Had Fords, Chevys, and GMCs. By far the best truck ever. Strong engine and Powertrain. Tow 7000lbs with ease at high speeds. Tranny is excellent. Love the sliding/reclining rear seats and rear power window. 54,000 reliable miles. Gas mileage is 13-14 in town. 16-17 highway. 9-12 towing. Worth every penny. Will NEVER go back to Fords and Chevys. 3/4 ton truck in 1/2 ton label. Now at 68000 miles .... Decided to drive this truck for 200,000 based on recent test drives of Fords, Dodge, and Chevy. No need to buy new Tundra, This one has all the features I want. I love this truck. Update: 80000 miles .... no major issues. Added Doug Thorley long tube headers, TRD cold air kit, and TRD dual exhaust. Awesome. More torque and HP ... this truck just continues to wow me. Major media can criticize its out of date, rides harsh, etc, etc. it's a truck and it hauls my boat and family and all it requires is gas and oil. I will never get rid of this truck. 92000 miles. Gas mileage is up. 19 mpg at 70-75 mph. Around 14-15mpg in town. Gas,oil, brakes, and tires. I just love this truck. No gimmicks. No 10spd transmissions, it just keeps getting better. I'll have this truck for a long time. Update 136000 still running strong. Other than maintenance no repairs. Still feels brand new. No squeaks or rattles. Just a great truck. 163000 miles. No squeaks or rattles. No issues. Still tows all the toys with ease. No desire for a new truck 203000 miles. Still runs strong. Still pulls all our trailers. Just routine maintenance. Gas mileage has improved with 17-18 mpg on highway, and 14 in city. Still 9-12 towing.

Bought new Dec. 2014 during Toyotathon days. The 5.7 engine roars with plenty of passing speed with a smooth shifting 6spd transmission. I live in South Central Pa and this Winter has been rough, but not a problem for the Tundra Crew Max! This truck drives like a truck not a car like some of the newer big 3 trucks I've driven. It sits nice with a firm quiet ride without the big truck feel.Gas mileage averaging 15.5 mpg. 8-6-17: This truck now has 47k miles on it and runs flawless, I cant be more happier with my purchase it now averages about 17mpg and pushing 20-21 on the highway. I've had this truck through 2 Winters in South Central Pa and it drives and handles the snow with ease, used it several times towing campers, boats and large dual axle trailers and I don't think the 5.7L engine struggles to pull, my wife absolutely loves it and seems to drive it more than I do, so I may have to purchase a newer one for myself ! Anyone interested in an awesome truck with great reliability and power along with a big return on investment the Toyota Tundra is your truck! 3/7/2018: It's been since Dec. 2014 when I bought this Tundra new and its been awesome, it rides nice in any weather condition especially snow, has never failed us in any mechanical, technical or reliability issue, I can't say anything negative about the truck aside maybe the gas mileage but what 5.7L V8 engine doesn't drink a little gas, I'd sacrifice a little gas mileage over raw horsepower any day ! Aside from all the great features on this truck, I do want to comment on the value of this truck. I originally leased the truck when purchased new under the Toyota 3yr lease program and now that its up we decided to buy it outright, our amazement was the calculated value of the truck compared to what we paid for it 3 yrs. ago, this truck only depreciated around $2k in a 3yr period with 45k mi. We will always be a Toyota Truck family ! Update: Roughly 88k miles now on it and it still drives like it does when we bought it new. Just the regular maintenance so far involving a set of brakes and a new set of tires along with the regular oil changes but no major repairs needed. We don’t baby this truck either so it’s not a truck that is used as a basic transporter, it’s in the mountains off road and long hauls towing trailers. It’s been a great truck being a 1st time Toyota Tundra owner and we plan to keep it as long as we possibly can, one thing I’ve noticed our area where we live is pro dominantly Ford, Chevy & Dodge but now we are seeing Tundras growing in numbers whereas we would never see a Toyota in the area. Good investment truck ! 3/8/2023: The truck has now reached 100k miles and no reported issues, just regular maintenance per the manual, now going to change the antifreeze. This is by far the best truck our family has owned and will keep it till the wheels fall off ! I have no complaints that would steer me from purchasing another brand truck I’m sticking with Toyota as long as they keep building quality vehicles. Just to let everyone know I don’t baby this truck either it tows tandem trailers, camper trailers and is used primarily for errands and hunting it is not a daily driver.

Poor Leather Quality

Absolutely love everything about my 1794 Tundra except the quality of the leather interior. The appearance is beautiful but upon close inspection you definitely can tell it is an inferior to product to any other leather interior I have owned. After six months the leather trim began to slowely wear off my passenger side seat. Perma-plate, the very expensive and unnecessary add on protection plan, will not cover this under their warranty. Toyota will not back the inferior craftsmanship either. I will have to replace the seat at my own cost after less than 2 years ownership. Its a shame that this awesome $50k truck is equipped with such a substandard leather package. P.A.

