Great features horrible ride
About 6 months ago I was looking at new cars and was deciding between this car and the honda accord. I went with the accord and got hit a few weeks ago and received the jetta as a rental. i’ve had the jetta for over a month and I absolutely hate it. The car drives like a tin can. The acceleration is horrible and the brakes are also not smooth to break on. If you are planning on getting this car beware that this car has no power so if you like getting some power then this car is not far you. It also drives particularly horrible on the highway. It is extremely hard to get any power on the highway, which makes highway driving difficult. Another thing I noticed is how cheap everything feels inside the car, don’t get me wrong it has great safety features inside, but it feels very plasticy and cheap. It is not a car I feel safe in or feel is reliable. It is not a smooth drive at all! I am so glad this is only a rental car because I would have regretted actually buying this car very much.

Used to be a good value
I extensively test drove the GLI…nice looking car. For me the engine noise and the road noise was not acceptable. It is German engineered but definitely cheapened by pretty stark interior design. The radio is, well, worse than an old Hyundai. I ended finding a gorgeous Camry SE for $2000 less. Toyota quality, it can’t be beat.

I still like it tho
I wish it had all wheel drive so I wouldn't have gotten stuck in the mud 😕 needs more horsepower too.

No power. 8-speed transmission is wrong (again).
Only "fun to drive" is manual transmission. The Auto transmission will look for the right gear.... then it will look for V6 engine. On previous models , with less than 8 gears , you would hear the metal knock when you are slowing down. Vw fixed that noise with new gear box. Jetta 2020/2021 models is weak (Marketing slogan "yes it is ugly but it gets great gas mileage is still working after 70 years. Yes, if you put 1.0 L engine the economy will be 50 mpg) and the sales people will drive you around the block.Highway "will concur" the power is not there. Car without such power is not safe to drive on US highways. No acceleration... enjoy 35 mpg speed limits. Exterior "design" is nothing special. Same 15 yo style (budget classics?). Check dealer's mechanic shop while you are waiting for your new Jetta and dealer's reviews; usually they (reviews) are low because reliability and service are low, while Korean car makers are on the top of reliability and "car wanting" charts. I'd say - VW is dead. I leased previous 2 VWs and turned them both back after 24 months. I am looking for a cheap car, nothing fancy. VW dealers in Utah advertised $14500 for a Jetta but after a few things (they forgot to remove $2000 in intensives and add down payment), you are looking at $17500 Jetta (no style or reliability). What's the next cheap brand? Nissan Altima 2021 is very nice.

2022 be jetta
I’ve had nothing but problems with mine since I bought it the steering issues, the staring keep stepping up to the right I would turn and then the steering wheel just stiff and I couldn’t do anything else with it. I would be driving down the freeway, and then my stain would stiffen and then dirt to the right or I almost hit a couple of big rigs. It scared the crap out of me. I took it to VW and they tell him they can’t find nothing wrong with it. They said it’s just the line assist even though the line is off. I turned it off because I don’t like it. Has anybody else had any issues with this because I’m terrified to drive it now please help.

2nd Jetta
I love the Jetta. I got my first one in late 2018 when the new model came out. Lease came up in December and so I got another one. It is amazing. I call it Audi Light. It is peppy responsive and fun. It is comfortable and I feel like my family and I are safe in it. It is sturdy feeling.
