Minor things turns into STRESS makers
I have owned my Vw all of its life. I also had to get the windows reinstalled with the "metal clips" instead of the cheap plasic ones that Mexico put in. That was the first trip to the shop June 02, second time was last year...transmission seemed to start slipping, they reset the trans computer and was running great for 4 weeks and started it again, went to the shop about 3wks ago(9/04)to get oil changed and complained about the brakes making a loud squeeking noise, (tech said nothing wrong) still doing it and it feels sometimes like it sputters when I put it in drive,(tech found nothing wrong as well. Power seat ate its plug for the motor, going to the shop tomorrow for the 8 things on my list
New 200hp Jetta GLX - Bad News
My 2002 Jetta V6 GLX with the 200hp engine has been nothing but trouble. The car is a month old, & already it's been in the shop 8 days. 1st, the engine control module went. My svc mgr let slip that 500 other Jettas had the same problem. 2nd, the driver's side door didn't fit. It had to be reinstalled. 3rd, the car blew its coolant all over the garage floor. The svc dept found "nothing wrong". 4th, the car does not idle well. It races then dies. The svc dept has been unable to find the problem. The svc mgr is so fed up he is ready to call in an official VW rep, thus handing this problem car off on someone else. It is my opinion that this car is a lemon. Buyers beware.
Jetta VR6= (Road+Car+Driver)^(Connected)
I have always wanted a VR6 and boy, I am so happy that I finally got one last year. I bought a used GLX 5-speed manual with all the options and only 26,000 miles. I have since improved the car by conditioning the leather and waxing it a couple of times - that's how much I like this car. It has many features you would not expect on a compact car - rear sunshade, automatic windshield wipers, excellent interior illumination (even with ambient LED lighting), fog lamps, REAL wood trim, excellent leather. However, the best thing of this car is the way you connect to it when you drive it. Around town it is amazingly fun to drive, and at high speeds, it is dead stable. Great European car!
disappointed
this is not a great review - car overheated and glitched after I had it for a couple months, light switch broke, cup holders suck (they drip on the a/c adaptor when I have my phone plug in), the car and insurance is overpriced, tiny back seat, gas mileage is not great and you have to use 91 octane gas. transmission slips and the dealer won't fix it. blah blah blah...
nothing but trouble
In 2 yrs, I've had it in the shop to repair a cup holder, center arm rest, remote entry, broken passenger window regulator, broken driver side window regulator, leaky door sealant, and emissions (5 times). Quality feel has been a mirage. Absolute disaster and will never buy a VW again. Large number of 2 yr jettas in the used lot should have been a clear signal.
