I have owned my Echo for 7 yrs and it is the best car I have owned. I have had this car where trucks have been stuck and it still keeps going in the snow. Seven years and 195000 kms later with proper maintenance all I have had to do is doughnut gasket struts and brakes once.

I LIKE THIS CAR ALOT, BUT WHEN I REARENDED ANOTHER CAR IT WAS TOTALED. LOOKED LIKE THE SLOPPED FRONT END OF THE CAR WENT UNDER THE REAR END OF THE OTHER CAR. MESSED UP THE RADATOR, AND FAN. AIR BAGS CAME OUT --- IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE BUMPER WAS OF ANY USE. I WAS NOT GOING THAT FAST AND NOW THE CAR IS TOTALED.

I bought this car new in the summer of 2000. Performance is great for such a small car. However, I am unhappy with the current resale value of my vehicle. Price when I first bought it, was well over $14,000 (got pretty much all the upgrades). I put $4,000 down, financed the rest for 4 years, and now, with a little more than 2 years left on the loan, I am about $100 away from being upside down on the loan! Of course, if you're considering this car used, it'll be a great deal for you. Just don't get it new, like I did, because its value drops like a rock (probably because this is one of those love-it-or-hate-it cars).

The Toyota Echo is gets really good gas mileage and it has a lot more trunk space than you would expect.

I have had my echo since jan 1 2006 and I bought it with 75000 miles on it it seemed like it would be a good little car to get around in. But I have had nothing but trouble with it within a week the engine light came on so took it in and got that fixed and two days later the engine light comes back on it it keep jumping and jerking while I drive it so I had to get that fixed and a week after that something else went wrong..I have had to have it towed 5 times since I bought it..
