Rock solid on the highway
Gas pedal is a bit jumpy but the Tiguan is a solid performer with tons of cargo room. I was getting sick of my unexciting Subaru Outback is the Tiguan is much more fun to drive.

Exceptional vehicle
The color of my car is beautiful. I love the safety features. It is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven. It is the right vehicle for me. I have owned 4 Volkswagen now and won't be changing to any other. I'm sold on the confirmation and quality of Volkswagens.

Engine/Transmission Problems
Mine has been giving me nothing but problems. The transmission takes forever to work. I step my foot on the pedal, completely to the floor, the car take 6 seconds for it to catch and go anywhere. Then, the car bolts, no consistancy. The sensors are really annoying. Be prepared to get used to the car stopping on you when pulling out of driveways. The car also revs really high and has a noisy engine. Not worth the money. The car looks beautiful, I wished it actually preformed.

Really wanted to like this car, but….
Traded an end of lease 2018 Acura Base for the Tiguan. Planned on just getting another RDX, but the base RDX doesn’t really have all the modern safety features one would expect (blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, etc.). The other SUVs in this class were either silly expensive of had ugly styling; i.e. a box with headlights and taillights stuck on the corners line warts. We leased the Tiguan and were fairly satisfied (after getting used to the spartan German interior), until the auto start function began to malfunction. We gave up when the car would not restart at a busy intersection, all the warning lights came on, with a near miss collision as it rolled down a hill into oncoming traffic. The dealer agreed that there were 34 faults in the computer, but they couldn’t reproduce the issue. Their suggestion? Turn off the auto start function. Now my wife is nearly paranoid she’ll forget and will end up with a dead car or collision.

Better than my Lincoln MKX
Traded a 2013 Lincoln MKX for the Tiguan SEL 4 motion... More responsive, better ride, quiet, solid, and more seat and leg room in front and back seats. Approximately 20% more fuel efficient around town and about 30% more hwy. The VW was significantly less expensive than the our similarly equiped Lincoln less A/C option in the seats.
