Entune no working - AGAIN - after repair
Like many others, I have had issues with the Entune system since the day of delivery of my 2019 Highlander Limited Platinum (lack of navigation prompts, no incoming voice text, etc). Toyota replaced the radio head with just 54 miles on the vehicle, a solution that did not work. Last month, they installed another unit with an amplifier that caused the navigation system to freeze up entirely on my drive home from the dealership. The only way to release the nav and get to the other options on the entertainment system was to restart the vehicle. Subsequent to that event, the nav system has locked up again and, again, intermittently, does not process incoming text messages. Toyota denied a repurchase request stating that the issue is not material in nature. I am at my wits end...three radios in the vehicle that is less than 6 months old with fewer than 5,000 miles. I will NEVER buy another Toyota product given this experience. Are others experiencing ongoing issues even after repair attempts?

A limited platinum pig in a poke --!
Navigation malfunctions: no voice guidance. Improper response to basic voice commands. Calls random numbers, appears to not understand addresses in my voice directions. Based on my research on the web, Toyota has known about this issue since at least October---- but is still selling vehicles w/o warning customers of the malfunction. I bought my car at the end of January 2019. For me the malfunction meant spending several hours trying to figure out what "I" was doing wrong, followed by additional hours at dealership with tech experts bumfuzzled as well. Apparently Toyota has failed to alert their tech guys of the real issue. After four calls to Toyota I was "escalated" to a case manager (waited 20 minutes on line to speak to her). She says Toyota is "working diligently" on the problem, that a software update is required. It is uncertain when the "update" will be available, but they will let me know...... Hope this help s someone else, it's too late for me. Lemon laws take months to put into action, the dealers apparently never return amount of $ spent on car

Very Good So Far
I have only had my XLE for about a month and so far am very pleased. Traded in (somewhat reluctantly) a 2005 4Runner with 160k that was absolutely bullet-proof over 14 years. But, having recently driven a rental with what are now becoming fairly standard advanced safety features, I decided to make the change. Two things that I don't like: First, the 4Runner's steering wheel adjustment was much better. I am 6'2" and like the seat back fairly far. The Highlander has very limited front/back and up/down adjustments. Second, the overall design of the hood makes it difficult to see where you are when parking. Also, the combination of the "A" pillar plus large rear view mirror makes a large blind spot when trying to make a turn. Regarding the numerous complaints about the navigation system, they are all from "Platinum" level buyers with the supposedly upscale JBL system. I have had no problems . Having said that, my $170 Garmin is superior in several ways to the built in system.
Navigation nonsense
Overall we like the car. However, when we bought we did not understand all the bells and whistles. We have been to three separate dealers to try and improve our knowledge. At the third Toyota dealership the salesman admitted that the navigation system is a piece of crap and we should use our smart phones. He and others did not understand all the technical info that was available and suggested I should not be concerned.

A GREAT car now that Nav. Voice Prompts is fixed
If you are looking for a highly reliable, safe, comfortable, fun-to-drive SUV with good cargo and passenger space, look no further than the Highlander. When we purchased the car, the navigation voice-prompt system did not work without a litany of pre-start procedures, which was irritating and not safe. However, Toyota's Telematics Team stepped up in conjunction with JBL and fixed it. The end result is the best car we have owned! From safety, comfort, bells and whistles, and the ever popular fun-to-drive department, it is a complete joy to own and drive. Way to go, Toyota!!!
