Likes include the solid build quality and sleek, modern looks, esp. on this SE-R-Line. I also like the peppier tune on this 2022, 2.0L engine vs. previous years which I've owned. Here in Denver there is a good selection of real cars that are on dealer lots unlike Subaru, Toyota, Honda. This is a tremendous plus to be able to drive an actual car before you buy it! Dislikes include the fussy, haptic controls on the steering wheel and for the climate controls. Once you get used to them, they are acceptable. They look modern and work well, but I sometimes have to take my eyes off the road to adjust them This AWD car exceeds EPA mileage estimates as did my previous VWs. My car's computer is currently showing 29.5 mpg overall average after 3200 miles of mixed driving (70% hwy.) Some older reviews complain that this car lacks power but I completely disagree. Especially at altitude, the 2022 Tiguan easily outperforms the new Forester. I tested several. Some more likes I just thought of: Beautiful LED, interior ambient lighting can be adjusted for colors and intensity or turned off. Headlights are crisp, white LEDs that light the road nicely without blinding other drivers. The auto-dimming, frameless rear-view mirror also has a compass built in along with Homelink remote.

Likes- solid car, dependable, handling, many driving style options. Dislikes- Expensive oil changes, factory tires, brake wear, Overall- I love Germans cars, had them all.. I opted to upgrade tires to a larger size, 235/60/17 major change in ride quality, handling.. I use 5-30 20k engine oil, as the factory had no choice to meet US EPA thinner oil for MPG. Zero effect on anything. Quieter engine now. 5k oil changes.. 20k is absurd!! My last VW had 300k miles when I sold it. No issues ever. This car will not disappoint, highly recommend.

We liked the first one so much, a 2019 SEL Premium R Line, that we traded it in on a 2022 SEL. My wife loves loves loves this car. She's not into the tech stuff, she just likes how easy it is to drive and how comfortable it is to ride in while still handling well. She routinely gets over 30mpg on average, including 35+ on the highway. My only complaint is that the ride is just a bit stiffer than I prefer. It was on our 2019 too, and when we replaced the tires we got some with a slightly larger sidewall and that made a world of difference....so we will do the same when the time comes on our 2022. I drive a LOT of rentals when traveling for work, and when I get home and drive this SUV I'm always saying I can't believe how much better I like it than other every other SUV I rent.

OK so I had a 2019 SE FWD Tiguan with the two tone golden oak interior that I traded in for the 2022 all-wheel-drive SEL RLine… There is no third row, there is air heated and cooled seating controls for the front driver and passenger, there is wave technology where you can just use your hand to wave it in front of the screen to get to the menu you are looking for, you can change the color of the interior lighting which I absolutely love because I’m a freaking toddler, and the fact that I can drive in snow or whatever with this vehicle without the third row seating… Makes me super excited because of SnowMageddon that happened in Texas… I absolutely love this car! It is fun to drive, fuel economy is pretty good, it beautiful in blue with the light gray interior, There are so many safety features I took my niece for her first driving lesson in this car a week after I got it in an empty parking lot and she did fantastic! It is a huge confidence builder for those that question their driving abilities. I love my car, I don’t miss the third row (it’s really not comfortable for adults anyway and with all wheel drive you do not get a third row), I love that the steering wheel has a heated feature because my hands are always freezing #Raynauds, The navigation and all the other features other than the charging that doesn’t go through my cell phone case… I love SUV. This is absolutely my favorite car, I have been a Volkswagen enthusiast since 2008… I feel like this is a grown-up version of all the things I love about VW.

