I would assume Volvo would use some glass-clad polycarbonate or laminated polycarbonate product to protect these sensors, but they don't. Volvo has chosen to not cover the expense, which is a shame. Most manufacturers do a better job standing behind their product. I love my Volvo but between the annoying electrical glitches and now this sensor replacement on my dime (too many dimes), I will finish up the lease and make my third Volvo be my last Volvo. Very dissappointing.

The sound of silence!
I purchased a 2022 XC 60 (my 2nd- up from a xc 40). The was running OK but about 4-6 months after purchase I needed a series of updates. Then the fun began- no navigation, black out radio, navi and anything electrical. Most recently - the car would not start. Battery dead? Tow came and jumped started. Taken back to the dealers work shop- I don't know what has happened. An electrical problem? Or a mechanical problem but the car was dead in water. Fortunately I wasn't far from home- I shudder to think the issues if I was far from my home. I am so disappointed with this- makes me wonder what happened to Volvo realiablity?
Infotainment system a nightmare as well as the hea
That infotainment system is horrible- changing channels and the display gets stuck on an old song for hours. Goi g in tomorrow for help but now reading reviews I am disappointed as I realize im not alone and there won't likely be a lasting fix! My last 2019 volvoxc60 did not have this issue. And how during my test drive I missed the reflection of the heads up display box on the dashboard I'll never know. So awful. I see a big box in my line of sight most of the time except when the light is juuust right. And I've turned of the heads up display cause I don't need it! Wish I had bought a different car.