I recently upgraded my 2008 Tundra Crewmax Limited to a 2015 Tundra Crewmax 1794 Edition and couldn't be happier. The 2008 was a great truck with zero problems over my 7 years of ownership but I liked the new style a little better. After shopping all brands, I narrowed it down to the Silverado with a 6.2 liter and the Tundra. Back to back test drives and haggling for price cemented my decision and I haven't looked back. The reliability and resale on the Tundra is amazing. I pull a 27' camper and have been familiar with the same powertrain I had in the 2008 and like it. Yes the mileage is less in the Tundra but I bought it pull my camper. Gimmicks like cylinder deactivation do not work while towing anyway so don't let the mileage fool you if you plan on towing. The electronics and apps were a big improvement over my 2008. With Entune, I have weather, weather map, traffic info, iHeart radio, etc. and do not have to pay a cent or subscribe to "OnStar", another great feature. The navigation is fast, Bluetooth connects instantly and voice recognition work great. The "Bose" radio in the Silverado sounds like and old AM radio compared to the JBL 12 speaker stereo with sub and amp in the Tundra...another great plus. I am looking forward to another 7 years or more with this truck.

Update : The leather and some of the plastic bits have not held up as much as I would like I like the truck, but don't love it. I had to get rid of my '02 lexus lx470 (landcruiser) and it drove so great for a truck. This rides a little rough in the city, great highway truck. 4x4 engaged does not handle well at low speeds and sometimes the transmission has trouble finding the right gear on certain terrain. Interior is too plastic, antennae has to be manually removed and side mirrors are not auto either. Passenger seat is manual and there is a lot of wasted space in the back that could be storage. However, I love it on regular driving, love the backseat room and sunroof and back window that totally drops down. The stereo is awesome. Gas mileage is terrible but that is expected. I drive my vehicles a long time so I bought it mostly for Toyota reliability and I personally thought it was a better truck than Chevy Silverado, Ford F150 and Dodge that I test drove.

I just traded a 2011 Ford F150 for the 2015 Toyota Tundra Limited. I have had the vehicle 1 week and am very pleased. There are a few quirks with the Toyo-like no preset seats on the limited model and no power adjustment for the passenger seat. The ride on the Tundra is stiffer than the 150 and a little more road noise. The best thing about the truck is the quality. It will last for years to come. If you intend on keeping a vehicle for more than a few years, then this is the truck to own. My customer experience at Jim Barkley Toyota in Asheville was excellent. I highly recommend the Tundra.

If you are not a contractor who needs a long bed on a daily or weekly basis, this truck is a great all-around vehicle. I am in sales and need a comfortable back seat for clients. I also have 6 acres to take care of at home and going to Lowes/Home Depot with this truck is a breeze. The power rear window is great for hauling trim and longer materials when needed.

You wont't go wrong buying a tundra

The Tundra Crewmax is a great truck that has plenty of room in the cab with simple controls on the dash that isn't too busy. A person don't need all that junk on the dash like others. If you are looking for a great truck that is very dependable look no further than the Toyota Tundra It may not get the very best fuel mileage compared to other trucks because it isn't a tin can like the GM and Ford trucks. Toyota includes Toyota care for 24 months after purchase so no worries about oil changes and tire rotations. I would rather sacrifice a few mpg for a good truck than pay for a truck with good mileage that is junk.

Storage space, dashboard lighting logic

In the 1794 model, there is absolutely no storage space other than the console. The jack and tire tools are behind the back seat almost impossible to remove or replace. No place to put trailer hitch equipment or anything else. Tools etc,? The dashboard lighting logic is completely bassackwards. Plenty light at night. Easy to read gauges, speedometer etc. Daylight, the video display, "mpg, miles to empty, outside temp, odometer and even the guages are not lit up. They should be lit up brightly during the day and low light at night. If you need to wear sun glasses, You might not be able to read the speedometer. The dashboard lighting logic needs to be upgraded. Dashboard lighting was my fault. It's o.k. I enlarged the front mud flaps because with the existing one's, the tires pile mud up on the running board. Sometimes over an inch thick. Storage room is still a problem. I get better than 16 mpg.

Granted, the fuel economy is not as good as the big 3 American truck companies, but for me it's a small sacrifice for the comfort, convenience, options, and long term dependability of having a Toyota. This is my 3rd Toyota and I love it more than my previous Toyotas. I noticed that the road noise is slightly louder than the Ford equivalent. The towing weight needs to be improved on. Toyota needs a diesel option.