Overall it is a great car. Gas mileage highway will get you 33MPG sometimes 37MPG depending on the wind. Very comfortable seats, and the rear seats recline about 3 inch for more comfort. Very easy to get in and out. Plenty of legroom front and 2nd row, but the 3rd row is useless. The driver left armrest sets low not comfortable for long trips, as for the center arm rest it’s ok but could be better. The engine is not bad at all, it’s very good but a little extra horse power will definitely makes a difference. Please pay attention to this option PANORAMIC SUNROOF, if you live in a hot states you will feel the heat in slow or jammed traffic even with the shade closed, that was my main reason I traded my 2021 for 2022. I recommend this car

I have owned this 2022 VW Tiguan for 3 months now and am pleased with it. First, you have to let the engine warm up in order for the turbo not to*lag.* If you are an impatient individual and expect this car to go fast from a cold start; then go buy something else. The infotainment system is just fine. Probably gives too much information. Gas mileage has been great. Running around I've been getting 27 or better . Highway hit 39 . Oil changes for me are at 5k. Going to 10k may be possible, but I prefer treating the engine better than what's recommended. Comfort level is good and in the Northeast I *really* appreciate the heated seats. Combine that with the remote start from your phone or remote; what more could you ask for?

Got myself a 22 SEL R LINE three weeks ago and have put a little over 1K on it. Coming from a 17 ALLTRACK S. Night and day difference, of course. Some initial observations: The seats in the SEL are great. Very comfortable. Have the ventilated option, and while certainly not a necessity, it is a really nice thing to have on these super hot days. The ride is comfy and quiet. It’s not a sports car, but feels like it could have been in a past life. It’s a great cruiser. There is plenty of room: dog, bike…whatever. Gas mileage is decent, not great. Yes the Haptic Touch controls kind of suck, but whatever. They work. There are allot of alerts that kick off when getting close to a curb, a bush, the car in front of you, the car behind you, and I turned most of them off. It’s just a little to overprotective. Get one, you’ll see. So, in summary, I really like my new car. It’s a great road trip car, fun around town, and most importantly for me, very comfortable. Pretty good!

I was very pleased with the 2022 upgrade, VW tuned the Engine to match the 8 speed automatic so they feel right now. Regular Gas was a very good move VW made, the 2.0t engine has good torque so it pulls without having to constantly shift gears like other brands. No CVT thank GOD. All wheel drive is great in all types of weather. Leg room is Excellent especially in the middle row. Only bother with the 3rd row if you have little kids. IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus crash test, doesn't get better. Nice easy small SUV to drive, Excellent Visibility. The only thing I miss is the Hybrid system in European Models, VW, please send us the models people want.

Huge regrets about buying a new Volkswagen. Buyer beware! Purchased a new Tiguan for my daughter. Halfway through the first oil change and the car has used three quarts of oil. According to Volkswagen, this "is in spec." and they won't do anything. Per the dealer, adding 3 quarts of oil between oil changes is normal. First and last Volkswagen!

The car looks beautiful. However, when it comes to technology and mechanics this car leaves something to be desired. The infotainment system often doesn't work at all. It freezes, it locks up, and no sound will play from the speakers. I've taken the car in for repairs endless times, and yet the infotainment system continues to malfunction. There's a known recall on the infotainment system. The brakes are extremely slow to react. Ultimately, I end up hard braking quite often. I worry I could potentially rear-end someone. In addition, there have been times I've attempted to switch the car into reverse. The car locks up, and won't move once you put your foot on the gas pedal. Also, something to note: Volkswagen will not give you a loaner vehicle if they need to keep your car in their shop for any malfunction. Sometimes they'll have car rentals available for purchase. However, if service needs to keep your car for an extended period, you'll be stuck without a vehicle (regardless if the issue is a manufacturing defect). This itself makes me feel undervalued as a customer. I would think twice prior to purchasing another Volkswagen.

Since I picked up my 2022 Tiquan Highline i have had multiple issues: (1) the audio system totally cuts out (turning the car off/on at a stop light sometimes brings it back). (2) the most annoying issue is the notification that my "Travel Assist currently not available" with amber triangle icons and alert rings every few minutes (its like driving without your seatbelt notifications). Service has no solution and tells me for the past 6 months that a system software update is coming that will correct the problem with the infotainment system (3) the start/stop system hesitates when starting (keep that feature turned off). Passengers express concerns with the amount of false notifications and I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to sell off this car !!!

