Most reliable car I have owned. Comfortable. Lots of power for highway driving. Nicely finished.

Great Vehicle, not sure about dealer...

Great vehicle. Chose a FWD V6 model in granite blue, well-equipped but not "loaded". Only problem was a salesman who was clueless beyond belief. The price went up after we ordered, and we could never get a straight story on where the vehicle was or when we were getting it ("on a ship, on a train, on a truck, on a train..."). When we finally got it, we loved it. Only quality problem is an air leak around side rear window that 2 visits to the dealership still haven't fixed. Also, when rear windows are open (even slightly), it sounds like we're riding in a helicopter. Dealer said "they're all like that...close the windows and turn up the AC!"

Long Term Owner Report

Bought used LTD in 2007 w/66k mi; now have 174k. I started selling Toyotas the year the Highlander was introduced so I knew what I was looking for: 2WD with VSC/Trac- as good as AWD without the added maintenance costs. Maintenance items: an O2 sensor, the rear window motors, knock sensors, inner tie rod ends, all struts, engine mounts, timing belt, valve and manifold gaskets, climate control (send this out for resoldering). Only OEM parts. Rarely is any bill over $1k. Have remote start and recently installed CarPlay head unit + backup cam. Total cost of ownership is the lowest I've ever seen- and it has only depreciated $7k over 17 yrs. Sane-sized mid-SUV with great visibility and performance. Still looks like new. Made in Japan - the best build from Toyota.

i didn't like this car before and i was buying some used cars in past for there design and performance or looking. i start driving this car i had very strong feeling it wasn't a car but some machine not from this earth i had very sad feeling and almost was crying why did i ignore this car before. its sold car and steering very controlling and suspension, i had back paint long time but with this car when i driving never pain my back. some day the car hit me and i lost this car but i survived then after that i bought another car 2003 from some private seller he was driving it like a (cow) or hours he naiver take care of this car but car was stilling going , i did some basic repairs /struts/under car rusted exhaust and leaks, o2 sensor front/ emergency brake was chopped by some mechanic and when i changed brakes i notice they did damage to buts and tubers so all damage was coming from the mechanic not from the car was driving 242000km the car is nice driving and restored again.

In 77000 miles of chicago winters and texas summers this car has never caused me a problem. All I have spent on it is changed the tires atg 35000 and bought 4 michelin crossterrains. They are a little harder ride than the bridgestone OEM but still have about another 10K in them. I bought this the first year they were out and have never regretted it once.
