GTI FAN
I bought this car new in Feb 2017. It was the GTI autobahn with the 6-speed manual. I just traded it in for a 2019 GLI autobahn. Mainly to get the 6yr/ 72000mi warranty that is already being reduced in the 2020 models. It had under 33,000 miles and was the best car I’ve ever owned and I’m 68. Did everything well and still got 35-37 mpg on the highway

Golf GTI
I love this car. I have wanted a Golf forever, but it was always just out of my price range. This car has everything I could want. If I could add one thing, it would be a sun roof, but I'm not bothered by the lack of one.

My pocket rocket is awesome
I've been driving it only for 20 days. I should have bought this years ago.

Why was it shipped with a broken switch
I can't do a review Justice like all of those available elsewhere. It's a perennial top winner for car and driver and Motor Trend and other magazines. I was in a 2016 M3 which I traded out of because it was a colossal waste of money. Super fun car of course just no where you can possibly drive that car living in the city. I actually enjoy driving the GTI more. The GTI is like a magnificent go kart and while not as fast, at all, as the M3 it doesn't feel like driving a really heavy missile. Steering feedback is better. I hate it when it arrived it had a broken window switch and the dealership never bothered to call me to tell me that the part was in, and my annoyance at that lack of customer service and initial quality forces me to give this for stars. Sorry for the run-on sentence but voice to text

This car is so much fun to drive
I have owned probably 10 VWs, including numerous Jettas, a convertible Rabbit, and a Quantum. This is by far the most fun to drive. A couple of months ago, my sales guy sent me a text and told me he could upgrade my Jetta and lower my payment by $100 a month. I told him I did not want another Jetta, I wanted a Golf GTI. I have wanted one for a long time. I ended up with the 2.0T SE with beautiful titan black leather with red stitch. The exterior paint is deep black pearl metallic. I love it!!!!! The first time I really hit the gas to get on the freeway, my neck actually snapped back. It is so fast and small and zippy. I also have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery (which I really love), but I don't even want to drive it because the GTI is so much fun. I love the trim and the fact that it has 4 doors and the hatchback. The two things that I don't like as much as the Jetta - I like the temperature control system in the Jetta over the GTI and I really miss having an old fashioned navigation system not connected to a phone. Buy this car - you will be very happy!!!!!

GTI on the Fly
The car is a driver's car, a real fun car to drive. The ride is somewhat dependent upon the type of tires that are on the GTI from the manufacturer. We have Hankook all season tires which are a harder rubber compound and a nosier tire so the ride is a bit nosy and you feel the bumps a bit more although not a deal breaker. But that's to be expected with a performance car and this car DOES perform. The interior looks like that of a luxury car and is much more than one can expect for a car in this class. Fit and finish is excellent and the quality of the leather and other materials is excellent and rather plush as well. It looks like VW has finally turned the corner after "diesel gate" and brought a quality and impressive car to the market. If this is things to come for VW, I believe they'll be back in front as a premier auto manufacturer.

So much joy from such a little car!
I purchased my 2016 GTI Autobahn used with around 20k miles and drove it from Albuquerque, NM to Traverse City, MI in a little over 26 hours. Needless to say I had a chance to bond with it over nearly every road condition you can imagine. With almost every option minus the lane / cruise assist and DCC, the car is extremely comfortable with a well laid out interior. I have minor gripes with the cruise and window buttons (I really liked the previous Mk6 stalk mounted cruise which you didn't have to look away from the road to adjust and window buttons on the upper slant of the door handle where your fingers can easily find them), but overall everything is where you expect it to be. The quiet, well insulated cabin helps make the most of its ample Fender (Panasonic) sound system. With just over a year and 20k additional miles I can honestly say the GTI is about the best all around car I've ever owned. I just nails it's main objective of being a fun to drive hot-hatch really well, while doing everything else with the effortless grace of a car well above it's price range. Even during a brutal stretch of northern Michigan winter, it was still a blast to drive. Whether hauling ass around a bend or bikes to my favorite trail the GTI is eager to please. The only changes I've made have been slightly wider Michelin P4S on wider rims for summer and narrow rims with tall Michelin Ice-X's for the cold which I highly recommend. Having dedicated summer and winter tires expands the cars envelope exponentially.

A best hot hatch out !!!
Quality built car. The engine is a MONSTER !!!!! I was looking at mini Cooper and test drove the gti and was sold. The space and fuel economy and powerful sports car is a no brainier. The quality that went into this car is ridiculous from the steering wheel to the interior doors.