At age 64 I have owned many cars but this one was the first time I was so frustrated that I sold it after 3 months. Car drove acceptably - not great. Ok on the highway, but when it is cold, or at low speed, the engine stops/bucks as you try to accelerate. Not fun in an intersection. But worse is that in three months I had three major repair issues that kept it at the dealership multiple days. I didn't buy a new car to have to hassle with getting rentals just to get to work and back. 3 major repairs in 3 months - 3 strikes and VW is out. My worst car buy ever.

I thought I wouldn’t like this car going from a Traverse but I actually love it. I have a pano sunroof all the nice features like Apple car play, lane assist, heated seats, third row, and rain sensing windshield wipers!!! Downfall to my specific Tiguan is I don’t have the blind spot monitor but i never really used them before I’m in the habit of always checking them! My Traverse had cameras ALL over this doesn’t but again didn’t use that much either. The one big downfall I did use and will look into installing is the power lift gate for the trunk. I hate this doesn’t have it in my Tiguan! Other than that it’s really nice. Smaller adult can fit in the third row 5’5 😂. The pick up is great for an SUV even has a “sport” mode.

I love the look and ride of my Tiguan SE 4Motion when it gets going: it's sleek and clean looking, and the interior is comfortable as is the ride. When it gets going. The issue is that the turbo engine - like many turbo engines - takes a "break" before the turbo spools up and kicks in, and the vehicle can buck or sputter upon acceleration, whether you gun it or gently hit the pedal. It's infuriating - especially if you are in stop-and-go traffic or at a four-way stop - and dangerous. After two years, I'm trading it in for a Forester.

Handling and pep of a car, versatility of an SUV/wagon. I originally wanted a Golf, but for the price this made much more sense. The car seems well-built, relatively efficient and practical. It handles so well, even friends I have let drive it are impressed. I have only a couple of gripes - one is the constant “eco tips” that occupy digital dash while driving. Also, the towing capacity is pathetic for what it is. Every other SUV of this class can tow 2000+, Tiguan can only tow 1500 lbs. I tow a small trailer from time to time and have now have to be extra conscious of the weight. Everything else is great.

I traded in my 2020 Mazda CX-5 primarily due to concerns over the faulty electrical system. And I’m glad I did. The Tiguan is much better appointed, drives better, accelerates faster, and just overall feels better to be in. The third row is kind of pointless but good for my dog, she doesn’t complain about being cramped. Overall, I think this was the right choice for our family.

We purchased a 2022 Tiguan because our Jetta was getting too small for our 5 year old. It was a fantastic choice. We love all of the safety features and the drive assist features. We also love the roominess of the car. Our favorite feature is the wide open moon roof. All in all is a great small SUV. The only thing that I wish they would have done is offered a bigger engine with more power. It will do what you need it to do, but It is not the best at accelerating.

The vehicle looks great, but after driving it for 14 miles I find the acceleration jerky, sometime slow to engage. I have on occasion not always depressed the gas pedal slightly to pull out into traffic and the pedal keep going down with no response and then all of a sudden the turbo kicks in and your off to the races. That is scary and dangerous. I brought the car back and I was told by sales it is common and would work it's way out. The Service Advisor tells me 7 days later when I bring it in for Service that it can't be fixed it's normal for the Tiguan. Turbo Lag, Save your self the financial loss and the irritability and buy a different car.

I test drove numerous SUVs, Nissan Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, etc. none of them have the acceleration or handling like the Volkswagen Tiguan. I have the SE model with all the options, rain sensing wipers, heated seats, rear camera, rear sensors, front crash protection, Blindspot, monitor, leather seats, etc. handles great and is torquey. Gets excellent gas mileage I’ve gotten over 30 miles per gallon on the highway. This is my third Tiguan and never had any issues with them.

