Used 2020 Toyota Tacoma Consumer Reviews
Awesome Mid Size Truck
I traded down from a Tundra to the Tacoma TRD Sport and so far it has not been a bad call. Gas mileage difference makes up for a lot, pickup not as strong but runs great and rides just as good. Technology upgrades are great and driver assist safety features are a good thing.
It’s Different !
Transitioned from a BMW 3 Series to Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road. From a practical standpoint, the capabilities of a truck far outpace those of our sedan. However, the driving characteristics between the two are night & day, and will require some time to get used to. Overall, the Tacoma is FUN to drive (especially with 6-speed manual transmission) and quite stable and comfortable on the road (especially during highway driving). The 5.0 bed is a bit underwhelming when tying to transport kayaks, but it does get the job done. Overall, the fit & finish and quality of the Tacoma clearly delivers the feeling of durability. With proper maintenance, this truck should go 300,000 miles easy. Plus, with first two-year’s Toyota Care Maintenance included and 0%APR Toyota Financing, what a low-cost option (way better than expensive BMW maintenance/service costs). The Tacoma does allow for fun trips out to places you might never travel w/o a truck. Gas mileage is so-so at around 18-19 MPG mixed driving. The TRD cat-back exhaust system is a pretty nice addition and came with our Tacoma (from the factory). The TRD Cat-Back Exhaust System comes standard on the TRD PRO models. Not too loud, just about right without drone at higher speeds (70 plus). Many Tacoma’s are assembled in Baja, Mexico. However, our new Tacoma was manufactured in San Antonio, Texas. A must-have option to get is the new for 2020 LED headlights/fog-lights package. About as good of a lighting package as any out there. Much better than standard lighting on Tacoma’s. We also added Genuine Toyota T-A-C-O-M-A lettering on the tailgate ($56). Looks great and was fairly quick/easy to install. The standard indents for TACOMA on tailgate looked a little bland without lettering. With the addition of a Genuine Toyota bed mat ($109), the truck was all set-up for duty. The beauty of the Tacoma is that it will do a lot and look great doing it for a long time. Highest resale value of ANY vehicle sold in USA (71%/five years). That was a big reason why we went with Toyota Tacoma instead of Chevrolet Silverado/Colorado (which are very nice vehicles).

Use the ECT button!!!
I just got my 2020 Sport. Shopped EVERYTHING else and came back to the Tacoma for engineering and build quality, features, initial value and resale value. I have the 6 speed auto and was braced for disapointment based on most reviews. With the default trans and throttle program, yes, it is sluggish. Not a total dog, gets the job done , but sluggish. Pressed the ECT pwr button to see what it did. This feature puts the trans and throttle on a crisp and responsive throttle and shift program. Transforms the truck. I will be doing all my local, back and off road driving in this mode. Suprised that Toyota does not tout this feature. The manual warns that you may lose some gas mileage so I guess thats why they keep it quiet. I'll be using it alot.

Top flight Tacoma
TRD 4x4 sport. Very happy with my purchase. Ride is firm , typical of a 4x4, yet smooth. Loaded with amenities which I love. Only lacking automatic wipers. My only complaint is there's no place to store the headrests when the back seats are lowered. Highly recommend. Update, there is a place to stow the back seat headrests. Not really out of harm's way but good. Helps to thoroughly read the owners manual. Haha Update 9 22 22 only have 19,257 mi so not much to report. Had to replace an O2 sensor that failed under warranty. No squeaks or rattles so far. Been a good little truck. 30k mi regular service, informed brake fluid had H2o and torned green. Rear shocks leaking fluid. OEM shocks on backorder. No date on availability. Replaced with aftermarket shocks.
