This car is so awesome. Everything about it except perhaps the gas mileage is amazing. But that's to be expected with a 180 HP Turbo engine! It's so much fun to drive and is very comfortable. Trunk is huge! In fact, they could take away a little trunk space and add it to the rear seats, but other than that, the car is perfect!!!

I never considered owning a VW until reading the rave reviews for the TDI engine. TDI is quiet, starts quickly even in severe cold, plenty of torque. Fabulous fuel efficiency. Chose Jetta TDI wagon over more expensive Volvo V40. Acquiring the exact car I wanted was extremely difficult given that TDIs are on limited allocation and dealerships wanted to tack on unreasonable markup.

MY Jetta TDI is a great great automobile. I average 47mpg with combination driving (75 city/25 hwy), it doesn't take off like a 3.5 Altima..but then again an Altima (no matter what engine) can't get 50mpg...ever. It can, however, get out into traffic with no problems...was pleasantly surprised at it's ability to go from a stop. It is loads more comfortable than the Corolla I traded in on it, which is important when travelling more than 2 hours at a time. The has great build quality, and is surprisingly quiet on the road too.

This is a fun fun car to drive. The VW Jetta is a great all around car to to drive for the person who would like a loaded great featured car for a bargain price. This car has tons of safety featues that you don't have to pay extra for. They also are a great handling car. VW puts all the metal where it counts for structure rigidity. Unless you are looking to pay for a BMW the VW line offers great products for the money. I have had my Jetta 1.8T for almost ten years and I have not had any real problems with it. They have a great warranty if your worried.

DO not buy this car, they have had several recalled parts and they take NO responsibility if the car breaks even with a bumper to bumper waranty i had the car for 9 months and the transmission broke they made me pay 3000.00 for it then the eslectrical system went out and they covered it but it took 5 weeks to get it finished and do not even try to get a rental car from these people..PLEASE do not make the same mistake i did. once you drive off the dealership VW has no concern for you. I rate this car as horrible. there are several websites dedicated to VW lemons., they are hurting MANY people do not let them betray you...

I had this car for three years, it had 200,000 miles on it. I like this car but it was in the shop at least every three months for some small things that cost a ton. Heated seats didnt work. Bad headlights. The only good thing about this car is defrosters. The MPG was 21 at best. When it wasnt in the shop it was an reliable car (key word when it wasn't in the shop). Personaly I would not buy this car I have heard that this car is a mechanics best friend because its there all the time. I got to know my mechanic very well because I was there all the time. I got a loan for $5000 when I bought this car I put that much if not more in it to fix the dumb thing. As soon as I paid it off we sold it

This new Jetta replaced my old '98 Jetta. The physical difference between the two could not be greater. The level of refinement and power I have in this car compared to its predecessor is amazing. And the sticker price on them were virtually the same! VW made truly amazing strides with this generation.

Owned my Jetta for two months now and it's been very reliable. Only things added are EPS and auto transmission. It's comfortable to drive -- I'm small (slightly above 5 feet) but the adjustable seat makes driving the Jetta easy. Slightly better than the Honda I owned before. Cons: 1. turning light doesn't go off very quickly after making the turn. No big deal, just the clicking sound is a bit annoying. 2. Poor gas mileage. The window sticker says 24/30, but I was getting below 20, now typically around 20-22. (I have about 1900 miles on it so it's not a break- in thing.)

With a 2 year old son, and a big dog, I needed a wagon, and I'm very glad I decided on the Jetta. My car has 8000 miles on it, and NO problems what so ever (knock on wood)... There's lots of room in the cargo area, and the car's fun to drive. Plus it gets 31 mpg on the highway. NO regrets.

I was recently in the market and I looked at Merecedes C Class, Volvo s40 2004.5, Acura TSX, Acura RSX, Mazda RX8, Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, and I'll be honest I never thought to look at Volkswagen. But, I'm really happy I did. I love this car. It's so much fun to drive and for the money you can't beat all the options. The interior cabin is well designed and the car just feels solid. I was concerned the 4 Cyl. wasn't going to be enough power, but it has quite some pick up I've been shocked. Long story short... If your in the market please look at them I think it's a great car for the money and so does everyone who see's it.

this is my first car here as well my first VW. I got a great deal and with all the fully loaded features the cost was less than Civic EX / Corolla S (i know that there are lot of red faces now that i have compared jetta to civic / corolla). The car is excellent to handle especially during curves / ramps (you can easily push the car to 15 mph more than the specified speed at ramps). Transmission is a bit rough in the first 8000 miles but then it really loosens up. Reverse gear is initially the most unco-operating part!

