My Florida car. Great run-about economy with performance to boot.

I have always driven Honda cars, but to get the quality and injoyment from a vehicle, I have found it in the volkswagen Jetta. The quality and performance I get from it than the honda accord has been a comfort for me to know that I own something that most people would like to own themselves or has not have the pleasure of knowing anthing about volkswagon (cars) company.

surprisingly i have found this to be a very smartly designed car. without a bunch of high tech gizmos, this car delivers reliable and economical transportation. with the turbo and sport package, it delivers performance to equal cars costing twice as much.

Be sure if there is a problem with the vehicle that you get back to the dealer ASAP. The headlights on my car were too low to be safe. I didn't ask for them to be realigned until 8 months and 20,00 miles had passed. They charged me $54, I appealed to VW America and they still refused to reimburse me. Said I had to be in within 4000 miles of purchase.

My Jetta wagon is getting 45-50 mpg in mixed driving. From what I hear, the TDI automatic doesn't do nearly as well, so if you want a TDI, I'd suggest the manual. Beyond the fuel economy issue, I also really like the way it drives. The engine has a narrower power band than a gas engine, but has lots of torque in the 1500- 3000 rpm range. The TDI feels surpisingly strong for 100. The car itself is well put together and, so far, has had no problems. (knock on wood) I really like the way the instruments look at night, with the blue LED lighting. The interior is attractive and comfortable for this thin, 5'11" guy.