Went to lease an R-Line to have a peace of mind, but now I own a nightmare which even the service doesn't have the part to fix it! After couple of weeks of getting a brand-new Tiguan, I started to face these problems: - I realized it stops when you push the pedal to accelerate, like a hiccup, then it goes out of control, so you must use break!! The service says it's normal because the engine is Turbo, and they don't have any idea how to fix it! - You connect the Apple Carplay, it gets blurry, stops moving, and you miss turns and you are lost! It's good for yourself navigation skills though! The service has updated the software multiple time, but useless and I think they don't have any update that works! So please don't buy this if you want to connect your phone to the car!! - The worst one, every some seconds, and it's completely random, an alarm goes off (a beep sound like you when you don't put your seat belt on), telling you on the screen behind the wheel that "Travel assist currently not available". The service says it's the stirring wheel problem and it needs to be replaced but it's on back order for the past 9 months and they have not provided any timeline to fix this up yet. Just imagine after couple of weeks, all these started to show up, and they haven't fixed it yet. We can't use this car for any trip, we can't put any kids inside as the disrupting alarm scares them and prevents them from falling asleep. I even recently had to buy an old Nissan to even switch my commute to as this ongoing alarm reminds me of hospitals which I have had a traumatic experience in. And guess what?!?! We must still paying the full premium amount every month for this crap while we can't use it! We hate it every day when we see it parked in our parking lot wasting the space! We called their customer service and they said they can't do anything, and we have to wait for the part to be available so they can change. They don't even know when that's gonna happen! Maybe at the end of the lease term when they want to get it back and resell it in the market! VW is out of our list forever! We are gonna make sure it's also out of whomever we know list forever! We have convinced (wasn't hard at all) 4 of our friends who actually were signing the deal, to walk away, and whenever they sit in our VW, they thank us for that.

Very nice small SUV, third row is good for young kids to teenagers, shorter adults for short around town trips. Would not recommend for long trips though. The SE is very well equipped. Missing some features that I think should be in any vehicle with power seats such as memory seat/ mirror. Adaptive cruise control can be adjusted to your liking along with blind side monitoring, lane assist is nice and works well great. Smooth ride steering seems a bit lite but very comfortable and quiet to drive. The suspension handels the bumps in city driving. Over all I would purchase again.

I just got divorced and have 3 kids and was debating between getting a gas guzzling 3 row suv in case I get a girlfriend or something down the road in a year or two (i tend to like to drive cars till they die) or sticking with a two row. This was a good compromise for me. The 3rd row is great for stuffing their friends back there once in awhile or when my youngest is causing problems and needs space, but I wouldnt rely on the 3rd row for regular use. Its small even my 10 and 12 year old fit but say it feels scrunched, and its also not particularly easy for them to get in and out. But again if you just need it to haul an extra kid or two from practice its nice to have. Acceleration felt really rough and unpredictable the first couple thousand miles but smoothed out over time I think the car just needed to breakin, also once you get a feel for it it is more predictable too but like the professional review uneven acceleration is probably my biggest annoyance with it, and while not as bad in time its still more noticeable than any other car ive owned. Using higher octane fuel might help some too, sometimes I feel like it does and other tanks I havent. Also the engine stops when you are at lights (you can turn the feature off) at first i hated it but then i figured out you have to just let off the brake and wait about a second before hitting the gas then its smooth. It handles nice but its not particularly fast. Overall id recommend it if you are on the fence between needing a 3rd row or not. 20k miles and no problems so far. I usually do a couple mpgs better than epa ratings, low to mid 30s highway and usually upper 20s city but my city is fairly open and not horribly stop and go.

Pros: Nice riding and handling vehicle. Looks good on the outside. Cons: infotainment system is a train wreck and VW knows it. Interior is the land of cheap plastic. Engine isn’t smooth, sounds raspy and is slow!! My adaptive headlights don’t work. VW service hasn’t been great. Suggest Kia, Hyundai or Mazda.

For a brand new car it has had so many issues. The major issue is the acceleration, sometimes when I press the gas pedal it is non responsive and will move then stop. It has stopped in the middle of the road at times or even turning a corner, other times it has lunged forward fast. I also have issues with the radio not turning on and the screen going black as well the parking sensors malfunction.