I LOVE the car! Not quite getting the gas milage I expect going 75 & 80 on I- 75 probaly doesn't help! Car is Super Quiet and LOVES to Go FAST,interior areas improved over Wife's New Beetle, cup holders are great and the back slides out for easier accessability. Security system is the greatest and doors are solid with inbeam construction. Oil changes are seasonal 6000 to 9000 miles because they come with Synthetic motor oil LOVE my Jetta Wagon - have 2105 miles and only 8 days old! Have exterior options on like - fitted mud flaps, Chrome foot pedals, window wind shades and decals or front bra, really makes the differance!

We bought the Jetta with 25,000 miles and it has 65,000 now. The only repair was that we replaced the thermostat, otherwise it runs and drives great. Gas mileage is around 24 mpg mixed driving. The build quality is really good and the interior has a lot of room for a compact car. However, the transmission is acting up. It shifts hard and slips on occasion, which at only 65,000 miles is surprising.

Car is all-around solid. Great interior design with blue and red instrumentation, comfortable seats, simple layout. Performs well, especially fond of acceleration. A sedan, yes, but don't count on fitting large people in the back seat unless the driver and front passenger are each 5'3". Tiptronic is cool but slow.

The new GLI 1.8T (2004) has got to be one of the most explosive Jettas yet. Everywhere I go, people are oohing and aahing at the sleek (european) styling, that of BMW and Mercedes.Your everyday demeanor flies out of the window as soon as you let out the clutch and the daily stresses seem to have disappeared when shifting into 6th gear. I have found myself early to rise on the weekends, so I can get my car onto the mountain roads of Colorado where the GLI is at home.

Great gas mileage - 36 city and 48 highway. Comfy, yet not overdone with luxury items. All of the features you need in a wagon at a great price. New engine gives 100 HP and does make it move - for a diesel. Compared it to others - Suburu, Volvo, Audi - and they don't come close to value and price.

I absolutely love my Jetta. I got the base GL with no options and it still has more standard features than any other cars that I looked at. It comes with 6 air bag standard! It also has the CD player, visor shade, folding seats, etc. and I didn't have to pay extra for them. The sales person that helped me was wonderful, and the service department is wonderful too (I haven't had to use it yet, but my friend who owns a passat says its great). I want my entire family to get VW's now, because they are so safe and reliable.

This car approaches the safety of a Volvo (with head curtain airbags, good crash test results, and available ESP). It approaches the performance of an Audi (with its sporty handling and diesel torque). When you factor in fuel expenses, it approaches the economy of a Honda or Toyota. Now, if VW could only promise Honda or Toyota reliability, they'd have an unbeatable combination. It's a little small for a family, but wonderful as a second car for solo commuting.

I purchased this vehicle brand new after previously owning a 97 Jetta. It was my first new car and I researched my purchase extensively. I really like the value of it while having a better look than similar cars in its class. I've owned it for 7 years now and as much as i want to say it's a great car, i simply cannot recommend it. I've come to realize that it's simply not a well build machine. The water pump went after 4.5 years b/c the impellers are made of plastic!. Fuel pump went, various recurring electrical problems and now my cd player went. It comes and goes so i figured i'd tough it out and now, the AM and FM stereo are going. Currently looking and will not be buying a VW :(

Bought it for business mostly freeway driving to max MPG. Getting 46 to 53 MPG with plenty of power. Except for a little puff of blue smoke on cold start up cannot tell it is a diesel. Running great so far. Really neat little car for one person. Not really enough room for passengers. Terrible back seats for passengers but easy to lay down for storage of lugguge. Blue instrument panel lighting takes a little getting use to but looks cool. Been in snow and ice for two weeks now. Manual trans really helps. Have 4000 miles on it now and would buy it again.

I've found only two oil brands that are certified for use in the new diesel. My dealer charges $70/oil change. They will sell a quart for $10/qt. Otherwise you may need to find Motul oil on line to order. That's what I plan to do. The dealership seems confused about the oil situation. I don't want to take my car fo them for care.

The same problem with service and the worst part is when I call VW of Noth America for help - they told me that they cannot help me and they have NO CONTROL of their dealers at all! Result of tryin to have a service at Valenti Motors, CT : in a two weeks small problem with my radio was not fixed plus complete disrespect of my personal time and VW image.

Wow this car rocks! It's loaded with everything a car enthusiast might have thought to change on a production car: there's nothing left to change! The RECARO seats are as good looking as comfortable, the 18 ins BBS stick to the road and the 1.8T is a great compromise between MPG on highway and performance when you need it. It makes heads turn more than the eclipse GT I traded-in!

I'm very surprised on how much stuff that comes as standard package on Jetta GL 2.0L automatic. The only options I added were the ESP and automatic transmission. I think 2.0L engine is good enough for everyday use. It handles smoothly in city traffic, hills, and freeway. No need the turbo unless you like street racing and have extra money to spend on gasoline. I only put the comfort on 9 because I just bought it a week ago. I think the suspension is still a little stiff.
