Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Value Edition 4dr Sedan (2.5L 5cyl 5M) Consumer Reviews
Great for the Money
For the money, the 2006 Jetta Value Edition is a great car. I bought my 2006 Jetta slightly used and knew that I had made the right choice. As I look through the ratings of other cars I just laugh. GM is really funny. None of its vehicles should get a 5 or higher except for the Vett. VW makes good cars because they are drivers' cars. This is the second VW for me and they keep getting better. For me the 2.5 has plenty of power because I have never had a very powerful car so it hard to compare to, unlike the editors that drive a $100,000 car with 800 horsepower. Of course the Jetta isn't powerful, but compared to other vehicles in it's class it is good. My wife has a Saturn ION. Yeah, I can't wait to get rid of that car. Cheap plastic.
Hunk-A-Junk PIMA
I do recognize that with this being an older car, it does not have the same luxuries or amenities as newer models. I'm fine with that. I would even be okay with a car that had no automatic windows or a Bluetooth connection. THIS however is a piss poor excuse of engineering and human design. Any standard equipment that you would expect to use be-it wrenches, oil, lightbulbs, screwholes, wiring, etc. Pretty much expect to throw those out. Before getting in your car, you have a %50 of getting in through the passenger door even if you lock it from the inside and with a key fob, only way to %100 ensure that it's secured is by manually locking it from the driver side door. If your feeling a bit chilly don't worry, The heater will actually start working in 15 minutes, even after you fix the AC, Heater and Inside ventilation systems. Going to your favorite drive through for breakfast or coffee is even better when your window is stuck, all because of one little wire inside the door hinge cavity is snapped, and opening your door is the only way to get your card to them. You go to work about your day, you come back and wonder why you're hearing every gust of wind, probably because none of the windows are even sealed properly. Going down the highway makes you feel like Schrodinger's cat where your car is too heavy and gives Towtruck drivers a full gym workout moving it in place, and it's not heavy enough to stop the car from being shaken by anything stronger than a 2mph wind. If your giving yourself a break and taking a nap in your car no amount of blankets will help you stay warm or stop you from roasting in hell with the absolute Zero Insulation it has. Grocery shopping is perfect when you have had to replace the same trunk actuator 4 separate times, and it still refuses to close. Regardless of the preciseness of the lock placement. Getting New oil is even better when your in a pinch because at least around my area, 5-40 engine oil is a special order sort of deal and even though the engine should work with 5-30 it decides to be pickier than a toddler with his vegetables. Under the hood is no exception. The batting that they use is pretty much just a slightly stuffed moving blanket, it's near impossible to refill the ac coolant, or replace the bulbs. Half of the important breakers in the electric box are uncommon in autostoresml. Under the car you have cheap plastic covering, high stressed axles, everything that's 6inches above the ground will be like cutting the belly of the beast above while you duck under it. And the best part is You can't fix any of it yourself, got 13 point star bit, and yes I triple checked and asked an auto parts salesman and a certified mechanic and a family friend to see if it's Actually 13 points, it is. Half of the other parts have to be shipped or imported, you can't even pull them from the scrapyard unless you got specific make model year, version, engine, everything. And even when you have everything you need, all of the places these components need to go are in the darkest and most cramped crevices in the whole world. You literally need to have a A+ rated mechanic shop or take off several parts of the car to get 1 minute but crucial piece fixed. Save yourself the anguish, get some thermite and set it on fire. Or just give it to someone you hate more than the devil himself. Fr fr, I'm serious about the thermite and destroying this car.

Best car I've owned
I've my Jetta for over 2 years and I will be sorry to see it go when my lease ends. Although it looks too much like a Toyota once you get behind the wheel you know it's a VW. I love the MP3 CD player and the ice cold a/c in the summer and the heated mirrors and quick heat in the winter. The car is an absolute blast to drive and my dealer is great only had 1 problem with the brakes and they took care of immediately. I will certainly lease another. one
