I really enjoy driving my Red 2003 MR2 Spyder!

I have had my MR2 Spyder for ten years now and have enjoyed it immensely. It uses regular gas, gets 35-40 MPG and drives like a wonderful dream car. Have only spent $130.00 on the car in repairs since owning it and that was for an O2 Sensor that I replaced myself and a valve gasket. The stock tires wore out fast and were somewhat uncomfortable because of the low tire profile. I installed Michelin Harmony Tires, 185/60-15 on the front and 215/60-15 on the rear and yes I bought 15" chrome stock wheels for the car just after buying the car. The tires transformed the ride, the ride is much smoother and more comfortable now, and the tires last a very long time with the 800 tread wear rating compared to the 140 tread wear rating of the original tires. I highly recommend using 60 series tires. I have the SMT Transmission and love it. The extra gear was much needed plus the taller rear tires gives a 6.5% decrease in RPM as well. At 70 MPH in 6th gear and with the rear tires I have the RPM is 590 less than with the five speed manual transmission. I have driven a stock Spyder with the 5 speed manual and prefer the SMT. Also, my car had the TTE Dual Exhaust when I purchased it and everything else is stock. I plan to keep this car until it is completely worn out, I like it that much!

2zz swapped spyder review with TRD suspension

My review may not be a fair one since my spyder is not really close to stock. I've got a 2zz-ge engine and 6 speed from a 2001 Celica-GTS, the factory TRD suspension and bracing, additional under body bracing (breast plate), and much of the suspension rubber replaced with urethane. The car drives great and is my daily driver and has been very reliable, especially for a 14 year old car. Handling is very confident and acceleration with the 2zz engine is good. I've also got the TRD clutch-type LSD which I would not recommend - I would prefer the factory helical LSD option instead.

This is a great sport car. Handles like a go cart. Great gas mileage. Most of all it's a Toyota.

I will most likely keep my MR2 till I can not drive any more. Sure there are better sports cars, bt you can not get a better one for the price and the gas mileage 25-34 mpg

This is a fantastic car, at a reasonable price that is wonderful to drive. I have owned this car for almost 3 years now and have never had any mechanical problems with it. Be careful on some of the comments above as the 2000 MR2 doesn't have cruise control so I don't understand one of the reviews.