Bought our '22 VW Tiguan last Fall. Overall we like the vehicle a lot. It has a smooth ride, plenty of room for passengers and Cargo, and pretty decent fuel mileage averaging in the high 20's mpg on Regular gas with mostly City driving. The leather interior is especially nice. New car Inventory was extremely limited during the Fall of '22 and our dealer treated us fairly despite the shortage of new vehicles most Dealers were facing. Negatives: slightly under powered; engine noise a bit pronounced and gruff from standing start; cannot engage Sport transmission setting from a standing start as vehicle jerks and stumbles during take off. If trans is in normal setting this does not occur. Overall the vehicle is attractive, safe, economical, and practical. A lot of vehicle at this price point.

I loved my 2022 Tiguan until a few months ago, when the check engine light randomly came on. I wasn't having any noticeable issues, but made an appointment for about a week later (earliest they could get to it) to diagnose it. Maintenance advisor told me I could continue driving it unless the light began blinking. Never had a difference in the way it drove, and was shocked to learn my PCV failed at under 60k miles. It basically turned the pressure up to 10 and nearly blew up my engine. It blew all gaskets and cost thousands to resolve. It was not covered under warranty and there is no current recall, despite the maintenance team telling me they see this all the time with the 22 and 23 Tiguans. Will never buy Volkswagen again.

One week in and I'm HAPPY! Tech is bit difficult to figure out, but I'm getting there. I have the Pyrite Silver and its stunning with the R-line Black trim level. I wouldn't consider it powerful, but really peppy with a healthy dose of torque. Keeps up with traffic easily and I really like the 8-speed automatic - smooth as silk. From a stop - the engine sounds quite Volkswagonish (new word) and quiets down as speed levels out. I really like the VW growl. :)

Love my new 2022 Tiguan - got R line due to its seats and all the tech. It’s a very nice ride - drove it on long trips and love all the auto driving features. - Interior is very nice - Spacious without being bulky and hard to maneuver - Enough power - Very good cruise control and lane keeping assist (I use lane keeping all the time with this, including around town) - Incredible sound system The only thing about this car is lack of CVT transmission and hybrid drive terrain - so its transmission feels very jerky for in town driving (which makes driving it in town with frequent stops and traffic very annoying). And gas mileage leaves me wanting many more mpgs.

I was kind of nervous when I bought it because I didn't know what I'm getting myself into but it's been a month ago that I bought it and I love driving it it's so smooth and I went by recommendation to get a model SE, and I don't regret it at all, I didn't want it a top of the line on purpose why spend extra thousand dollars when the SE has almost everything you need very fancy

I like the look of the TIGUAN I got the SE R LINE Black edition love all the options this SUV comes with it also rides good. i gave it 4 stars i think the radio could have been better.

The 2022 VW Tiguan SEL R Line disappoints on so many levels. The engine is anemic and its pairing with the transmission is unrefined. The ride and handling are barely adequate. A top of the trim level, which the SEL-R Line represents, should have better interior materials and the ambient lighting feature also falls short. There are quite a few, less expensive vehicles, which are far more desirable. I can’t wait to rid myself of the worst vehicle I have ever owned.

I've had my 2022 VW tiguan 2022 for over a year now. We are up to 53k miles. We've had no issues except the factory VW battery is going bad and the warranty stopped at 50k so it's gonna cost $400. Anyway, the only complaints I have are that the 3rd row seat is TINY. My boys are 6 and 8 and are small but gave no room. Also there is only 2 tiny air vents to cool the whole 2nd row and 3rd row. We live in florida and it's extremely hard to get it to cool for my kids back there. I had to buy car fans to help. There is no space with the 3rd row up. I have to get someone to watch my kids to be able to grocery shop. Other than this, the car is great. It's has a hard body and great great gas mileage. Also, if you like loud music, there is a safety setting that you can no override and the car will not get loud. Just putting that out there. We are currently trying to trade for something bigger for us and that actually has rear air conditioning.
