I thoroughly researched the midsize segment and found the Passat to be a perfect fit for me. I live in metro Phoenix so opted for the S trim since I'm not a fan of leatherette seats in our intense summer heat. The base model has plenty of standard features, and I was able to purchase a new one for $18,800. I love the fit and finish of the vehicle with its accompanying handsome, understated design, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a comparable sedan for under 19K. I've owned all type of cars from different manufacturers, but this is my first VW, and I am very pleased. I highly recommend the Passat.

Leased a 2017 Passat after my 2014 Accord lease expired. Accord is considered the cream of the family sedan crop. But, the interior of the Passat is far nicer than the Accords. The CVT in the Accord is unobtrusive but noisy during acceleration. I have found the VW's six speed to be a superior transmission and when paired to the 1.8L Turbo, offers spirited acceleration when needed and excellent highway MPG's. City mileage is average. The power train is a smooth and quiet operator. Ride in the Passat is at least equal to, if not slightly superior, to the Accords. The Passat offers an ever so slightly firmer ride, which I prefer. Neither the Accord nor the Passat are segment leaders in overall handling. But, again, the Passat is at least equal to, if not a little bit better, than the Accord. Overall driving dynamics in the Accord is softer than the Passat with more body lean in turns. Passenger room, both front and back, is enormous. The exterior design on the Passat may seem a bit bland to some, but, wind and road noise is barely above a whisper and visibility is excellent.
